What colours can waters be?!

I think mine just broke, can't be sure, have terrible cough.. could have been wetting myself but had no control over the flow no need to go to the loo.. was sort of straw coloured don't think it smelled, can't smell very well right now though! was already wearing pad, soaked through that and left a very large puddle in a pair of DH's boxers... and went through 3 inch wad of tissue... now just feel sort of leaky.. think i need to go poop

what happens now, and what did just happen?!

37 weeks and 1 by the way second baby but never given birth naturally before... oh i need to poop!

if it's not wee then it's your waters

you need to call your midwife or hospital
if no contractions then they usually want you to go in and get checked out

good luck

ebbie22 · 03/10/2005 19:37

Sounds very much like the beginning of labour to me - stay awake now, Fastasleep! Will look forward to your birth announcement!

What happens now...lots of possibilities - what happened to me was that my contractions started very soon after my waters broke, got stronger and within a very few hours, I had my lovely DS

fastasleep · 03/10/2005 19:39

I was meant to be having a homebirth but not before 38 weeks appareantly, should I bother calling them...

Oh my I've never been so scared lol

no contractions..

CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

foxinsocks · 03/10/2005 19:41

call them!

my waters broke with my second (at 37 weeks) and I didn't call (thinking I had loads of time) and by the time I got to hosp, the baby was practically out.

Go!!!

tribpot · 03/10/2005 19:41

Mine were more sort of milky coloured than straw, but that totally sounds like waters breaking to me. I ended up sitting in a massive puddle in the hospital bed (waters were broken to induce labour) and I think the midwives had underestimated the number of pads I might need to soak it all up. In fact if it happens next time I think I will ask for a bucket!

As the others have said, phone the hospital, go go go!

Mum2OneAndBump · 03/10/2005 19:42

oh how exciting yes you must call them sounds like it was your waters goodluck i hope it all goes well and will be looking out for your birth story.

fastasleep · 03/10/2005 19:43

Ok.... 15 minutes and parents in law will be here, that's enough time.. right? We're just going straight to the delivery suite... no contractions and she's wriggly.. just had another small gush... thanks everyone see you later

My waters started leaking at 38.3, they tested them at the hospital and confirmed it was my waters and then they kept me in and induced me after 24 hours. I had to stay until DD was born 2 days later! I'm sure the guidelines have changed now and that they allow you home.

LilacLotus · 03/10/2005 19:43

good luck!!!

MarsLady · 03/10/2005 19:44

So if you've got 15 minutes..................

how many levels do you think that you could crack? lmao

Lonelywitch · 03/10/2005 19:44

Don't panic! My waters borke with ds1 (I wasn't in much doubt TBH although it wasn't a flood) but I ended up being induced over 24 hours later as I had no contractions. So don't worry that the baby is about to pop.

But you need to get this looked at in case it is your waters. You sound like you might be in for a few exciting hours!

kid · 03/10/2005 19:45

Are you still scared or excited now?

Lonelywitch · 03/10/2005 19:45

Ooh it must be your waters form what you last said! How exciting!
