Does anyone know of any sites in North Norfolk or close by that allow real fires?
It would be for a tent and a VW Camper. Thanks

Breck farm here is fab. You can pitch where you like, fires allowed, we went last year in our vw and there were quite a few others there aswell as tents, brilliant for kids to explore the woods and close drive to the beach. Fab fab fab! Must say it's very basic camping but that's what i like.

flame17 · 05/03/2010 09:46

Thank you, that looks like just the thing we were looking for.

We go there several times a year and it's great - very laid back and spacious. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Lucycat · 09/03/2010 14:38

Don't you just end up smelling of smoke all the time if you are constantly having open fires? I really don't get the open fire thing!

Reminds me of the Guides I'm afraid.

flame17 · 09/03/2010 19:02

Thanks, yes you do end of smelling of smoke, especially after a week but if you have no hook up (Ty Parke)then I would rather be warm and smelly, than cold and fragrant .
It's just nice to sit round in an evening and keeps the men happy!

another vote for breck farm here

we had a fab week there last year

maxybrown · 13/03/2010 21:50

OOh we want to go to Breck farm at easter, glad I saw this. We mainly loved that the fees are straight forward none of this, a ound extra if you want to shut your eyes when you sleep, £3 if you want to bring your own pillow, £2 for having your own clothes etc etc etc

james79 · 13/03/2010 23:24

Breck farm rocks maxy, having a fire adds atmosphere Lucycat-we couldn't go camping without our fire basket, the kids love toasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate and the fry up in the morning is brilliant on the fire, have fun all at Breck farm!!

maxybrown · 13/03/2010 23:27

ooh thanks for that. We have never been to Norfolk, really looking forward to it.

Anyone going over Easter then?

flame17 · 14/03/2010 15:37

We are going May, going to Bath at Easter

Nope james79 - still not convinced over the whole fire thing - I do like my barbecue and the whole marshmallow thing is done on that - I like my atmosphere created by rose wime and cicadas

maxybrown · 14/03/2010 18:19

I would have thought after a week or two camping you will be smelly anyway regardless of open fires or is that just us?

Going to get it booked, can't wait!

Can anyone recommend anything to do/go and see whilst there?

Lucycat · 14/03/2010 18:39

oooh no! I do like a nice shower - there is no need to relax on personal hygiene too much when camping

and anyway the French are much too stylish even at 7am.

maxybrown · 14/03/2010 18:47

oh gosh, shan't go there then!! I don't really associate showering in a block with nice tbh, get in get out!! Anyway, we have a caravan

Lucycat · 14/03/2010 18:50

A CARAVAN - shock!!!!

See you can just shut the windows to escape the nasty smelly fire. (and keep your smells in by the sounds of it

Lucycat · 14/03/2010 18:53

Look at these for luverly toilets You can listen to Radio 2 all night - we spent one very wet Whit there where the shower blocks were actually tempting to sleep in as they were warm and smelled gorgeous!

and our pitch was under water

maxybrown · 14/03/2010 18:55

I can listen to radio 2 in my caravan with the heater on

Lucycat · 14/03/2010 19:15

bet my tent is bigger than your caravan though

and it doesn't smell of campfires

Lucycat · 14/03/2010 19:17

Hey I've just checked out your 'caravan' it has an engine!!

Nice.

maxybrown · 14/03/2010 19:32

Neither does ours, the floor wouldn't stand up to a campfire in it

Anyway, that is an old pic from last year and don't want to talk about it as makes me very very sad. Also I would NEVER refer to her as a caravan! Crikey!!

No, we now have a CARAVAN a fifth of the price of our beloved helga

james79 · 14/03/2010 20:50

Maxy go to Wells next the sea, the beach is fab, plenty of fish and chip shops/restuarants and there was a really quaint market on when we went. Of course us mums had to go into Holt for coffee and cake and a spot of shopping, whilst the dad's got the fire going for supper... at Helga, our beloved 'Rusty Lee' needs a new starter motor we suspect..oh the joys! Prob won't be going at Easter as DH has just started out as a retained firefighter and as we already have 3 holidays booked this year so far doesn't want to leave the village stranded! But we'll be there in August yippee!
LOL lucycat at rose wine(or several bottles of bubbly -goes great with sausages!)

4andnotout · 14/03/2010 20:55

I live in Norfolk so if you need any info give me a shout

maxybrown · 14/03/2010 21:19

Ooh thanks Guys. Can't wait. We going to book for a week then maybe stay on another couple of days if we want to and they have room for us to do so.

Helga had new starter last year, coming home from Devon was fun.......was ok if you didn't stop, then we had to wait half an hour or give it a good smacking to get going oh dear.......I do miss her terribly. Still, DH has a bit more time on his hands and a bit more money in his pocket

4andnotout - are there any good historical sites/interesting places to visit DH would like to know please?
