Morning all

I thought we could have a camping roll call

What tent do you currently have?
Where have you been this year?
Where are you planning on going?
What do you lust after camping wise?

I am nosey. I also think we should do a MN camp too

Tent - Coleman Galileo L
Been - to the scottish borders
Will go to - campsites around Edinburgh, but would love to go further afield to ullapool and applecross etc - just don't have time for a big trip this year
Camping lust - I want small dangly battery-powered lanterns that last - am on a mission! I also lurve the flowery and bright stuff so am always looking out for things like funky plastic cups and camping chairs. Got great plate set at waitrose just last week.

We've got a new Norfolk Lake - love it, love it, love it

We've been to Rutland Caravan and Camping - fantastic toilets and lovely play area. And we've been to Birchwood Farm derbyshire, lots of space, lovely views, too few showers and toilets.

We're going to sacrewell farm soon and we're hoping to find a lovely site close to a beach for the summer - any recommendations?

I'm now lusting after a camping wardrobe, never been on my list before, but I just want to keep the new tent tidy !!

oooh pavlov...

you are seriously the ONLY person I've ever "met" who has not liked airics though

muffle · 17/06/2009 18:59

Pavlov - we put 2 fat airics together, with duvet on top, us on top of that and more duvet and blankets over us. Double airic delight!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 17/06/2009 20:08

but muffle don't you feel a bit too 'close to nature' so to speak? Now I like low beds, have a very low bed at home for that very reason, but I prefer not to sleep on the floor. I like to rough it but not that much! In fact I sometimes go to stay in a yurt just so I can sleep in a proper bed

funnypeculiar · 17/06/2009 20:17

oh, oh, me too

What tent do you currently have?
Vango Ukon 800
Where have you been this year?

Where are you planning on going?

We're wildly under-shopped, so still at the 'need essentials' stage rather than the random lusting stage. Something to cook on would be nice , as would a larger car...

muffle · 17/06/2009 20:36

Well we used to use a double airbed, and I found that uncomfortable, cold, and too bouncy when DP turned over. I was higher up but there's something more snuggly about the fat airics. Plus of course the whole pod is filled to bursting with feather duvets and blankets with the airics underneath everything, so it doesn't feel like roughing it. I'm so not a foam mat/"close to nature" type.

btw have just checked out the soulpad website. So my new camping lust object is a ginormous soulpad. I do love our tent but I suppose it will eventually meet with an unfortunate accident wear out

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 17/06/2009 20:59

muffle they are just the best! We spent a lot of money on our air mattress, and DH is on the heavy side so I was very dubious about using one. The one we got is great. It does not bounce at all even when DH gets up to go to the loo a million times after drinking too much beer round the camp fire . I might consider getting another airic for when we wild camp though, as they take up less space...

Fillyjonk · 18/06/2009 16:58

but don't you find air mattresses to be cold and sinking and reeking of pvc?

we had 2 x coleman's posh airbeds. would not go back.

we put 2x fat airics in a duvet cover, etc voila.

Fillyjonk · 18/06/2009 16:59

et voila

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 18/06/2009 17:18

Muffle, am with you. In our soulpad we have double FA's topped with a blanket, proper fitted sheet and then lovely duvet with matching quilt over the top and sheepskins either side for warm toes in the morning. Bonk and bouce factor is great!

Think F A's are quite the snuggliest solution ever, but then have only bought cheapo airbeds before, so what can you expect?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 18/06/2009 20:14

No we don't have a pvc airmattress, or at least it is covered with flock of some kind so not cold and does not smell in the slightest! It is as solid as our own mattress (which does not sink I will have you know ) We pump it up using our car. None of this old blow using good ol lung power stuff. We have a fleece over it too, and a hot water bottle (or rather i have the hot water bottle), then duvet and hippy throws. It is very nice and comfy indeedy. But I might be tempted to try out my airic when I go solo camping, see if it has improved any with age .

We did buy a ready bed, now that was a waste of time and it was returned pronto for a refund!

But, I am clearly missing the sheepskin for our tootsies each side of us orange. I would like to add that to my 'what do you lust after camping wise' without a doubt.
