What colours can waters be?!

I think mine just broke, can't be sure, have terrible cough.. could have been wetting myself but had no control over the flow no need to go to the loo.. was sort of straw coloured don't think it smelled, can't smell very well right now though! was already wearing pad, soaked through that and left a very large puddle in a pair of DH's boxers... and went through 3 inch wad of tissue... now just feel sort of leaky.. think i need to go poop

what happens now, and what did just happen?!

37 weeks and 1 by the way second baby but never given birth naturally before... oh i need to poop!

oooooooo hope all is well and the labour isn't still on going xx

hester · 04/10/2005 18:12

So sorry you're not going to get your homebirth, FA - I know how much you were looking forward to it - but hope all is going well. I've been thinking of you all day.

mears · 04/10/2005 18:46

Fastasleep - going to be contraversial here but it is a subject that really annoys me. You have every right to have a homebirth if that is waht you want. There is no evidence if increased infection before 92 hours of waters breaking. In my area home births are from 37 weeks, not 38.

If you want a homebirth, that is your right. If you developed a temperature, waters changed to green, baby stopped moving then transfer to hospital is advisable. However, it is your choice whether you take that advice.

I get so angry when women are denied choice.

Sometimes I despair of my profession

fastasleep · 04/10/2005 20:47

Ello, Mears there was a lovely MW at the hospital just like you who despaired at her profession too after my sorry tales of woe lol but by 4am I wasn't going anywhere I really didn't think I'd be able to do it! But I did, Sophia was finally born in hospital at 10:37am after contractions from 3am onwards! Argh! No tears, no grazes, she's a beautiful 6lbs 6oz, not feeding well yet though - which is why I must run off!

I got out of having any needles whatsoever though, and only gas and air for the delivery go meee! lol

Thank everyone!!

Aww CONGRATULATIONS on your new dd fastasleep

mears · 04/10/2005 20:54

Congratulations fastasleep. Remember that the best way to entice a sleepy baby to feed is to have as much skin-to-skin contact as possible. No doubt she will waken with a bang
