No twinges.

No show.
Nothing.

Just outrageously Bad Tempered.
With DD I went into labour on the due date and she was born the next morning, and I just assumed it'd be similar this time round.
I might kill the next muppet well-wishing relative/friend that Just Rings To See How I Am.

Nope, we decided to have a surprise-gender-baby. What we've actually GROWN in here is a lazy sod who's too comfy by half, but heyho...,

{Big Brother Voice}
"Day 40 In the Womb and everyone's asleep...."

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 24/07/2010 14:33

Ah you're having a surprise too blackcurrants . Everyone seems quite surprised when I say we don't know the sex

Still nothing today [bounce] [bounce] [bounce]

YY to full moon theory btw. DP has just reminded me that we think the baby was concieved on Hallowe'en, which was a full moon, so maybe, just maybe, thats what s/he is holding on for now...?

You could try acupuncture. My latest client had acupuncture and the baby was born the next day.

So, you can book in some treats. Foot massage is good. Reflexology. Acupuncture (as mentioned above). Acupressure. Lots of sex! Yes LOTS! Nipple stimulation (get your partner to play around there a lot and rub your nipples between his thumb and forefinger, or use his mouth).

Term is 37-42 weeks so you may still have a way to go but I hope you manage to go into labour soon and have wonderful births.

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 24/07/2010 15:03

I know, I know [howls]

I'm mainly getting fed up of telling other people that term is 37-42 weeks, and only 8% of babies are born 'on time' yada yada. The neighbour who keeps yelling 'come on with that baby!' every time she sees me is getting some very Paddington-esque Hard Stares. Not sure she has noticed though

Foot massage sounds blissful...

Heheheeeee, I feel MUCH better this morning after following through with my decision to respond to "Any news?" "Haven't you had that baby yet?" type messages online with the response "OH DO FUCK OFF"

Deeply theraputic.
Spent afternoon bouncing on ball, eating cake. Now for nap before swanky night out (as swanky as I can get while this size) - determined to celebrate my due date with a posh dinner and drinkies in the west village, while I still can.
Distractions, my friends. Distractions are the only way to go!

(I think we conceived around Halloween too. Would explain why DEMONBABY is STILL INSIDE, DAAMNIT!)

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 25/07/2010 11:12

And today..... still nothing.

Drove up and down our mile-long untarmacced and very bumpitty driveway twice this morning. All that achieved was to nearly make me piss myself [classy]

yep, still here also. now 41+2 weeks. had sweep on friday which has only resulted in two days of cramping but not amounting to anything exciting. Induction booked for weds. sigh and to top it off next door has had her twins early, so i awake to the sounds of little babies. Sooo cute, but im sooo annoyed!

Rocinante · 25/07/2010 11:53

Can I join in? 41 weeks today, and totally fed up.

Have tried fresh pineapple, curry, red wine, pizza and bouncing like a loon on my exercise ball. Oh and a sweep from MW. No help.

Went for a mammoth walk yesterday up the only gradient I could find in Suffolk, but nothing. Today I've been hoovering cobwebs and mopping floors and still not a twinge.

DH is fretting about the timing of his paternity leave, I'm hiding from everyone as I can't take any more obvious questions and we're both just generally frustrated.

DD1 was just a day late so we thought this one would be early or on time. Can't bear the thought of another week of this .

blackcurrants · 25/07/2010 12:26

oh Rocinante! [hugs, massive-bump style]

You are more than welcome to join in! Let me expansively open the door to a place where we never, EVER, ever hear anyone ask "Any news?" in a bright, glib, brainless manner - without then stabbing them repeatedly in the face .

Went for a long walk last night while looking meaningfully at the full moon, thinking "Do your magic, then!" I hauled myself up a massive flight of steps, which got me sweaty and knackered (it's very hot here - 34C today but so humid it's going to feel like 40c - yurgh) and also last night I had a bumpy ride on the subway while leaning forward, and even contemplated ravaging DH, but fell asleep instead (oh yeah, that'll bring 'em running).

Nothing.

There was a massive thunderclap in the middle of the night which woke up DH "What was that?" and the foetus, which started burrowing frantically. "Thunder" I muttered, and went back to sleep thinking "yeah, I hope that scared you out, you little lodger...."

Nothing! I have the most zen foetus in the WORLD! (should we say lazy? let's say lazy). Bloody squatter!

Alicetheinvisible · 25/07/2010 13:09

I will be 38wks tomorrow and despite going into prem labour at 28wks and having contractions on and off since, no baby as yet. Feel way to comfortable for 38wks, there is no chance this baby is coming out on time. DD was born a day late after a 30hr labour.

I am booking a pedicure and foot massage for this week though, then need to think of something nice for the following week

Rocinante · 25/07/2010 13:25

Thanks Blackcurrants. At least it's got a bit cooler here - 40C sounds like hell for you.

