I can't find any recent threads on this subject so would like to know your experiences. I had stitches etc and I am petrified of it hurting, I am sure this is a common problem, so maybe you lovely ladies might have some reassuring words?!

4 weeks. Was on some kind of post birth high so could have within a week except body was wrecked with stitches. By 4 weeks, euphoria had worn off so i wasn't quite in the mood but I didn't want to leave it too long as I was nervous. DH was very very gentle though and it was good to get the first time out of the way. It was a bit sore after but not really painful. Took another month or two before I wasn't worrying about pain and that is when we started to get back to normal.

From talking to friends I think it can depend on how active you were in pregnancy -dh and I enjoyed sex right to the end so didn't have the awkwardness of having not had sex for a long while, but other friends who didn't really have sex during pregnancy took much longer as I think they had to rebuild a bit of intimacy before they could go for it iyswim. Everyone got therre in the end which is the important thing.

Well done :) it does get better, promise!

i gave birth 4 weeks ago and had forceps/episiotomy which seems to have healed ok, so am planning to give it a go some time between now and my 6 week check. am a bit nervous though!

sunndydays · 16/08/2010 12:11

I had episiotomy failed ventouse and forceps, I was so scared it would hurt and it was a little tender going in Grin but once we were there it wasn't painful at all so don't be nervous, if you are tense it is more likely to hurt

1 week each time, I think its ok as long as you use condoms, we were always really keen to get back in the saddle, felt completly loved up and it jsut seemed natural.

Ineedsomesleep · 16/08/2010 12:32

Think it was about 3 months each time. Had stitches with DC1 and was just knackered after having DC2.

hildathebuilder · 16/08/2010 12:38

about 8 weeks in my case, but DS was very very early so he'd been in NICU and then SCBU for just short of those 8 weeks. I really didn't feel like it while I was trekking to and from the hospital every day. After he came home I think we just went for it due to the relief he was home.
