Go on laugh at me but I'm looking for non twee, non country supporting bunting. I saw some last year on ebay that was wonderfully medieval and would have really suited the bell. Now of course I can't bloody find it again.

Anyone seen any decent, non expensive bunting?

Feeling just a little excited at this. I once spent a lovely holiday with a friend making pretty bunting that we hung all over her French farmhouse.

I'm hoping DS can get his Jamboree patrol on board with this. I've already mentally earmarked some old quilt covers!

I called him in to show him your replies. He said "What's DS?" (He probably had Nintendo in his head)

Fairy lights I can JUST about understand as they help you find your tent in the dark, but I still wouldn't be seen dead with them. But bunting? Just no.

FrozenAteMyDaughter · 06/07/2014 20:48

I always mean to bunt but I always forget to make it in time for the camping weekend I meant to bring it on. [Sighs enviously at all these successful bunting-making stories].

I stretched to battery operated paper lanterns on our French holiday last week but had to keep getting up at 3am to bring them in at the first rumble of thunder. Very tiring all this tent prettification.

BeeBlanket · 06/07/2014 20:50

Actually Slubber I'll have you know, in medieval times they really cared about making their tents frippery-tastic.

look at this lot!

Keeping it comfy-crafty, medieval-style.

Slubberdegullion · 06/07/2014 21:02

Pfft.

They're not bunted though are they? More like some poor peasant has had to do a spot of embroidery on the King's own bell.

I bet the common archers and other assorted soldiers etc didn't have a load of wanky swags and filigree all over their tents.

I like to occasionally imagine shooting/destroying people when camping.

The bunters get a Panzer tank sent over the top of their tents.

Fannydabbydozey · 06/07/2014 22:17

Ok FINE. I'll have a couple of peasants to decorate my bell (tent).

I COULD try to make it I guess. I mean I did buy lovely striped material to make glamp wind breaks as the ones commonly available are just not fucking gorgeous enough to go with my seriously tarted tent interior. That has yet to happen but you never, ever know (but I need to find the metal tipped poles first and I doubt I could wundaweb a windbreak)

Anyway, slubber, I have a tent peg puller - only thing that will get my lovely deltas out the ground sometimes. And I have no electric shenanigans. But I do feel my bell needs lots of frippery like lights and rugs and sequins and bunting. I just don't want damn flowery or gingham...

I made mine. From very special, souvenir Mexican stripey fabric wot they make actual serapes out of (Slubber - this is a reference to Fucking Craft. It's ok) that I bought in San Diego in 2001. So mine has meaning.

Whatevs.

When I see 'Bunting Tent Fire' on you tube, or a news piece on the local radio where some poor child had to be airlifted to hospital because of serious life threatening entanglement in the nasty little triangles then I shall be VINDICATED.

And I shall start a thread telling you all so.

CharmQuark · 07/07/2014 19:11

These people make a great range of bunting. I have Camo bunting form them and some pop art.

Fram · 08/07/2014 00:17

I would like bunting of the nautical signal flags.
It would say "fuck off with your twee kidston-esque bunting, glampers"
but look like this, obviously.

I would have to wrap it 3 or 4 times around my tiny tent too Sad

Would 'Bunting Is 4 Cunts' fit round your tent and be less of a nether-region entangling fire hazard perhaps?

I don't attach bunting to my tent, I usually hang it around bushes and trees in the passive aggressive sort of way that the French put out a portable picket fencing and other people tether dogs - to mark out my territory.

Fram · 08/07/2014 22:05

Actually, "Bunting4Cunts" is probably already an etsy shop... Grin

We never seem to be on sites with trees handy for some reason!
Possibly because it always rains, and I like to not be under a tree then.

Fannydabbydozey · 08/07/2014 22:26

Cunting bunting would be longer and scans better...

oh ................. has no one linked to the CuntBunting yet?

Fab!

CharmQuark · 09/07/2014 18:00

These posh tent peg pullers - I just use another tent peg hooked or slotted horizontally under the top of the stuck peg.

Well'ard.

yellowdinosauragain · 09/07/2014 18:05

'Bunting tent fire' would indeed be tragic. One imagines similar to 'compost fire secondary to smouldering bbq ash' perhaps hey slubber?

I'm not a fan of bunting. I prefer my big tall pirate flag which is my only non functional bit of camping kit

BeCool · 09/07/2014 18:05

Charm. I thought a peg puller was a peg!!

yellowdinosauragain · 09/07/2014 18:05

Cross posted once again charm. Me too with the tent peg puller.

Fram · 09/07/2014 18:09

charmquark- we do exactly the same! Why on earth would one need a separate piece of kit? Confused

alabasterangel · 11/07/2014 22:55

Hang on. I need to understand the camping law.....

  • fairy lights, for ID purposes, fine.
-fairy lights for fluffyness, no no no.
  • bunting, home made, fine, preferably out of family tartan or Tibetan peace purposes.
  • bunting, non-home made or for frippery only, not fine. Twee ditsy fabric banned.

Do not wish to commit camping faux pas. Worried.
