Just wondering, do they always book separate appointment for a sweep? Or do they drop it into a regular appointment?

Back from sports day and even te excitment of seeing my DS win two races was not enough. This baby is too comfy. Curry for supper tonight.

Hormoneoverload · 28/06/2011 12:08

Make it a hot one Wink

Had sweep yesterday, mw said I was 3cms dilated and 'favourable', stretched to 5cms (ouch, thanks for that). Bloody show and cramps all day, then.........

nothing.

Back to mw thursday for repeat, when i will be 40+8. Who is most overdue currently (I am 40+6 today).

Well done cutiecat's son! Maybe you should have participated, that might have helped. No?

Hormoneoverload · 28/06/2011 14:28

3cm seems like practically in labour-very unfair for you. Sad. Maybe today? I'm 40 + 5 today (or due-depending on the date usedWink). Bought a pineapple today - will sniffing it be sufficient?

OP posts:
Hormoneoverload · 28/06/2011 14:30

Oh-and also booked for sweep Thursday too (40 + 7). Found out least favourite midwife on holiday this week-perhaps that'll set me off!

OP posts:
elseIlltellyourfather · 28/06/2011 14:36

I don't think sniffing it will work - I have consumed 6 Grin

Hormoneoverload · 28/06/2011 14:39

The pineapple thing must be a hoax dreamt up by pineapple growers! Would say same about curries only started strong contractions seconds after starting eating hot curry.

OP posts:
Hormoneoverload · 28/06/2011 14:40

With dd - no strong contractions with this one!

OP posts:
kitcat83 · 28/06/2011 21:04

Hi ladies, still with you I'm afraid.

Hope that your all as fed up as me, sorry!

I will be 40+5 tomorrow and have my second sweep booked for friday, hope the threat of that sends me into labour before then........

I too have had enough spicy food, pineapple and raspberry leaf tea to last a lifetime. Lets hope it all starts for us all tonight Smile

Hormoneoverload · 28/06/2011 22:20

Yes, lots of babies by tomorrow! Just had the first "what if I don't go into labour?" thoughts - ever really. Week early with dd, three over with ds. Mustn't go there-only five days over date I think was too early.

Dd made a card at school today saying " mummy I want the new baby to come out now". With a Christmas tree on it. Hope that's not when it is going to arrive!

totally agree... have had to go restock fridge and also rewash sheets and retidy house etc etc. having thought baby would come once house was in order, now also trying reverse psychology. am leaving dishes and general mess tonight in order to encourage sod's law and contractions!

Cutiecat · 29/06/2011 00:05

I am still here too. Today we have had sex, eaten curry and massaged clary sage in my belly. Still nothing. I am uncomfortable and going for a long walk tomorrow.

I am thinking of you all.
x

Cutiecat · 29/06/2011 04:55

Hormoneoverload - any twinges?

Was woken up by really uncomfortable bump. I have a continuous dull ache right now. But not sure if that is from the sex we had yesterday. It was not the most pleasurable experience ever. Sorry if TMI. Having a horlicks and a custard cream. Am going to try to read my book for a bit but baby is having a real kick about. I never understood women being desperate to get their babies out UNTIL now. Baby - today would be a good day. X

Hormoneoverload · 29/06/2011 07:19

Nothing! Not resorting to the drastic measures described above unless sure and certain of success. Not sure even dh wants to go that far Grin. Think I need to try hard today not to descend into the grumpy overdue woman mode! Will try to get house back in order and do some cooking. And go to softplay with ds (and friend-can't get through some of the gaps at the mo!).
Hoping for the moment where one of us gets some contraction action!

By the way welcome Stella! And by drastic measures I meant the Horlicks! Hope you all have good days. Smile

GRRRR! Still no baby!

I have tried EVERYTHING- sex, curry, teas, pineapple, homeopathy, acupuncture, a sweep and still nothing.

I just walked DS to nursery and had everyone asking me if if I had had the baby, when was I going to have the baby, why hadnt I had the baby????? Confused - I DONT KNOW!!! shall I get my crystal ball out?!

Then on the walk home a woman I dont even know bellowed across the road in front of people- "NOT HAD THE BABY YET THEN?" er no I havnt and who are you? she then got in her car and curb crawled me asking me if I had tried curry and pineapple- fuck off- off course I have you idiot

AND BREATHE

Cutiecat · 29/06/2011 12:53

Kitcat - i am feeling your pain. Totally fed up with the continual phonecalls and texts. School runs are a nightmare. DH is home from work just waiting. No pressure at all. I have booked in a reflexology session for tonight so hopefully that will sort me out or failing that i amhaving a sweep tomorrow.

Thinking of you. Xxx

Hormoneoverload · 29/06/2011 14:33

School runs!!!!! Lovely that lots of people interested - but please stop stating or asking the blooming obvious!!! It's the multiplying the same helpful comment by twenty that does it! But lots of offers of help absolutely lovely. Makes me think I'd like to remember what people have offered to do for us and do it for people not having a baby-just take another child to the park for half an hour after drop off, that kind of thing.

Very well worded summing up of the worst aspects of being late by the way. For me, the thing that keeps me going is the last few days ever of having a taut firm tummy in my life.Grin
Will chocolate brownie bring on the baby? Hope so because it's what I'm having now !!

Hormoneoverload · 30/06/2011 07:06

Nothing to report here-anyone else? Hoping someone has good news. Sweep today-had thought about not having it but changed my mind after a night of poor sleep. So I'd like to have the baby so I can get some sleep.....Wink

OP posts:
Cutiecat · 30/06/2011 08:06

Reflexology was lovely last night and i slept well. Being swept this afternoon. Off to DDs sports day this morning. I am starting to think that it might be the stress of the overdue situation that is stopping the labour from starting.

kitcat83 · 30/06/2011 11:09

Still with you all ladies. Cant believe no one has started labour yet?!!

Got my DS(4) school visit this afternoon so hoping it all starts after that. Have been shopping, tidied house and about to do the ironing, so hoping that once this is all done baby can make an appearance!

Currently though am sat with my feet up with some iced coffee and chocolate croissants, yummo.

Good luck ladies

kitcat83 · 30/06/2011 11:10

PS I also had some accupressure last night so thats another alternative therapy off the list Smile

Hormoneoverload · 30/06/2011 11:19

I know! Do you think we'll all just go together? Just in case anyone's waiting for me-I'm ready! Hope school visit goes well. So...acupressure no result-let me know if the iced coffee and croissant works! WinkHaving sweep this afternoon. Wondering if that has any proven benefit? After all they do it when you're overdue so guess it's hard to tell if it worked or you were just ready?

Quite enjoying today-maybe that's the prob-just pottering with ds who is on charming good form.

Sweep was ok. Still not effaced but cervix soft. She could get her fingers in to stretch so lets hope. I am booked in for an induction on the 6th july! Seems a long way off. Fingers crossed ladies. X
