If you had £30k to buy a suv - what would get?

Current favourite is Kia Sportage, mainly for comfortable seats. Also looking at Volvo XC30, VW Tiguan or Hyndi Tuscon.

Kids are young adults but we sometimes all go out together, mainly DH and me. Help?

It’s ridiculous the misinformation that goes around about electric cars and especially Chinese cars. People need to stop going on Facebook so much

Get a Honda CRV or a Toyota. Super reliable.

@Shade17 Another load of b/s. I’ve had a variety of JLR cars since 1993. Range Rovers, Discoveries, Evoque etc. All been great with no issues at all. All have good off road capabilities and built quality is superb. They have not gone wrong at all but we maintain our cars well. DH likes his Porsche Macans too.

The much loved Toyota brand have umpteen recalls over the years and why buy Chinese cheap flawed vehicles when so many others are so much better. And that includes any JLR vehicle.

I love my sportage ( petrol ) , but when the time comes for a new one I’m considering going fully electric and eyeing up a BYD , I think you may even scrape brand new with 30k

Do you all work/drive on building sites or farm yards? What the hell do you all need these large SUVs for? I personally think you all need new Brains. Any vehicle with S or Sport incurs a large insurance penalty plus are more expensive to run with either diesel or petrol.

Not B/S at all. Try reading reliability surveys, working in the industry or speak to the people who build them or have to repair them. I work in the industry, a good friend builds engines in the JLR factory. The stories are eye watering, he would never EVER buy one.

Subaru Forester (or Outback) incredibly comfortable, drives well, excellent road holding, lots of interior space/leg-room and a decent boot. Most modern SUVs slope drastically down at the back and this really reduces head room and boot space. I drove a Kia Sportage for a while and have now gone back to a Subaru Forester, the Sportage just didn’t compare.

Anyone working for JLR often gets one as a company car. They are fantastic cars and plenty of good makes have the odd reliability issue but mine never have. They are much better at their job than Chinese crap and I think reliability surveys are usually the moaners. People bit JLR cars on repeat. They even make the Disco with a very large not sloping down roof!

I have a 3 year old Volvo XC40, top spec, perfect condition. Cost less than 30k... would highly recommend 👌

At the beginning of the year i bought a 9mth old Honda HR-V for 26k - a brand new one would have been around 35k. It is top spec and only 3k miles. If i had a 30k budget I'd get a 1-2 yr old Honda CR-V which is a bit bigger. I like Honda's as they have magic folding seats that I've found really useful. Plus they're very reliable.8

Not sure what fuel type you want. I've got the twin motor EV XC40, with all of the extra kit. It is really lovely to drive and quite funny when you're sitting next to a boy racer at lights and leave them behind. The sound system is also better than anything we have in our house. I've been looking for a new car - the XC30 seems tiny on the inside, but is even faster. I'm not sure I'd want to go bigger - we can just open doors in a normal parking space, so I think the bigger Volvos would be too big for me. But the XC40 doesn't feel much bigger than my old Golf inside.

Having had a look at a few other cars and lots when I was originally getting mine, I think I will stick with my XC40 as nothing else I have looked at is a patch on it.

Love my Volvo XC40 R-design pro automatic. I also have a Hyundai Kona (The Tuscon is a bit bigger, although a lot more expensive) n-line s. It has a lot more kit than the Volvo, although not the same presence, but is so easy to drive. Its adaptive cruise control is a game changer when driving long distances.
