I'm exclusively bf and got AF after 4 months. Really didn't expect that til I stopped ebf!

Not had one yet - EBF twins to 6 months, still BF alongside food at 10.5 months. We're down to 3/4 feeds each now, but all during the night, which I think makes a difference.

I think it is completely normal for them to come back early, or stay away until you stop BFing.

18 months with DS1. Hoping for similar this time.

TittyBojangles · 10/09/2011 10:05

About 5 months, was still exclusively bf and during the night. DS is now 10mo and only feeds about 3/4 times a night day, but AF still going strong :( The idea that my body is prepared for another pregnancy is SCARY... I most certainly am NOT.

Sandalwood · 10/09/2011 10:05

I got mine very soon too. Only about 3 months.

ginmakesitallok · 10/09/2011 10:06

Early here too - with both ebf DDs got my period after 2-3 months

Risette · 10/09/2011 10:09

11 months with both of them - DC1 had slept through the night from 8 weeks, and was only having a couple of feeds a day. DC2 still feeding at night and a few times a day.

MissTinaTeaspoon · 10/09/2011 10:13

I ebf and had one 6 weeks later

SpangledPandemonium · 10/09/2011 10:14

Boosaphena · 10/09/2011 12:08

1st time I ebf till 6 months but carried on with food till 9, got it at 6 wks, 2nd bf til 10 months got af back once then fell with no 3 Blush

NotJustKangaskhan · 10/09/2011 12:26

19 months with DS1
15 months with DD1
14 months with DD2

Highlander · 10/09/2011 12:52

10 months DS1

18 months DS2

I think the longer you keep up night feeds, the longer it suppresses the normal menstrual cycle?

emmyloo2 · 10/09/2011 14:17

9 months after giving birth. Stopped breastfeeding at 5 mths

soandsosmum · 10/09/2011 15:59

Thanks ladies. Seems like there's wide variation. DD's been sleeping through for a month or so which sounds like a strong factor. Still, I think I'd rather have sleep and AF than neither :)

9 weeks with DS, 8 weeks with DD. In my case sleeping through had nothing to do with it, DS was still waking for a night feed at nearly a year!
PMT, disrupted sleep and mad new baby hormones are not a good combination, I can tell you...

Georgimama · 11/09/2011 07:34

nine or ten months.

eaglewings · 11/09/2011 07:45

2 years
Friend who EBF got hers after 6 weeks :(
She didn't use dummies, feed through the night etc

Charleymouse · 11/09/2011 07:46

15-18 months each time. Hurrah for BF!

mamaesi · 11/09/2011 13:18

10 months, just after I stopped breast feeding.

saoirse86 · 11/09/2011 15:45

aliceliddell · 11/09/2011 15:50

verylittlecarrot · 11/09/2011 15:53
