Les Valades and plug socket question

Is there anywhere in the loo/shower block to plug in a hairdryer? Don't think the amp will be up to it on pitch?

Gosh that's early booking! We did well to get a pitch, though we had to change our dates to get one. I don't think I'll ask which pitch we're on in case it's not what I want to hear!! But actually, are there any pitches you would avoid?

hillbilly · 26/07/2015 07:37

No all the pitches are lovely - the whole site is. The top ones where you are are close to reception which is very handy, but then you have to walk down to the pool and lake (only a few mins and downhill) and the ones by the lake obv mean you have to trek up to reception/restaurant/shop (uphill!).

The lake pitches and the ones with their owns loos/showers always go first because there are fewer of them.

Believe me the whole place is fab!

profpoopsnagle · 26/07/2015 08:12

I agree with HB, all the pitches are lovely and have plus points. Whilst I was tempted by the big one offered by the pool I am quite pleased we are up the top. My LO's can bob off to the craft morning on their own because they'd be much nearer but if I was nearer pool I'd feel obliged to schlep off with them to keep an eye. Last year we were next to the field in the top row and it was a lovely view that way, especially at sunset. The only downside about being up top is realising you've forgotten the lifejackets when you get to the lake...

How long have you booked for MM?

OP posts:
millimat · 26/07/2015 08:16

We're there for 10 nights x

hillbilly · 28/07/2015 19:58

Getting very excited now - we leave for France on Thursday afternoon! See you all there Grin

profpoopsnagle · 29/07/2015 15:32

Safe journey hillbilly are you stopping overnight anywhere? Hope any cross channel crossing and driving is trouble free.

One more week to wait for us... really beyond excited!

My camping days are over but I've had a lovely bout of nostalgia reading this thread Smile

Naturally I had to visit the les Valades website & was tickled to death to read the following (what a chaste campsite it must be!).

I'm racking my brains to think of the word they were really after...

The site has 60 camping – caravaning pitches : all of them have been carefully landscaped, at varying levels, and offer a panoramic view of the valley. They are naturally surrounded by hedges, trees and shrubs to avoid promiscuity, while enjoying the nature.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 29/07/2015 16:19

Oh! Is it proximity?

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 29/07/2015 16:29

Ah - I think they meant to say something simple like "for privacy"?

(vivre dans la promiscuité - to have no privacy)

The site looks amazing anyway. Hope you all have a great time & good weather (do you organise MN meet-ups?)

hillbilly · 29/07/2015 18:34

Promiscuity? Oh we would not want that!

Prof - I ended booking an earlier ferry that originally planned and hoped we could get on site a day early but no such luck, so we are staying in an airbnb place very close to the site for 1 night. Arrive on site Saturday morning.

profpoopsnagle · 31/07/2015 09:39

I must have been thinking about this thread too much- had a dream last night that we turned up but the pitch we had chosen was inside a huge barn. We asked if there were other pitches available and they showed us one by the bar and another had a laminate floor was really uneven and had people packing up on it still. Confused

So for those arriving this week - it's bloody hot. 40 degrees today at its highest. We had some rain this evening too which was very welcome. We have done nothing but laze around since we arrived on Saturday. Bliss!

holdingontight · 04/08/2015 06:37

Blimey Hillbilly that is scorchio. Fabulous, can't wait!!

I am counting the days now, kids beyond excited. In fact so am I GrinGrin

holdingontight · 05/08/2015 06:59

I know millimat... Next weekend is looking stormy...Hmm

HairyMaclary · 05/08/2015 22:14

Car all packed, arms set for 4.30 (!). Les Valades here we come! Really looking forward to it, we arrive Friday, hope it stays hot!

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 06/08/2015 00:39

Forecast from weatherpro (usually fairly reliable) for Sarlat for the next 7 days

Looks pretty good (if you like it hot Wink) apart from a few showers on Saturday

Stormy weekend forecast and then looking better next week.

Sobek · 07/08/2015 17:24

Probably a silly question, but is the EHU the standard blue plug type?

HairyMaclary · 08/08/2015 10:50

The ehu is a standard French plug socket so you need an adapt for the ehu bit, you can get them from Amazon but i'm sure we borrowed one from the campsite when we came last time.

We are sat in out tent listening to the heavy rain on the canvas {sad}

profpoopsnagle · 10/08/2015 13:06

Ok, we're here! Bit of a long journey yesterday so tempers were a little fraught when pitching Grin if you happened to walk past but feeling more settled now Wine Cake. I think there is a lot more Brits on site this year than last Hmm are you all secret Mnetters? Looking forward to a good couple of relaxing weeks, and I hope I pluck up the courage to say hi to you all.

Hi Prof I passed by when you had just arrived and figured you needed some space to sort yourselves out. I'm down at the bottom next to hairymclary and we are on pitches 57 and 58.

millimat · 10/08/2015 20:44

We'll be there tomorrow Grin

millimat · 11/08/2015 20:04

Thank you - I'm impressed!
