I'm going to do it. I'm going to be a minimalist(ish) camper this weekend. I did it before dc and I can do it again. I CAN do it again. I do not need all the stuff, do I?

We have found a great site near our favorite beach on the Lleyn and all I want to do is spend 2 days on the beach and just a light casual night of camping in between.

Here is my mental list

2 tiny small pop up tents

Self inflating mats
Sleeping bags
Pillows (I know I can do a rolled up jumper but I just don't think I'm ready to take that step yet)
Single burner stove + 1 saucepan
4 spoons
2 mugs
Tea bags & instant hot choc
Instant porridge
2 water bottles
Toothpaste and toothbrushes & a flannel
4 pairs of pants
2 headtorches

I may take the tarp if the weather is looking a bit rubbish.

Is this looking ok? I am not going to take any of the boxes with any of my gubbins in.
THIS IS VERY HARD FOR ME

Please note omdb I have not listed a washing up bowl

Not sure if I would Slubber. I realised that whatever I pack I have to unpack and assemble, pack up and unpack when I went home! 5 yr old ds is more of a hindrance than a help at the moment, although I assume that will change.

ahh, you are a minimalist at heart then.

I'm looking forward to the day when the dds are a help rather than a hinderance as well.

How old are your DDs, Slubber? How did the pop-ups work out with them?

Slubberdegullion · 18/08/2009 08:42

4 and 5 Lemon. They really liked them too (well they like anything new really). Dh and I had to split up and have a child each but I'm hopeful that give it a few years when they are no longer drippy and frightened of the dark then dh can be together again.

I'm trying to get a photo up on my profile but am meeting technical difficulties atm.

That sounds absolutely brilliant!
I'm at mum;s on way back from camperama in Brighton. Still glowing from scorchio days on beach - and another today, sniff, but got stuff to do.
I echo your feelings on amazing skies, slubber. We lay out by the dying bbq embers most nights watching the wonderfulness and chatting.
Contemplating minimalist pop up experience in the lakes this weekend, but watching the forecast carefully.

Am questioning sanity of leaving 80 degrees and fab beach for days of rainy north, but sadly suppose that reality has to intrude into life at some point

Yes indeedy . I have a whole plethora of sensible things to do here (like sewing on name tapes and painting the fence) and I cannot be asred. I'm about to go and have a hunt on ukcs for a site in snowdonia, somewhere without caravans and a bit Ray Mears.

Glad you had a good time down South.
