Anyone going to CarFest this year, North or South

We're off to CarFest South and are lucky enough to have a camper van ticket and I'm starting to get excited.

Anyone else going this year?

Us to Carfest South. 3rd year for us and each time has been brilliant.

dwinnol · 27/06/2014 20:29

Didn't get van tickets though. So we'll be in the tent doing the Sundance.

millimat · 27/06/2014 20:45

I'd live to go to carfest north but its soooo expensive Sad

TheSkiingGardener · 27/06/2014 23:13

It's our third year too. We did both North and South the first year! Couldn't believe it when we got campervan tickets again this year. We tented it the first year at South.

Still trying to work out how to get the 1 year old and 4 year old home to bed each night after the bands though. It's a big hill when you're tired.

Yes it is a big hill. DP pushed me down it in one of those trolleys you can hire last year, what a ride. Mine at 12 and 9 so I kindly let them pull me up the hill.

We're off to North again, 3rd time too. entered cakes v pies so will have to wait and see as to whether I get selected, eek!

Just ordered a canopy for our tent, going away this weekend to try it out. (If it gets delivered in time that is...)

Plan to arrive early at carfest this year as it was a nightmare trying to find space for just our tent last year and we weren't that late arriving!

TheSkiingGardener · 30/06/2014 21:10

Ooh good luck. I entered the first year at South and did Great Grandmas fruit cake. I never found out how it did as we got stranded the wrong side of the track!

Would anyone mind spilling the beans on how much CarFest actually costs? It is soooo much not my thing (though I will go anywhere for a few nights under canvas and some BBQed food!) but DS would love every second of it and it's the closest I am ever likely to get DH to a festival :o

TheSkiingGardener · 01/07/2014 21:50

A weekend camping ticket is £135. Family weekend camping is £270.

Not cheap but you get a lot of entertainment for that!

Thanks skiing, do you have to buy entry tickets on top of that? I've had a look on eBay and prices vary so much it's hard to tell what is what Hmm

Thanks :)
Sadly no availability on StubHub to suit us. I think I will leave that weekend free for a "camping trip" and if we are lucky there may be some late availability. Otherwise we will go and get gently drunk in a field somewhere :o

TheSkiingGardener · 02/07/2014 08:43

Go on the CarFest 2014 Facebook group. People are always offering tickets on there at face value.

CarFest North still has some day tickets available on the CarFest website too.

Thanks skiing :)
We are on the south coast so a trip to CarFest would have to be for the weekend as it will involve kennels/ cattery etc. North is just too far to be worthwhile :(

crookmum · 03/07/2014 11:30

It's our first trip to Carfest (we are going to North) would love some tips of what we should take with us. We are campers but have never taken the kids to a festival before. I'm currently debating whether to book a pre-erected tent as our tent is on the large side and I'm worried that we will have problems pitching it as we probably won't be there until Friday lunchtime..

Kids are 11,8 and 5. I love the idea of the kids getting dressed up!! Off to look at your links for wagons, ear defenders and travel johns (never heard of them before !!)

TheSkiingGardener · 03/07/2014 15:42

I love that wagon. We can't decide though. Isn't it more of a pest to pull round all day? And would a 4 year old and. 1 year old sleep in it?

My 5 year old would LOVE the wagon, but I think the other 2 will also want to share and it's definitely not big enough for 3 ;)

What are the food outlets like?

TheSkiingGardener · 03/07/2014 18:32

Food outlets are amazing. Lots of very varied options. Not cheap, but last time one evenings meal was a rotisserie chicken half, some dahl and other Indian bits and some fresh baked bread with half a Camembert.

OP posts:
TheSkiingGardener · 03/07/2014 18:32

That was to share by the way, not just me!
