Don't laugh - perfect camping car??

Our amazing Renault Scenic has died - and pretty much my main requirement is 3 proper seats in the back and enough room to pack up for camping!

The Scenic is awesome - there's so much hidden storage plus as enormous boot. AND you can take out the middle seat completely to add major additional space for The Big Camp.

Any recommendations??

I've found that depends how many kids you have and how old they are to a degree- do you need a pushchair, travel cot etc

Best camping car we've had was a Volvo XC90. The boot was enormous and tall, and fitted our big tent, sleeping bags and mats for 4, cooker, toaster, kettle etc and still plenty of space for the dog in the boot. It was a monster of a car though and cost a fortune to run.

Our biggest car now is a Volvo V60 and it's plenty big enough for all the camping kit but not the dog in the boot as well. We're thinking of picking up a small camping trailer, and then we can use it for tent etc storage when we're home.

Skoda Yeti...I actually go wild camping in the car itself...black out blinds and a custom conversion for storage and a bed.

We used to have a Citroen C4. Picasso? Hideous in many ways but excellent fuel consumption, huge boot and 3 good sized seats in the back.
Design has probably changed but we changed our Zafira for the Citroen as the back seat was inadequate and the flip down seats only ok for small kids (and always worried me hugely if the car was rear ended.
Yeti (which I have now) is tiny in comparison.

Great thread - not sure I class sleeping in a car as wild camping but each to their own!

We have a 10 year old BMW 3 series estate which is the 'dog car' (two Labradors) it was also the camping car whilst I drove a mini.

Sold the mini and bought an Audi A5, the boot is twice as big as the 3 series estate. It fits said dogs and 6 man tent. Everything else goes in a roof box or on the back seat.

Another vote for ford galaxy

We have a Citroen Berlingo - not a 'looker' but so much space. Plus overhead storage, much like on a plane which is fun for kids useful.

Newer Renault Kangoo - the back seats fold so flat you can use it to sleep in if tents are not allowed - overhead and underfloor storage as well.

We have a Skoda Suberb too, the boot is gigantic.

Another vote for Skoda Superb. I did lots of research before buying as we wanted the best car for camping too.
I love it - boots ginormous, car is very comfortable inside with lots of space, plus it’s lovely to drive.

I love it 😁

We had 3 Zafiras over the years and they were fab for camping. We only sold our last one when we upgraded to a caravan. They're also great for ferrying kids around.
