If you had booked and paid for a campsite for next week, but the forecast was bad would you go?

I guess the title says it all. We have booked and paid in full for a campsite that looks very nice for next week. However at the moment the forecast isn't great - an intoxicating combination of rain and clouds. Would you bother going or just forget it and stay at home?

as long as your tent is waterproof then a bit of rain wont hurt, you are not made of sugar afterall i went camping in july and the forecast was sunshine sunshine sunshine and lo and behold it pissed down all week thats the weather for you even if it told you there would be a heatwave it could be wrong i wouldnt even consider cancelling as you never know it might be beautiful weather where are you going btw? anywhere nice?

Yes I would still go, but have a get-out plan if it gets too bad and take lots of clothes and waterproofs.

last summer DS and I camped for a week and it rained every single day. We accepted it and embraced it and after that it was bearable and even fun. There's nothing more liberating than being soaking wet.

Well, if I added that dh is recovering from an operation and although physically ok, is a bit down. I can't decide if a week away will cheer him up or the rain will make him worse.

I would go unless it was blowing a gale as we were setting off.

Well I would wait until day prior before making definitive decision (longer term forecasts less reliable than next 24-48 hour forecasts), but tbh if it was going to be wet all week then I would rather sell my own kidney than go camping

Ooh, we'll be in Devon too, scanner (though south).

I'd go, but have an escape plan if the wet is getting to you (e.g. go to a B&B for one night and if it doesn't improve just go home). But I think it's worth giving it a go. If the weather is wet, the aquarium in Plymouth is very good (though it might be a bit far from there). Or just check out the nearest local tea-shoppes and gorge on cream teas!

i am in devon, its bloody pissing down. Altho i think the weather is meant to get better next week.

Escape plan is a good idea, also I think I should have a look at undercover days out. Our tent is huge and new so space isn't a problem, this will be our first camping trip with ehu too, which should make a difference.

bring lots of cosy jumpers, i swear it's wet. I am not trying to be horrible, but it's best to bring comforting things. I went camping down to Cornwall when it was raining and I have a bad back, and it felt quite damp. I bought a hot water bottle!!

we've booked and paid, but it's caravan rather than tent so we are going regardless

Yep we have a groundsheet and sewn in groundsheet ANd a carpet - mega luxury camping wise. Am keeping an eye on the weather forecast.

I have jsut come back form 10 days camping and it rained most of the time night and day.

Would I do it agin

i guess so - the kids loved it. - they are 9 and above so could go off on their own
But be prepared with things to do - books to read. wellies/umbrellas/wetsutis etc

You must go.

If you haven't been to Croyde you will love it. Even some peeps of sunshine will make it all worthwhile. Croyde is absolutely lovley.

You can always come home early if it turns out really awful. However, this is North Devon so the weather more or less does its own thing (good AND bad!)
