Am I deranged for considering taking fairly new baby to festival?

He sleeps pretty well atm which is why I am feeling tempted
before he was born I was thinking no way
however festival is not for 6 weeks - anything could happen during that time couldn't it? I mean he could start waking up all the time etc etc couldn't he?

I am not usually marvellous at putting up with things being rather awkward or whatever, so please base answers round fact I am a wuss

I wish I had a crystal ball

Not crazy. Get (or borrow) some ear defenders (search for Peltor on amazon) and sling him

Can you wait until near the time to decide for sure or do you have to book things now?

Lots of people said to me that DD would probably not always sleep so well (she was sleeping through the night at around 13 weeks). She is still a sleepyhead.

oh it wouldn't be really noisy music wise - it's a very mellow one
just, the camping thing, and him waking during the night, is what bothers me
sitting rocking a crying baby in a cold tent not my idea of holiday

I took dd aged 10 weeks. Bought tickets whilst pg. It was absolutely fine. I wore her/breastfed/danced about. She was awake all day and totally absorbed by it all and slept 13hrs straight each night. It's one of my most cherished memories of the early months.

Just Know Your Limits. If you feel tired or he's unsettled then retreat to tent/campervan/yurt/tipi/whatever.

I say go for it.

Are you a tent person? If so, I'd go. loads of babies at big chill this w/e and bar a few 4am wails they were fine. I think the key is to expect hell and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.

yes I think the daytimes will be fine
I mean I don't care about hanging around with him doing whatever during the day
nervy of disturbed nights plus not being able to nap during day type thing

Mine was 6 months, camping just up the row of tents from SOH and like her we just went with the flow, used a sling loads and he slept like an angel.

oh the tent side of it hmm. I don't know about that sorry! have never camped before (will be losing my camping virginity late august)

I took my 4 month old [still older than yours] to a festival last summer. And ds at a few weeks older to the Big Chill a few years ago.

But we are VERY easy-ozy with stuff. And how much worse can it be than being at home and with a baby awake?

the radical midwives are usually out in force at most nice festivals

they have a great yurt

you can always take solace there

I always camped with mine when they were fairly little, it's easier than having a toddler, you can just snuggle up and wear a sling. I think you should go. It'll be fun.

and I think I am fairly deranged for taking a toddler hundreds of miles away to Solfest when there was a perfectly good Latitude down the road. Don't know what I was thinking of.
