Getting much colder on Friday - widespread frosts Friday night Shock

We're getting the tent out for the first time for 3 nights next weekend. Think I'll give the suncream a miss and pack the skiing gear instead!

Sad
hillbilly · 28/04/2014 07:22

I have seen it and am in total denial. DH usually won't camp in under 18 degrees so doubt I'll be able to persuade him Sad

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 28/04/2014 09:11

We'll have an EHU - I'm thinking of taking our electric fan heater for the first time.

I think we bought it years ago to dry a wall that had been plastered a bit more quickly. I'm usually against heating in tents, but I may have to make an exception this weekend.

But is it going to rain?!?!?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 28/04/2014 09:26

Hopefully not!

Cold is bad enough. Cold and wet is abysmal!

Oh Sad I didn't think it looked too bad when I'd checked. What part of the country are you in? TBH as long as it doesn't rain I can cope. I too have EHU for the awning so the fan heater will come out and I might take the hot water bottles too.
(have a camper van so staying warm and dry at night is easier)

Bumpinthenight · 28/04/2014 11:13

Nooo! I am running a DofE weekend. I am going to freeze!!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 28/04/2014 11:15

We're going to The Forest of Dean.

I'm only going by the weather forecast that I saw on Countryfile last night. There's still time for it to change

doradoo · 28/04/2014 11:30

Nooo - am going to a wedding in the forest of dean next saturday - please let it be nice - fingers crossed!!

Fourarmsv2 · 28/04/2014 18:50

Whereabouts IwishIwasmoreorganised? So are we - to Whitemead.

So long as it doesn't rain I won't complain :)

Oblomov · 28/04/2014 19:03

We are booked too. For 4 days : Fri, sat, sun and mon. Coming home Monday.
Am tempted not to go.
Is our first caravan trip of the year. We give the caravan a quick check over.
But cold? Rain?
Setting up in the rain?
Putting away a wet awning.
No thank you.
SERIOUSLY considering NOT gong.

Am I the only one?

sherbetpips · 28/04/2014 19:07

To be fair they haven't said what is happening after Friday other than a high is coming in, can do the chilly nights if we get sunny days!

sherbetpips · 28/04/2014 19:09

Oblomov - I think the weekend will be dry - do you need the awning or could you do without? I wouldn't cancel in a van unless you have kids sleeping in the awning?

Fourarmsv2 · 28/04/2014 19:10

No rain forecast for us in the FoD. Where are you going?

picnicbasketcase · 28/04/2014 19:14

Oh crapbags

Milliways · 28/04/2014 20:20

We are away this week, so of course the rain started on Friday as we were packing and followed us to Poole. However, today was lovely and we had trips out then a drink outisde whilst cooking a BBQ. Just retreated inside now as getting chiily. We are staying away until SUnday so ignoring the fact that the forecast bad weather seems to be tracking our route! I'm sure it will all be lovely.

MIL phoned today convinced we would have come home already because it's raining!

AlpacaLypse · 28/04/2014 20:23

It's been absolutely welting it down here today (Wilts).

I'm getting bored of this weather, am heading over to the Weather section to ask OYBBK for some new weather please!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 28/04/2014 20:39

Whitemead for us too!

Might see you there fourarms!

OP posts:
Oblomov · 29/04/2014 08:18

Dorset for us.
Am getting a bit worried.
Its the setting up in the rain and putting away in the rain that bothers me.
Obviously I don't WANT rain inbetween, but those two bits are what I dred.

hillbilly · 29/04/2014 11:07

Actually looking a bit better for Sunday and Monday now in the SE.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 29/04/2014 22:39

Dry and cold is the current forecast.

Better than wet and cold!

Our fan heater is working - I checked it tonight. Think we'll resort to that to make the mornings a bit more tolerable - ds's wake at 7am wherever we are and no matter how late they were the night before Confused

Fourarmsv2 · 01/05/2014 22:14

Small world IwishIwasmoreorganised!

We have an oil radiator, halogen heater & 3 electric blankets to add to arctic sleeping bags!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 01/05/2014 22:19

You'll be warmer than us I think!

OP posts:
hillbilly · 02/05/2014 12:43

Well we are off to Town Farm tomorrow. Sunday and Monday looking good and pitching the tent will keep us warm tomorrow Grin

RonSwansonsLushMoustache · 02/05/2014 23:01

We're off to Wiltshire. DH is actually quite excited about camping for a change so I hope the weather doesn't let us down.

Have a good weekend everyone.

I namechanged from Quenelle in case anyone remembers me.
