im 40 weeks tomorrow...
since yesterday my belly is tightening at irregular interval and it is not painful in the slightest.
it is DC3 but im clueless (no contractions and emcs with DS1 and weird contractions for 6 days before having DS2)
i never had any BH either... so i am not sure what is happening?
my belly can be rock hard for a minute or so and then soften... baby is moving as usual.. what do you think it is? BH or very early contractions?

I would puH, sorry! I am 39 weeks with DC2.

I had them for weeks before DS and sometimes they can get quite painful but they always go away and I really bloody knew about it when the proper ones started.

Good luck!

openerofjars · 22/05/2012 07:37

Put money on, bloody phone/fat fingers.

flagnogbagnog · 22/05/2012 07:43

Could very well be very early contractions. When I went into labour with dc3, I'd had a show but that was it. Went to a scheduled midwife app and she told me I was having contractions. It was news to me, because they weren't painful I hadn't noticed. It wasn't too long before I could feel them though!

Very excited for you x

tostaky · 22/05/2012 07:44

:( that it what i fear....
but it is odd that i never ever had any BH with any of my pregnancies and that suddenly, im approaching my EDD im getting some.... oh well... if there is one thing i know it is that each labour is different so i cant rely on my past experience

i'm 40+1 today and no baby! I've been having strong BH's on & off for weeks now. every 5mins at times, sweep booked in for tomorrow so who knows...

Good luck OP:)

MixedClassBaby · 22/05/2012 15:35

I'm in the same boat, tostaky and little ray. Woke at 3am this morning with 'contractions/BH' every 5 mins, building in intensity. Then had bloody show and even called hospital at 8am. Then all stopped and nothing since. Aaarghhhh, so frustrating. All I can say from previous experience is when it's definitely happening, you KNOW about it!

tostaky · 22/05/2012 18:37

When you say "strong" what do u mean exactly?
Since 5pm it has started again, slight pain in the lower abdomen, coming up as a wave ie. slowly getting more intense/painful and then fading away

That's a contraction or is it still BH?
I'm timing them (got nothing better to do!) and then come roughly every 7 to 10 minutes...

Good luck to both of you, I hope you get your babies very soon too! Wink

Can you talk through them or do they make you go, "nnnnnngghhh!"?

If the latter, then definitely contractions, IME. If the former, then probably BH. Am sending you all labour vibes.

In even, please can you keep your fingers crossed that my baby stays in for about another week? I have a bit too much on to give birth right now...

MixedClassBaby · 22/05/2012 19:06

Tostaky, I could have written your last post. Currently every 7 mins... Wishing you all the v best and hope this is it for us! Recognise your name from the May thread where I've been lurking but not posting.

HauntedLittleLunatic · 22/05/2012 19:08

BH are contractions...

tostaky · 23/05/2012 07:16

i can def talk through them but they are so regular that i think they are contractions, albeit small/early ones... fingers crossed for you! :)

How are you this morning Mixedclass?

My waters started trickling yesterday and contractions are still here, very mild but quite regular.... with DS2 i had 6 days of contractions and i can now recognise how they felt... let's hope my body doesnt need 6 days this time around!!!

Yaaaaaaaaay! Fab news & beautiful name. Hope you're having loads of rest and newborn cuddles.

Tostaky? Little Ray?

Baby jars still here but kicking the living hell out of me in revenge for a busy morning. No cx, phew. I have just booked in to have my roots done on my EDD. Confused

Littlerayofsunshine · 23/05/2012 19:55

Congratulations :)

Had my midwife appointment today, As soon as I walked in, she said "What are you still doing here!?" She thought I would have given birth weeks ago due to my body having strong bh's regularly and that they'd go into the real thing.

She did a 2nd sweep (last one was a week ago) and she said baby's head is very low. She then said "little monkey"... Your baby has come down the birth canal half the way! but the cervix (is open) but is still posterior. So baby has come down without letting the cervix come first. She said this shouldnt cause problems though but when it does come down, baby will not take long to be out at all :s still roughly 1cm dilated too.

Been for a long walk by the river this evening, and I am having tightenings every 5-7mins, not painful just uncomfortable, and lower back ache/hip ache. baby is squirming around still, also it's been on the right of me for 9 weeks total, and today its on the left...

I just really dont think its ever coming out lol

MixedClassBaby · 24/05/2012 20:08

Any more news Little Ray? It surely can't be any longer for you???

Littlerayofsunshine · 24/05/2012 20:12

Still here :(

I have no idea when its going to happen. MW said its just a matter of contractions getting stronger/painful to bring cervix down.

Not sure what else to try.

To top it all off, I have a major toothache and chesty cough! DOH

tostaky · 25/05/2012 10:11

Thinking of you littleray... I'm sure your baby is on his/her way. Pre-labour can be very long (6 days for my second child) but it is needed!
Let us know of the post natal baby thread when your baby has made an appearance Wink good luck Smile

Hoping things are happening for you Little Ray. X

openerofjars · 25/05/2012 20:18

I bet they are: that's a good day of radio silence, there from Little Ray. Ooh, exciting! And v good news for her if it is.

I have the runs, sorry for tmi, and backache, but the first could be due to heat and fruit consumption (I've got a massive fruit craving for some reason) and the second is kind of normal for 39+4.

How's everyone else?
