It wasn't ovarian, it was lymphoma

My original thread is nearly full, hence starting this one.

I knew I probably had cancer in late July 2025 but it took until the end of August to get a definitive diagnosis: Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma, Stage 4.

I have had six rounds of chemo, the last of which was on 12 December. Had a lot of nausea and vomiting, plus an infection which left me hospitalised on oxygen and IV antibiotics for a while. I am extremely weak now, and waiting to find out whether the cancer is still active. (A scan at the half way point showed it was.)

Obviously things will be very different in 2026 and go one of two ways, depending on the scan result, which I will find out on Friday 16th January.

(Not sure why that takes you to the middle of the thread; sorry.)

Hurrah! That's great news. Keeping my fingers crossed that you don't get too many side effects from the vaccines.

Well, that was a very expensive waste of time and money. Went out to a posh restaurant for lunch and I have sicked it all up again. I think the food was just too rich and it was all very strongly flavoured. I was sick in the restaurant loo at the end of the meal, thought I was ok to go home but had to get the taxi driver to stop so I could be sick again. At least I wasn't sick in the car. Now I'm home but feel awful so might not manage a walk today.

So sorry to hear that. A bit of a blip to navigate in the general positive trajectory.

It's the third time I've been sick in two weeks, having not been sick for months previously. I'm a bit worried about it. The message I got back from the doctors was "Do you still have some anti-sickness meds? Take those."

I couldn't walk today (weather wasn't great either, rained this afternoon/evening) so I have to walk tomorrow as otherwise I will fall miles behind target, especially as I don't expect to be able to walk on Monday.

Hi Joy.
I'm very sorry to hear about your recurrent sickness. Please be easy on yourself. It's great to have a target, and you have buckets of determination. But I think what you can do is to expand the length of the target. For example, to be completed by Christmas.
The last thing you want is to worry about not reaching it. You have more than enough to deal with. I really hope the anti sickickness tablets work.
Take care of yourself x

The thing is, I do need the motivation to make myself get out and walk. It's really spurring me on to do it. I need to find more flat walks, though, as it's so hilly round here. Yesterday's walk was only 1.2 miles but I found it very, very hard. It included 178 feet of elevation gain and three stiles (would have been four but lucky timing meant I got to one just as the farmer opened the gate.)

I feel a bit guilty driving somewhere just to go for a walk when there are good walks from my front door, but they are too hilly for me. DH and I had a bit of a row about it last night. He thinks I should just walk up and down the main road (ugh! scary traffic and pollution) or back and forth along the lane below, which is nicer but gets boring, and it's a steep hill getting back home at the end of it, when I'm tired.
