Hello, I claim carers and Dla for my daughter who has profound autism, she’s 5 next week and we sent the renewal forms away in January for her dla, I’ve just recieved a letter from carers saying that because my dla claim is ending so is my carers claim on the 13/5 I’ve called dla and they’ve said it’s not ending, that they should be done processing our renewal by the 8/5 has anyone had this? What happened?

It doesn’t look like your DLA renewal has been successful

3rdtimeidiot · 24/04/2025 18:11

I don’t understand how though, my daughter can’t speak, she elopes constantly, she only eats like 5 foods, she dosnt sleep she defecates on the walls, she is in a specialist school 🤨 if that’s the case I just don’t understand

I don't think it's ending I think just that is the current information on the system. Your carers might end and then have to be backdated. Sure I've read that's what happens

How did you come to that conclusion??

when she called, they said it's not ending.

@3rdtimeidiot

It sounds like there's just the overlap in paperwork (G what a surprise🙄🙄)

it really should sort itself out once the DLA paperwork is complete completed

There's absolutely no way that you can't qualify for the carers allowance with your DD's extensive needs 💕

Normally for a renewal you still carry on getting dla whilst they make a decision. I have tk for it every 2 or 3 years . Abd my cares has never stopped. I hope you get it sorted. Have you called caeres? Maybe it's an error .

Hopefully the paperwork will catch up between the eighth and the 13th and there won't need to be a break, but it's possible and possible that then they will make a back payment, it's all so arse about face🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

ginasevern · 24/04/2025 18:27

I think your carer's allowance will resume once the DLA renewal has been processed. Everything grinds to a halt until the final rubber seal has been put on your claim.

ButtonMoonLoon · 24/04/2025 18:33

Don't panic!

This happens really often- it's a standard letter that the DWP send out when time is getting closer for a claim being up for renewal.
DLA claims and renewals are looked at closer to the time of renewal than used to be the case, so hopefully you will hear soon.

ButtonMoonLoon · 24/04/2025 18:34

Also....your Carers allowance is highly likely to continue as usual with no breaks.

They did not say it’s ending

they said the renewal was being processed

they said the renewal was being processed

They didn’t not say it wasn’t ending
they said it was ongoing renewal

Curioushoney · 24/04/2025 19:11

“Processing the renewal”
is a contradiction of “it’s not ending”

if the renewal is still being processed, then they wouldn’t be able to confirm to you it’s not ending

3rdtimeidiot · 24/04/2025 19:31

WeekendFreedom · 24/04/2025 18:37

What do you mean by she elopes constantly?

Runs away in public, she has to wear a wrist strap rein in public otherwise she would be in serious danger, she has no danger awareness, I think it’s called eloping

What they said was there’s indication on their system that’s it’s coming to end, just that the renewal should be processed by the 8th, my daughter is turning 5 on the 2nd of may

There’s no indication I mean

if renewal processing completion soon you will receive the decision in the post soon

if still processing, they wouldn’t know the outcome

Ahh I see, I was confused because I thought elope just meant run away to get married, I didn’t realise it could mean a child escaping.
My nephew does this he also has reigns and no sense of danger

mintydoggyv · 24/04/2025 20:44

If you phoned up universal credit up and they said it was being processed then it is . l don't understand the letter have you changed from tax credits to universal credit at all . If it was confirmed over phone after you had the letter then ok . Dwp
