So....I want a nice cafe which serves actual coffee made using beans.

FRESH poncey food a bonus also.

(this is where forestry commission sites fall down)

Stuff like compost toilets and general countryside malarky etc is fine, actually its good. The fewer tin tents the better (oooh)

So, does such a campsite exist, preferably in south wales or nearby?

And if not...well...

Sorry.

I am thoroughly ashamed.

Still, it's better than instant!

SueW · 10/04/2007 22:25

What you really need is to go camping on the Masai Mara

"A typical day starts early as coffee and fresh biscuits are bought to your tent."

FillyjonkIsMilitantAboutFruit · 10/04/2007 22:37

oh yes I DO, thats exaclty what i need to do.

we have a kelly's kettle .. its really cool .. no stove needed

Twiglett · 11/04/2007 08:21

find the cafe and work backwards

ie

there is the most fabulous cafe in the world ever .. the most delicious food .. big field out back .. has papers .. its called The Farm Cafe and is in Suffolk .. about 8 miles away is Dunwich Heath (beach National Trust) and there's a campsite there

Twiglett · 11/04/2007 08:22

farm cafe .. totally recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on granary toast

DimpledThighs · 11/04/2007 08:24

oh Filly I feel your pain!

We went camping last year and had a stove solely for making coffee - banished kids to play and I made whilst dh guarded the stove. I cannot think of any adivce but know exactly what you mean.

I know some campsite you can hire a pitch with an electric socket and you could get one of those just for using a kettle.

Twiglett · 11/04/2007 08:25

a kelly's kettle

in-geeee-nious

FillyjonkIsMilitantAboutFruit · 11/04/2007 08:38

interesting....

there is a fair bit of fire involved in the kelly's kettle though, no?

small amount of twigs at the bottom in the enclosed tin then you plop the kettle on top (so it covers it) ... there's a chimney up the centre and the water is round the outside ... you can put a small pan on the top and cook something

its really quick

of course its metal so heats up so you'd have to keep kids away from it

but it is really in-geeeeeee-ni-ous

I did see an enclosed barbecue device called a Cobb (I think) that didn't heat on the outside .. it said one could cook pizzas in it .. I'm tempted by that

Twiglett · 11/04/2007 08:42

cobb-barbecue .. I want one .. i think

Bucketsofdynomite · 11/04/2007 08:56

Twiglett, did you see they are looking for agents?! If you buy one it's an excuse for lots of camping holidays so you can cook flamboyantly (scuse the pun) and sell them to neighbouring campers, then claim the mileage back on your tax return!

Aefondkiss · 11/04/2007 23:47

Twiglett have you got the kelly kettle? dh was looking at them last night, just to have in the back of the car, for thirsty moments

I do like the look of the cobb
