Inflatable mattress, topped with two Fat Airics, fitted sheet over, fluffy duvet and proper pillows. Bliss, I tell you, bliss!

Oh, also added a dustpan and blush to my essentials list. Which is odd, since I can never be bothered to have a clean and tidy home...

Dear Lord. You are a delicate thing aren't you?

MisSalLaneous · 08/07/2010 16:21

Oh yes indeedy. And dh wanted to throw me out of a plain earlier today Well, with a parachute. Apparently.

Oh for heaven's sake, I've lost the ability to type. Plane. I did relax, which must be a good thing. Will hold off on sending out e-mails next week though...

Oh Slubber, in my defence, I can almost blame this on dh - he's been dragging the air mattress and foot pump with for the last 3 camps - "forgetting" to remove it from the boot. After the first night when ds stole dh's pillow, I agreed to try out the combination just to entertain dh really, and it's great! Better than either option on it's own.

lol

I cannot believe you think a dustpan and brush is essential kit though

MisSalLaneous · 08/07/2010 17:06

I know, I know! The odd thing is that I'm not even sure that I own one at home... Uhm, I do have a vacuum cleaner, obviously although I don't use it often enough.

Maybe it's the bell tent thing, it didn't bother me in the Orchy, but I kept wanting to get the floor clean again.

Hey, omdb, I did think of you at some stage (i.e. when I realised how great said new combination was!), and thought you must be Well Tough to have camped without anything at all for years!

lunavix · 08/07/2010 17:27

I bought a pretty modern flowery dustpan and brush for my tent from poundstretcher - essential kit IME!

And if I'm honest, your combination isnt how I'd have done it - I'd have put the airics on the bottom!

MisSalLaneous · 08/07/2010 17:45

Yay, another dustpanner.

Oh no, lunavix, you have to do it this way round! You get the slight movement of a thicker mattress, but the softness and insulation of the Fat Airics. I hate air mattresses normally, they're either too hard or you sink in.

We are quite minimal campers but we recently bought a nice little dustpan and brush for the tent. We tend to camp by sandy beaches. But then I ran it over after just one trip so we don't have one any more, back to sandy minimalism....

MisSalLaneous · 08/07/2010 17:50

Lol fennel! Well, I guess it's the intention that counts!

A dust-pan and brush very useful and the bed combo sounds v. comfy to. But since you have shirked camping minimalism and gone all 'glamp', then what you really need is this. So lovely....

MisSalLaneous · 09/07/2010 09:38

I rather like that! Mind you, won't look quite as pretty with my old tea towels, as I usually go for the utilitarian approach, so have: blue stripes, blue checks, red checks...

OP posts:
Wiggletastic · 09/07/2010 12:24

That combo sounds nice to me .

I don't think I even possess ten tea towels, let alone 10 lovely vintage ones so no lovely blanket and matching bunting for me...

Very industrious Butterfly! Photos please....

Fennel · 09/07/2010 17:58

Our old tea-towels are REALLY old. any blanket made from them would look like 10 old dishrags swirled around in mud and then torn up a bit by a passing puppy.

I guess we're not glampers. Though we are going to a French campsite called Huttopia which includes Tipis and Yurts and is a chain mentioned in Cool Camping. that's as close as we get to Glamping. We aren't staying in a tipi or yurt. Obviously. being cheapo minimalist DIY types.

Wiggletastic · 09/07/2010 18:01

I like the fabric, happy campers flowers red is my fave. If you want to make money from your sewing then I suggest this site. My friend sells her crafts on it and does quite well. Or you could just market to all the MN bell tent owners!

Huttopia does look nice doesn't it? (in a freshly washed Boden ad sort of way, and we're not really a Boden family). We are going to a site on an island, in pine forests near a big sandy beach. I might have to add in some glamping essentials to fit in.
