Don't laugh - perfect camping car??

Our amazing Renault Scenic has died - and pretty much my main requirement is 3 proper seats in the back and enough room to pack up for camping!

The Scenic is awesome - there's so much hidden storage plus as enormous boot. AND you can take out the middle seat completely to add major additional space for The Big Camp.

Any recommendations??

My boot in my Peugeot 5008 is pretty huge

Skoda Superb, stonkingly huge boot. Can fit three adults in the back but not three high-backed child seats.

We have had the following which have all worked well for 2 kids, 2 adults (and more recently a dog) with camping gear: Ford Grand C-Max, Lexus RX-hybrd, Prius+. We do now have soft roof box as well - mostly because the dog has taken up quite a bit of space! (She doesnt get put in the box!!).

My CR-V is great (although it is just me and DD). It really is roomy and doesn't have the 'hump' in the middle so I can fit loads across the with of the car.

Vauxhall zafira is fab and the extra seats are a great bonus for flexibility we've found over the years.

Another vote for the skoda superb estate. It's a game changer. So comfy and nicely kitted out too, loads of charging ports!

Can't remove seats from zafira but the rear 'extra' two fold into the floor and the rear seats fold flat independently so you can lay one, two or all three.

Was about to suggest the Zafira, but yes also to the Ford galaxy had one as a hire vehicle on a trip and it was great!

VW touran. Three proper seats and a big boot. Has two extra fold-flat seats in the boot if you need more passenger space.
Great for bringing Nan on a day trip

Caddy Maxi Life. You'll never look back. It has three rows of seats , if you take the back set out there's enough space to haul a giant freezer to the tip. Or indeed go camping with a family of five. It's our main car as it is also quite narrow and therefore super easy to park in small spaces (although it is very long). We paid 10k in 2014 for a 38k mile one and got a new one in 2018 for 20k (1 yr old).

Citroen Berlingo XTR for us. Storage space under floor in back seats. All seats in back can be either removed (three seperate seats). Extra 12v socket near rear window to run plug in cool box when travelling. It's based on a van so big boot, highish drivers position so good visibility. Downside - it's not stylish!

Had a VW Caddy Maxi Life - agree with Tootletum - huge amounts of space with 3rd row seats out (they are heavy to take out) and loads of leg room in 3rd row when in.

Now have a Skoda Super Estate - lovely car with loads of boot space - still could get more in the Caddy though.

My Peugeot 5008 is immense!
3 proper seats in the middle row, they can all be collapsed if needed, and slid forward or backwards depending on the leg length of the occupants.. The side 2 have isofix.
2 pop up seats in the boot which disappear completely when not in use.
The boot is cavernous and very square which makes it useable space. We had a Skoda superb as a huge car and while it was very long, the boot door slopes so much it wasn’t anywhere near as practical.

Ford galaxy is brilliant!

We have a Nissan Qashqai. Aside from the crap name, it's perfect!

We used to have a huge Volvo with a roof box. Galaxy was also good.
We then upgraded to the perfect camping car- a Motorhome!

Anything big. Estate car, people carrier, or 4x4.

A 1999 Nissan Primera.
Ideal for camping.

How I loved my old zafira you Could get everything in that boot If only they didn’t have a tendency to suddenly burst into flames

Skoda Superb. The boot is cavernous, and there is no much room in the back seat footwell that you can get loads under childrens feet.
And still a car you can do serious miles in

I love my vw sharan. It's immense for camping. Huge huge boot and then I put a roof box on too!

I do have a huge tent though, and I take windbreaks, camping kitchen, chairs, table, gazebo, airbeds, fairy lights etc!! If I'm feeling brave then we take bikes too!
