That's that really...

I'm 37+2 with my first and was wondering what I could expect. Everyone's different of course, but was just curious..

Eek, I would vastly prefer to be "average" than like my mother!

My mum was induced twice to no avail with me, then had an emergency C section when I went into distress. Then she had my brother who took ages and had to have an episiotomy and forceps. No epidurals available as the hospital didn't have an anaesthetist available.

Despite the trepidation, I am reading this thread with fascination from the relative safety of 10+5! So happy to see most stories end with "it doesn't matter if it goes wrong, it will still be worth it" or words to that effect.

2 hours from waters breaking until baby arrived... very quick and so much better than I imagined in every way!

36 hours of steady contractions. VERY slow to dilate. Didn't mind as she came flying out without any pushing on my part once she was ready. Two surges and she was there, no tears or rips.

My waters broke at 8pm precisely and DD was born the next day at 12:59, noon.
Was in established labour for 9 hours and 59 minutes. Second stage was the worst as DD turned out to be back to back and took 2 hours.

All very straightforward apart from her coming out facing up instead of down!

Show to birth - 31 hours

jezebelle · 16/05/2011 14:21

49 minutes from show to baby born. It was like one huge bloody contraction, couple of pushes and there she was, may sound great but actually it was awfully traumatic, so much so i'm about to have dc 3 and am requesting a section.