We're braving the village pub for lunch in a minute - I shall try not to be too rude to anyone who mentions that "it still hasn't come then".

lifeistooshort · 25/07/2010 15:39

Well I am still here too despite having a lot of show since Thursday and contractions on Friday evening, saturday morning and yesterday evening. Still nothing....

jendaisy I actually said the line about stuffing the pillow and hiding the baby to someone at DD school on Friday. I really don't mind about my friends asking me if I haven't had the baby yet etc...But this woman at DD school whom I have never spoken to before. Approached me quite aggressively to asked me why I hadn't had the baby yet in a tone demanding answers. I thought she was so bloody rude I told her that in fact I had had the baby and we were hiding it and that I like being pregnant so much I was stuffing a pillow down my top....Her face was absolutely priceless and she just walked off.

Yesterday DH's plan to get DC3 out was to go to the seaside but that didn't work. And I feel a little let down by the full moon! Oh well eventually he will have to come out won't he?

blackcurrants · 25/07/2010 16:26

I love that you did that life - you've just become my personal hero!
I think lots of fun day trips are the only way ahead, whether or not it gets them out. I also feel let down by the failure of the full moon, but you're right. We can't STAY pregnant for ever. No one does....right?

EnglandAllenPoe · 25/07/2010 16:36

i am 38.5 weeks and not allowed to go into labour yet until our blardy bathroom is finished.

Dp is not finishing it, but at his mums doing some work she needs doing (in Cornwall, so I'm doubly not allowed to go into labour)

he is back tomorrow.

average gestation for spontaneous labour = 40 &8 i believe...

i can't recommend nipple stimulation enough!

LittleMs · 25/07/2010 18:40

It's not full moon yet! It may look full, but it turns into full moon early hours on Monday.

Though so far no (extra) twinges for me either in spite turning 41 week today...

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 25/07/2010 18:43

It's full moon at 1.37 monday morning according to the MN Moonwatch thingy.

I will be outside moonbathing in it if nothing is happening by then

Are you going to do a naked induction dance?

Edgar - i am not allowed either as although our bathroom is now finished, our kitchen is being started this week madness i tell you!

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 25/07/2010 18:47

Ummm... maybe - do you think it'll help???

OP posts:
Alicetheinvisible · 25/07/2010 19:04

Are you not ready to try anything?

sophieandbelly · 25/07/2010 19:06

its very annoying the comments i remember saying 'o yes i have had i 2 weeks ago i just didnt tell u!' aaaggghhhhh i didnt share ur frustration as i was teffified of labour (not that there was any need)
so never wished the baby along!! how mean is that just because i was scared, my partner on other hand was so excited that every day was comming home with pineapple rasberry leaf tea etc!! she arrived at 40+3.

good luck and dont answer the bloody phone.

p.s when i did go into labour i text the people i wanted to and said please dont phone i will keep u up dated, cant believe people still try ringing u in labour

EnglandAllenPoe · 25/07/2010 19:22

"cant believe people still try ringing u in labour"

!! imagine the ansaphone mesage 'X is in labour, please eff off, unless you want to get sworn at even more loudly by a woman in a lot of pain....'

EnglandAllenPoe · 25/07/2010 19:24

Edgar - i am not allowed either as although our bathroom is now finished, our kitchen is being started this week madness i tell you!

Tis crazy indeed!

but then i reckon any job that doesn't get done in these closing weeks, will then be on hold for a further 6 months until baby is a bit less demanding.

So long as bathroom is finished prior to week 39 - our bedroom is next. The Aeroglypta must perish.

lifeistooshort · 26/07/2010 10:38

Still here. I have decided not to answer the phone anymore. People keep ringing but don't actually speak too me, I am that much of a timebomb waiting to explode at 41 weeks, I could blow up by phone....

Very fed up and tired and emotional here. I had some contractions and show on Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday evening, yesterday afternoon, yesterday evening and on and off since 5.30 this morning as well as more gunk coming out. Despite all that, still no signs that the baby is actually coming out or that I am in proper labour yet. I cannot sleep and I am utterly tired and grumpy.

I am also starting to worry that labour will be supra long and painful and that I won't be able to cope because I am already struggling with my 4-6 hours of daily contractions. At this rate before the end of the week I will be begging the hospital for a c section instead of having the home birth I was dreaming off!

How is everyone else today?

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 26/07/2010 10:45

Ratty!

Absolutely no signs that anything is happening any time soon. Even braxton hicks seem to have eased off over the last few days

lifeistooshort you have my full sympathy, especially with the emotional bit - I keep bursting into tears over nothing. And I can't sleep comfortably, and I need a wee every 45 minutes, and my arrangement of pillows keep falling off the bd in the night, and and and...
