Just wondering if anyone has bought anything new for the new camping season?

Not that I'm on the look out for new gadgets to buy...Grin

This year we have added the following to our camping stash:

  • new water carrier (Outwell)
  • side awning for our tent
  • event shelter/gazebo so our ASD son has a safe play-space

We already have a kitchen unit (two!) and the inflatable shelving wardrobe mentioned previously. I think we might have reached peak self-indulgence.

Reading with interest. I want new lights as we have read light bulb size and shape solar lights and they're in a huge box! Dreadfully cumbersome
To the air tent question we have a Kampa Hayling 6. It's great 8 years on but we have to take 2 cars every trip and it weighs a tonne

We end up taking 2 cars as well.

I'm eyeing up the decathlon kitchen unit and pressure shower.

I just got back from a weekend in the lakes. It was the first time I got to try out my Christmas presents.

a stretchy washing line with fixed pegs attached.
some solar fairy lights
a lantern with usb and solar (and works in reverse as a power bank to charge phones)
a dry robe (primarni version)

they are all my new favourite thing!

Do you have a link for the lantern that doubles as a power bank?

OneHundredOtters · 23/05/2023 15:20

I bought this tiny pump which I'm excited about.

I also have a power bank lantern- would definitely recommend.

I have camping envy. We go on the motorbike so everything has to fit in a sailing bag, I do need a blow up pillow though, any recommendations? Small and light is key

I have a small Alpkit blow up pillow that I quite like.

Or Rumpl make stuffable pillows that you just put a fleece / similar inside.

@EggInANest, I bought one of the Decathlon flat pack night stands in store yesterday - it's brilliant! Thanks for the recommendation.

Gwdihooooo · 26/05/2023 18:51

I’ve just bought one of those charging lamps. Thanks!! How out arrives by tomorrow for our camping trip on Monday!

Most recent purchase before this is an alpkit brew kit for quick and easy cups of tea!

OneHundredOtters · 27/05/2023 01:13

One best bits of kit (although not new) is this https://www.outdooraction.co.uk/vango-planet-50-sleeping-bag-p11393/s69353?

It's super small and lightweight and the stuff sack is fleece lined so you can turn it inside out, stuff some clothes in and do away with the need for a separate pillow.

I have got a new, smaller, washing up bowl and a table because I am incapable of getting the legs into our old one.

However last year I got a new (second hand) tent, a Vango Beta 350 XL and since it has no porch and it’s designed so the rain comes in when you open the zip, I got a Vango tunnel tarp for it. But since all my camping was in solidly dry weather I didn’t use the tarp at all.

Then I went at Easter but for less time so I took a smaller tent, and my tarp, and the tarp was brilliant, so I am hoping I will get to use it with the Vango this year!

I've just discovered that we need a new washing up bowl after ours has suffered an "accident" involving DH and his bloody car.

Small pleasures.
Mine cost about £1.50.

EggInANest · 27/05/2023 09:17

I love my collapsible washing up bowl with handles. So much easier to carry to the sink.

Dunelm were selling smallish ones, camping suppliers sell bigger ones.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 27/05/2023 09:22

I camped as a child. Had tents with porch type things etc. It wasn’t too bad and I know they’re expensive now but when DM got a Fiat camper van with kitchenette at the back with sink, seats inside which turned into a double bed, table in same area and pop up roof had an area for 3 beds, you could also fit the tent onto the side of the van. Life was so much better after that!

Magicmagician · 27/05/2023 09:25

We’ve been given a tent carpet and I am very excited 😆

Thanks for that! Will drop into Dunelm on my way home from work on Tuesday Wink
