im 40 weeks tomorrow...
since yesterday my belly is tightening at irregular interval and it is not painful in the slightest.
it is DC3 but im clueless (no contractions and emcs with DS1 and weird contractions for 6 days before having DS2)
i never had any BH either... so i am not sure what is happening?
my belly can be rock hard for a minute or so and then soften... baby is moving as usual.. what do you think it is? BH or very early contractions?

Still not here ;-(

Littlerayofsunshine · 27/05/2012 13:08

I keep getting moments where i need the toilet quick. the past 2 days. and more discharge (snotty tmi sometimes?) then sometimes theres nothing. BH's, lower backache, but no baby!!

StarlightMcKenzie · 27/05/2012 13:09

I've got a pickle of a DC3 too and get strong BH every evening from around 6pm until I go to bed. They come around 7-9 minutes and can be strong enough for me to get cross if anyone tries to talk to me at the time.

It's been going on for about 4 days........ Hmm

openerofjars · 28/05/2012 18:35

Same here, really quite painful now but I know it'll stop in a bit. It can't last forever. I have a bag of wine gums nobody else in the house knows about and I'm going to go and eat them and snooze. Don't anyone tell me I don't have plans. Grin

MixedClassBaby · 28/05/2012 19:31

LittleRay, I can't imagine how fed up you must be feeling. Hope so much it's very soon for you! Any news, opener?

openerofjars · 28/05/2012 19:56

Nah. Just a bump like a concrete football and an urge to viciously murder anyone who crosses my path. Grin

I reckon I've got at least until the weekend. I wouldn't mind but DH, who to be fair is at work 35 hours a week in a shirt and tie and actual shoes and socks in this heat, keeps complaining how difficult he's finding the hot weather.

He does look like he's been boiled in sweat, to be fair. I on the other hand get to fanny about in floaty tops, mning and eating ice lollies...

But it doesn't stop the concrete bowling ball thing feeling horrible.

Does anyone else find sitting on a sofa makes it worse?

Littlerayofsunshine · 28/05/2012 20:19

Looked in my notes and have noticed two EDD's. (21st & 23rd) either way i'm overdue.

Saw midwife today, another sweep, but cervix is still posterior. She couldnt quite reach it. still 1cm dilated she assumes. could be more. but baby is eager to come out being half way down the canal already but NEED the cervix t come down!

So fed up, induction booked for Monday - Really not what i want, and I feel like a failure if it comes to that - Considering DD came naturally.

openerofjars · 28/05/2012 20:37

You're not a failure. DS came naturally then got stuck: not my fault, or his, just the luck of the draw.

Please don't think you've failed. Your baby is fine, right? It might just need some help to get out. Not a failure. When the car's brakes or the leaky tap in the bathroom or whatever need sorting, you don't think, "Oh shit, I've failed." Right? Same with bodies. Sometimes they need a bit of help.

Also, you've been really stressed and now it's incredibly hot. That can't be making it any easier. Give yourself a break.

openerofjars · 28/05/2012 20:41

Plus, you know you don't have to have an induction? Google the NICE guidelines on induction for going over dates. You can go over the time that docs prefer, you just get offered more monitoring. Nobody every gave birth at 10 months pg.

Littlerayofsunshine · 28/05/2012 20:54

I dont want the baby to get too big though as i am feeling massive right now. :s

openerofjars · 28/05/2012 21:18

Not surprised, poor you. Hang on in there.

StarlightMcKenzie · 28/05/2012 21:22

Baby doesn't do much growing at the end so try not to worry!

tostaky · 29/05/2012 09:40

Opener - my belly was rock hard too a day or 2 before giving birth.. Not the nicest feeling! Are u having sweeps too?

Littleray - Bet he is a boy and your first one was a girl?!!!!
Have you tried acupuncture? My hospital offers. It for free to anybody that goes over their due date.
Agree with opener, at the end they don't grow bigger, they only grow their nails/hair, etc so don't worry too much about that,
Oh not too sure what to say... You've been waiting for so long...

Littlerayofsunshine · 29/05/2012 10:17

This one is unknown again!, but first was girl! 8lb9!

i feel sooooooo stretched. lumpy marks are sore!!!

openerofjars · 29/05/2012 14:26

Silly question, I'm sure, but if your menstrual cycle is longer than 28 days, would that make you more likely to go past the due date? Or is it not a relevant factor. I normally have a cycle of between 29 and 33 days, so was just having a small think.

Littlerayofsunshine · 29/05/2012 14:32

I have no idea. I used to have regular cycles, but then swapping a pill made them go a bit funny. After I had DD, my gp gave me a pill to start (i was also breastfeeding) so they took a while to come back. stopped the pill. and they came every 4-5weeks.

(She replies, having done a 2hour walk just now and sniffing clary sage oil) lol

StarlightMcKenzie · 29/05/2012 15:59

Yes open, but not really much more than your scan date!

openerofjars · 29/05/2012 16:11

On yes, forgot about that. Grin. So it really was quite a small think...

How many times, do you think, should a three year old watch A Turtle's Tale, per diem? Max?

Tostaky, no, no sweeps. I don't see the point and neither does the MW. Second baby, home birth, so I will see her next week if I go that far over, then we will have the chat about induction and sweeps etc, but I am not keen to start the process of intervention if I can help it. It'll come when it's ready, and I'm content to wait it out. For now.

I realise that totally contradicts what I posted to LittleRay yesterday but I don't feel that induction is right for me, at this stage, and I'm not that bothered about waiting another week or so. I have Haribo and a television

StarlightMcKenzie · 29/05/2012 16:15

I wouldn't ever agree to indication for going over dates. Either the baby is in danger or not. If not, leave be, if yes, get him out now!

StarlightMcKenzie · 29/05/2012 16:15

Induction ffs.

openerofjars · 29/05/2012 16:27

I'm with you on that, and the NICE guidelines support women's choice not to have it as well.

Littlerayofsunshine · 29/05/2012 18:49

I really don't like the thought of induction. But I really
Don't think I could carry past 42 weeks. This baby feels big already
DD was 8lb9 at 40+5. and having twinges on + off, I know baby wants to
Come when its ready but mw's have said that baby has been ready
For a while but the cervix hasn't joined its race yet.
I just feel very disheartened some silly reason. Just because DD
Came spontaneously.
