Paid for private test as have looked after some v poorly babies who contracted GBS. Having read up on it it seems the ideal is to have IV antibiotics throughout labour (if there's time!) then the baby needs to be observed for a day or so afterwards (so no early discharge which is fine).
Just wondered if anyone else in same boat or has been through it.

Was originally told by midwife to wait until contractions are 3-4minutes apart before going to hospital but thinking I should probably go in sooner to allow time for IV antibiotics.....

Hello Gingerbics

I was GBS+ and went to hosp when contractions were about 3-4 mins apart. Upon arrival my waters broke and the mw toddled off to get the AB prescription from the doctors in the consultant led part of the hospital.
At which point I realised I needed to push and I was yelling asking for the IV ABs
DS was born 3 hours after we go there.
4 hours is best case scenario but as long as they're administered before baby comes out I believe that's okay.

And yes, we stayed in for about 36 hours in total after the birth but that could have been more to do with timings - DS born v early morning and then it was the w/e so we had to wait for sign off from the paediatrician following obs.

Hope this sets your mind at rest - good luck with the impending arrival
