Vendee - Les Biches or La Yole??

Hi, just wondering if anyone has been to either Camping Les Biches (St Hilaire) or Camping La Yole (St Jean-Plage), and if so what you thought of them?

We are planning to go with Canvas in mid-June for 2 weeks staying in a tent. We have 2 DS (aged 4 and 2) and DC3 is due in mid-March so should be around 3 months by then. We have been away with Canvas twice before, but never to the Vendee. I'm getting in a right old tiz trying to decide between these two sites and driving DH up the wall, so any first hand experiences would be great!

Thanks

The Vendee is great - lots to do and easy to get around. I haven't been to La Yole, but did go to Clarys-Plage which was in the same area as La Yole (Acapulco, La Yole and Clarys-Plage) are all the a row.

From memory La Yole was the furthest from the beach, supermarket etc (although that was only a 5 min walk).

We didn't go to the beach that much in the day - tended to go out and about in the morning - markets etc and then back to the pool in the afternoon and then back to the beach before dinner.

This year we want to go to Camping la Garangeoire which is in St Julien which looks fantastic (just to throw another spanner in the works)

Hi, We have been to the Vendee many, many times and we love it. Our first visit was infect to La Yole with Eurocamp. We found it a lovely site, very clean and tidy. Lots to do but not too busy IYSWIM. Everyone was very friendly and we had a fantastic holiday.

We also like, St Johns de Monts, Les Sable (fantastic Zoo) and la Rochelle.

You will have a reat time and will go back again and again, we have, WE LOVE IT!!!!

Go to Camping Acapulco in St jean (with canvas) it's fab!!!! rec to some other mumsneters and they have since rec it!! It's ideal location, enough to do without it being Butlins Sur Mer and plenty of nationalities so it's not Little Briatain abroad. restauarant, pool etc fantastic and can walk to a beach. Sup[ermarket/village centre 2 mins walk away. Lovely site and I' stayed in/visited others in St jean and would go back to Acapulco.

You must gp to le grand parc - www.lepuydefou.com

Have never camped there but just wanted to say that the Vendee is fantastic! The zoo at Les Sables d'Olonne is lovely, as is the http://www.lacourtdaron.com/ Parc Floral de la Court d'Aron and the chateau de la Guignardiere. Puy de Fou is like nothing I have ever experienced (in a good way)!

Tries again - Parc Floral de la Court d'Aron

We went to Les Biches in 2007, and we liked it a lot. The site has plenty of trees between the vans, so you don't feel like you are too crowded. The site was pretty quiet at night - I had worried about noise before going, but had no problems.

The site is friendly and small, has a bar and a pizzeria which seem pretty good, and has a shop and a takeaway - the shop gets fresh bread each day, which was yummy. The pool is good, though we didn't use the toddler pool, so I can't really tell you much about that, other than that people seemed to be enjoying it.

There are plenty of loungers and chairs round the pool, which I liked. However, we were there in August, and the weather was totally unreliable - in fact we had quite a lot of rain - I think it's like holidaying in Cornwall - you take a gamble and it might be really hot and sunny or it might not.

We liked this site, and would have gone back again, if we hadn't wanted to go further south to see if we could find better weather - which we did, at another keycamp site on the cote d'azur.

I hope you have a great holiday, whichever you decide to go to.

we went to La Garangeoire last summer and it was lovely - very plush indeed (in fact probably a bit plusher than we needed) but it is a 15min drive from the beach.
Didn't bother us as dd (then 10m) wouldn't have got more from it than she did from the onsite pools/playgrounds but may bother you. Also no supermarket within walking distance so restricted to site shop (small) if you don;t want to drive.

This year we're going for something less posh but nearer the beach

We have been to Les Biches twice - in our own tent. Last year we had a fantastic pitch (well, 2 - with friends!) - loads of space and not near others!

We went in late July/early Aug and had fab weather apart from one day when it rained torrentially all day. But no floods or leaks
