Mine would be in Cornwall, no more than say 15 pitches.
Each pitch surrounded by a clear boundary, preferably made of herbs.
Warm shower block
Washing up sink
Table tennis table, possibly badminton and dart board as well (to keep teenagers partially amused).
Wifi
Free book exchange
Firepit
...Within walking distance of a gorgeous surfing beach.

Not much to ask then Grin

Lots of hot showers in large cubicals with dry floors.
Lots of free activities, playground, obstacle course, swimming pool, mini golf

No WiFi so people have to talk and there's no chance of work emails getting through.

Asleeponasunbeam · 06/08/2015 21:11

Absolutely nothing. Well, a loo and a hot shower is good, but not necessary.

tomatodizzymum · 06/08/2015 21:13

Be near a waterfall and each pitch circled by trees. Warm showers somewhere close by.

Hepzibar · 06/08/2015 21:16

No kids Grin

Warm showers
WiFi
EHU
Walking distance to shops, pub and beach

Muchtoomuchtodo · 06/08/2015 21:18

Big pitches and areas for small groups of friends to camp together.

Fire pits.

Safe, well maintained park area for the kids.

Minimal lighting at night.

Clean, warm toilet block with plenty of hot water and good showers. DS2 fondly remembers the one site that we've been to with a bath.

A shop selling local fresh bread, bacon, cheese, milk etc and papers.

A short, flat walk to a sandy beach.

No road noise.

A hotel Grin

Stinkyfeet · 06/08/2015 21:33

EHU
Clean loos and showers
Covered washing up area
Wifi
Pub
Large, level pitches

HappyAsASandboy · 06/08/2015 21:54

Large pitches with scattered trees for shade/hanging a washing line from.

Reasonably priced grocery store.

Hot food take away place selling proper dinners :) Things like cottage pie, lasagne, beef stew etc in family sized portions. Wouldn't be too difficult to set up if shop stored the meals frozen and there was some system to order them by 2pm for pick up after 6pm or something .....

Clean warm toilets/showers

Outside wash up area

Warm swimming pool

Close to beach.

Laundry room with washers and driers.

Somewhere to buy ice and to freeze blocks

Communal BBQ so each pitch doesn't have to have its own tiny one every night. If there was a fairly good scattering of permenant 'country park' type BBQs, with a stocked box of charcoal/paper/lighters etc by it, someone would get it going and then others could come and use it too. Would probably result in friendly gatherings at dinner time too :)

Small or at least with a small feel / separate areas.
Coastal or vvv close.
Fires and dogs allowed.
Firepits provided and logs available onsite.
Trees or hedges for shelter.
Clean toilets.
Hot, clean showers.
No electric, or at least TVs not allowed (I do not understand why anyone would want to watch telly on a camping holiday. Fuck off home and watch it there).

Hellionandfriends · 07/08/2015 00:22

Easy.

Fire pits and BBQs
A wooded valley with views
Being unable to see other campers tents.
Not being able to hear other campers
No music
Compost loos
Hot powerful showers
Beautiful walks close buy
Good eating places off site
Beach or mountains close
Being able to choose my own tent pitch
Free washing machine and freezer
Nice relaxed campsite owners
Firewood provision
The wilder, more back to nature the better
No electric hook ups - tents only
No extra facilities, no swimming pool.

What would I hate?
I'd hate being given a specific camping pitch, being close to neighbours, a commercial site,

madwomanbackintheattic · 07/08/2015 00:22

No other people.

madwomanbackintheattic · 07/08/2015 00:22

And no bears.

Other than that, I'm pretty easy.

Hellionandfriends · 07/08/2015 08:19

Having the means to transport
My camping equipment to a camping spot I choose. Wheelbarrow or car.

Hellionandfriends · 07/08/2015 08:21

Low numbers of people even if it meant paying a £1 or so more per person

YakTriangle · 07/08/2015 08:23

Showers that are easy to operate, clean, and have the ability to reach a temperature that isn't freezing or scalding.
Beautiful scenery
Near to a beach
Quiet
Kitchen block with sinks etc
Clean loos.
Big enough so that you don't have to talk to anyone unless you choose to.

Hellionandfriends · 07/08/2015 08:25

Fire pit in each camping pitch so I can put the kids to bed, watch the tent while keeping myself warm.

A remote BBQ or fire pit away from the tent is no good

Hellionandfriends · 07/08/2015 08:32

No swimming pool and no games room and no flashy store and no vast site canteen and no evening entertainment. If you do have these things, I'll assume the campsite is quite rough in terms of clientele.

No music. I hate being made to listen to other people's stereo music day or night. I can just about put up with a quiet guitar strumming a long distance away from my tent

Hellionandfriends · 07/08/2015 08:33

Wifi yes, although not essential

Asleeponasunbeam · 07/08/2015 08:41

Good we all like different things from campsites! I spend my time scouring the Internet looking for the most basic sites possible - hard to find as they don't tend to advertise!

serin · 07/08/2015 22:49

Madwoman!! No bears Shock

At least I don't have to worry about that in Wales or Cornwall.

I love the dynamics between the different types of campers, last year we were pitched between Mrs Posh paws and her little angels who practised their writing, maths and ocarinas continually..........and the loudest most gregarious family in the world, who were drinking beer with breakfast!!

What made these very different people choose that particular campsite??

HarrietSchulenberg · 07/08/2015 22:51

serin you weren't at Shell Island, were you? Campers there are a wide-ranging bunch?

WidowWadman · 07/08/2015 22:51

No WiFi, no mobile signal, no electric hook ups. A news agent within walking distance.

Thumbcat · 08/08/2015 15:55

Sinks in little cubicles with good lighting
Fresh baked crossaints etc available in the mornings
Freezers for freezing ice packs
A play area that can be seen from most pitches
A few low key kids activities/crafts
A fish and chip van once a week
A little shop selling ice creams
Friendly owners

madwomanbackintheattic · 08/08/2015 17:13

Lol Serin. I miss camping in the UK.
