Icey tek - squeeeeeee!

A 40l orange cube iceytek (and two gel packs, because if you're going to spend that much on a cool box what's another £25 on ice packs) is winging it's way to me as we speak!

I'm so excited!

It's also taken me 3 years to get to the point of actually buying one.

And yes, they're so worth it after I borrowed a friend's for a weekend and we had ice in our G&Ts on the second night, cold white wine and the kids got ice cream all weekend.

I keep coming back to these Icey Tek threads! We have an Igloo 56L which suits us just fine. Always cool it the night before and it does well for 3/4 days - longer when I change the ice blocks. And it fits perfectly in our car with all our other essential unnecessary kit.

The trouble is....I really covet a bright yellow Icey Tek! I can't imagine that the 40L would be big enough and the next size up is HUGE!

Baalamooree · 05/06/2015 14:32

Wow, can't imagine a 56l hillbilly

Genius formula pinkpanda

Now, I don't really like the idea of having to lie a bottle of wine on its side - it will mean I'll have to drink the whole bottle...

Mind you, if you have to stick with a 25l coolbox....well why do they make 3l wine boxes (easy to stack)? Or those lovely little 250ml bottles??
I am not really having a sneaky Friday gin martini in the garden dreaming about sunny camping trips with Tekster GrinGrin

hillbilly · 06/06/2015 08:10

It doesn't seem that big to me Baalamoree Grin it's probably about 70cm long. And to be fair when I camped over Easter for 5 days I had absolutely ALL our food in there for the whole trip!

Still want a pretty yellow cool box though......

NogbagTheBag · 06/06/2015 14:03

Mine arrived yesterday!

24l is plenty big enough for us I think, it seems bigger than our old one at least.

Hopefully we are going away at the end of next week so we can try it out Grin

(I was -panicking- a little worried about wine bottles not fitting until DH pointed out we don't usually drink wine, and provided we can fit the cider in, it should be fine BlushGrin)

RhubarbCrumbled · 07/06/2015 17:49

Just back from a weekend away and unpacked the icey tek. The butter is still hard. The cider is still cold. DH enjoyed many ice cold beers and hasn't had to worry about food poisoning. It's amazing.

Squeeee indeed, RhubarbCrumbled, I am just smiling at the bright yellow box sitting on the floor that arrived in the week! Can't wait to try it out - and what a brilliant idea about a wine box :) Wonder if I can plumb it to the outlet on the side of the box....

pinkpanda101 · 07/06/2015 18:48

Omg that's a brill idea about the wine box! Hmmmm just a little bit of narrow tubing and a plastic tap should do it!!

Baalamooree · 08/06/2015 16:30

Good idea about the wine box.

I know, I'll make a model of the 40l and place it in my boot. That will help me decide.

Is Mumsnet having another Iceytek offer (please, pleas)?

SalomeD · 11/06/2015 12:53

Finally taken the plunge and the red 40L arrived this morning.

Now, ladies, I know you said it was big but I still don't think I was prepared for this!!

(Julia at CoolBoxes UK says sorry but they're not offering free delivery this year - I tried!)

Here it is basking in the summer sunshine!
