is it still worth going tomorrow? we spent the day at camping shops today price checking and didnt know this was on!

MumHadEnough · 11/06/2009 22:38

Oh no Noonki, imagine missing those bargains!

I suppose it depends on how busy your local Aldi is. Prob worth going for a look though.

Ponders · 11/06/2009 23:06

Well FWIW my local Aldi still had everything left today, as far as I could see

spokette · 11/06/2009 23:14

Positive reviews here and here on Aldi's coolbox.

bea · 12/06/2009 12:53

... a ufo light and lantern with remote control and a picnic rug!

hettie · 12/06/2009 13:53

mzmum- re cool box, those types only go so many degrees below ambient temperature. So if in S France not very much at all. You can buy ice in some supermarkets in France (but not everywhere) and some campsites will re freeze your ice packs. To get a cold eski (sorry- cooler box, its the australian in me) you need one that runs off electric hook up or gas and cools to a certina temp never mind the ambient temp..... these are bloody expesive mind you.

No one got the tent tidy then? Perhaps I don't need one. Am tempted by the cupboard too not sure dh would agree though. I bet he would like the folding shovel though .

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 12/06/2009 17:22

I didn't see the tent tidy, is it on the website? Get the cupboard it's great.

motherducky · 12/06/2009 17:41

been back again with dh to advise and bought:

the tall cupboard, a rucksack for him, clogs, windbreak, headtorch. dds wanted to get the toilet, dh wanted to get the stove - It made me feel very sensible. Only 4 folding shovels left - still don't get it though self inflating mats and tall cupboards nearly sold out as well, but loads of stock for everything else.

And the tent has been delivered today too - daren't look at my bank balance Very expensive but exciting day, spread thefootprint out on the lawn and lay down on it - it is HUGE!

tinateaspoon · 12/06/2009 19:41

this is the tent tidy There were loads left in our Aldi but no price, now I know they are £6.99 I think I will get one. From the website they were a special at the end of May so may not be around in other stores. Really like the cupboard .. may pop in tomorrow, even DH said we could look

MumHadEnough · 12/06/2009 19:47

I didn't see the point of the tent tidy to be honest.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 12/06/2009 20:11

I wouldn't buy the tidy, get a trug or two instead, I use them (camping) for toy storage, laundry basket, washing up, filling with cold water to keep stuff cool, a fire bucket, emergency loo and occasionally for bathing the kids, and they stack and squash up in the car.

Ooh now I like the look of trugs - colourful and cheap. OK will not get a tent tidy, was going to use it for all of the above - except anything involving liquid of course . Thanks Wildthing!

Mumhadenough - i was going to say the point was to keep the tent tidy but I have now seen the light, I was getting carried away with all things camping/Aldi related.

Ponders · 12/06/2009 20:21

You could put a small child out of the way in that tent tidy

tinateaspoon · 12/06/2009 20:23

Probably won't use a trug as a loo though, too much chance of falling in. We have a nice solid bucket for that .

tinateaspoon · 12/06/2009 20:24

Ponders - I just had the same, rather nasty thought! My dd2 would probably fit quite nicely

MumHadEnough · 12/06/2009 21:04

Yeah I'd get stuck in that with my arse in the trug and my legs up in the air forever .

We just use a bucket, lined with a bin bag and a few inches of paper/wood based cat litter in the bottom. Get up in the morning and take the bag out and no pee all over the place. Its Fab!

Twice! grrrrr

mzmum · 12/06/2009 21:47

Thanks for advice on the coolbox everyone. I'm still undecided...... They'll probably have sold out by the time I decide.
hettie, my australian hubbie is very pro the eski with ice!!

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 13/06/2009 09:02

Heehee you wouldn't want to sit on a trug, they are very squashy and bendy, it would only be used for a loo in a dire emergency, and only then by those with the proper ahem equipment, ds in the middle of the night, dp when he's had one too many, dd is still too little and no way would I ever wee in a tent. I'm off to the loo at all hours and in all weathers.

Ended up paying another visit to Aldi today there was still loads of everything left in our local one.

So I came away with three self-inflating mats and an EHU . Ah well, won't ever need to buy anything unless lol

troutpout · 14/06/2009 18:59

Mzmum...I bought the coolbox from Aldi a few years back. It's been very good ...still going strong. It's not huge but big enough for us 4

JustKeepSwimming · 14/06/2009 19:46

I went back too

2 x picnic blankets
the remote control lantern (prob a gimmick but i HAD to have it!)

they'd run out of windbreaks which i wanted to get
lots of everything else though.

TheMadHouse · 14/06/2009 19:47

I agree with the cool box - it is great for the price, as are the mats and everything else really. We are a bit of an Aldi camping family.

I went and got the windbreak, large cuboard and clothes airer

We are off next weekend for a week and we even camped out last night at the inlaws (farmers) in a field full of cows
