Mine would be in Cornwall, no more than say 15 pitches.
Each pitch surrounded by a clear boundary, preferably made of herbs.
Warm shower block
Washing up sink
Table tennis table, possibly badminton and dart board as well (to keep teenagers partially amused).
Wifi
Free book exchange
Firepit
...Within walking distance of a gorgeous surfing beach.

Not much to ask then Grin

-clean and warm shower/toilet block.
-no dogs/pets.
-separate pitches, not just a mowed farmer's field.
-accessible with public transport

Ohanarama · 09/08/2015 23:07

-permanent summer sunshine.
-outdoor swimming pool.
-a toilet located next to all pitches so I don't have far to go for my night wee.
-Definitely a chippy van and ice cream van.
-nice, friendly, neighbouring families with same age kids as ours.
-rustic pub within short walking distance.

Clean toilet and good hot shower. Don't mind how basic the building.

Amazing challenging adventure playground

EHU

Ehu at no extra charge.
No extra charges for kids, gazebos, pup tents etc....
Fire pit with bbq grill at each pitch.
Some low key activity. Just been to a site where we were all invited to a petanque tourniment. Was great fun.
A good playground viewable from tent.
Really really good loos and enough there is never a queue.
Short walk to beach.
Shop on site

I'm sure there's more! Lol

Horses/ponies
Easy walks out of the campsite
Not too crowded
Remove cars to a car park so that it's safe to play
Beach within walking distance
Lots of trees/bushes etc

PartyFops · 22/08/2015 22:16

A massive field near a beach with lovely views. Long grass in the middle to give some privacy. A separate small building for each pitch with a loo, hot shower and sink. Straw bales to sit on.
Camp fires allowed.
Local bakery.
Big play park with plenty for 4 year old to amuse them selves for a little while.

Maybe a little cycle path too (flat).

BikeRunSki · 22/08/2015 22:19

No wifi
Other kids the same age as mine
Mud and trees for them to play in
Shop that sells fresh milk

No swimming pool or anything that I need to supervise.

lavendersun · 23/08/2015 09:30

Probably very similar to BikeRunSki's - no work communication at all (phone/emails) as I work from home and people forget I have a life too.

Other kids the same age - great when you have an only child.

Could live without fresh milk though as I actually prefer UHT Grin.

Not many pitches, random pitching and lots of room.

  • A fairly small site, with none of the kids club type facilities so it stays fairly quiet most of the time.
  • Clean, hot showers and washing facilities.
  • Nice secluded pitches.
  • A heated outdoor pool.
  • A short bike ride from a village with a shop, restaurant, bar.
  • A beach or wood nearby for walks.
  • Not ridiculously expensive for a pitch if you're hike/bike camping.
  • Friendly staff.
  • Some onsite groceries like fresh bread/cold beer.

One of the sites we stayed at last year in the Vendee came pretty close to my idea of perfection Camping La Foret.
