I can't find any recent threads on this subject so would like to know your experiences. I had stitches etc and I am petrified of it hurting, I am sure this is a common problem, so maybe you lovely ladies might have some reassuring words?!

with dd1 I had stitches and was scared, and it was mooooooonths, but when it did happen it was fine and super and... well, twas ok Wink

with dd2 I was a bit more confident to go for it a bit earlier but I still made dp wait until dd2 was three days old.

With ds it was ages again but that was more through circumstance - two small babies, mother in the house, absolutely NO sleep for months - think it was about two months but can't remember exactly.

hth

DD cant remember, choose not to, ex H- yuck!
DS 4 days.

lucykate · 10/08/2010 19:15

night before the 6 week check up both times, for medical reasons really, just to make sure everything still worked!

AllSheepareWhite · 10/08/2010 19:25

Had EMCS after failed ventouse and forceps so waited 5 weeks, was slightly painful at first, but persisted and got easier and more enjoyable :). Didn't feel completely 'normal' inside for 4 months after birth though.

Marjee · 10/08/2010 20:12

5 weeks for me, I had an episiotomy and lots of stitches! I was scared to try in case it hurt but at the same time wanted to make sure everything was ok before my 6 week check

Bechka · 10/08/2010 20:25

ELCS and two weeks

foreverastudent · 10/08/2010 20:31

a friend told me (but I dont know if I believe her) that her and her DP were at it while she was still in hospital!

Cazzr · 10/08/2010 20:32

Erm, question for the peeps doing it after 3/4 days (eeek, I was NOWHERE near ready at that point following 2nd deg tear)...

Were you still bleeding at this point? No judging honestly, just curious. I know some people stop bleeding quicker than others.

3 days? Jesus, I could barely even wee at 3 days.

Bechka · 10/08/2010 21:27

Not bleeding. I think with the CS they took a lot of the excess blood out during the operation, as I had nothing worse than a period, and it stopped after days rather than weeks.

Cluds · 11/08/2010 09:56

3 days? blimey there is no way I'm going to let my husband know that! After DS1 was 11 weeks as had infection in my stitches and they hadn't dissolved and was on antibiotics. DS2 was 4 weeks as also had stitches.

beckie90 · 11/08/2010 10:27

i had stiches on the labia and right at the side of where ds come out, sorrt tmi and was swollen really bad for 1st week i was walking really really strange. but it was 2 weeks and the 1st time it hurt and stung

IsabellaSwan · 12/08/2010 11:23

I think you're supposed to wait until you stop bleeding (to make sure you've healed inside). So 7 weeks for me.

Bumpsadaisie · 12/08/2010 12:19

Forceps and episiotomy (no trouble with it). Was about three weeks I think.

It didn't hurt but it wasn't the most exciting session ever, with my boobs leaking milk and us both hurrying to get the deed done before DD woke up again. However it was nice to have the connection again.

Flisspaps · 15/08/2010 19:50

Forceps and episiotomy AND 3rd degree tear - 3 weeks, but finally getting back to some sort of normal sex life at 5 months!

LibertyGibbet · 15/08/2010 19:54

I had an episiotomy, attempted ventouse and manual rotation and then em cs. I bled for 6 weeks.

We didn't have sex for 9 months as I had crippling ptsd and was terrified of getting pg.

It's not actually safe to have sex within days is it?

With DD I had 2nd degree tear, waited until after 6 week check and got GP to have look (was actually at 7 weeks). It was fine.

With DS1 and DS2 no tears or stitches, waited until bleeding had 100% stopped so around 4 weeks.

I would have thought best to wait until bleeding stopped.

carocaro · 15/08/2010 20:57

still waiting 3,5 years on, yes seriously.

FrozenNorth · 15/08/2010 21:15

About 5 months with DD1. Six months and counting with DD2. Disclaimer: DH has been working and living elsewhere during the week for the last year.
