there is a site which I would like to make fellow mners aware of the issues before booking... and that reviews that aren't five star don't get passed by the management so basically nobody is aware of the problems. sigh.

ukcamping seems to be pretty honest

Pm me please. Would hate to make a costly mistake.
And yes uk campsite is usually quite trustworthy.

I think you should just share it Mrs shrek, if they cant take critisism from anonymous people then I wouldnt want to waste my money either!

I use Uk campsites and tip advisor and try to get a balance of views. We are all different at the end of the day and one families idea of a heavenly campsite will not be the same as the next family.

ahh sorry forgot campsite uk were out of 10. I posted a delicately worded comment about issues with one site there and it didn't get through moderators, although I have dozens of good / high scoring reviews on there already

The current one is universal on the site - six families with the same comments (didn't know any of them before getting there either) so not just my opinion.

This is a camping and caravanning club site. Some are fantastic, some dire. and they don't like to hear anything other than "you are wonderful". Which this particular site isn't.
sigh.

Ok so let me get this straight - we're saying that reviews posted to www.ukcampsite.co.uk are routinely moderated and poor reviews deliberately omitted? I have seen come recent reviews that have lower star ratings on there.....

Also, I don't see the issue with sharing details of the campsite here, we don't hesitate to share the good ones so why should it be any different to give a lest than glowing report if it is fair and balanced?

correct that ukcampsite.co.uk moderate / don't use reviews which contain comment that isn't positive. Polite and constructively worded comment included.

The current one is merely a safety warning tbh. And advice/forewarning wrt the pitches

I have seen adverse comment about named sites on here. A current thread about Eweleaze contains good and bad reviews, for example. If there are concerns about a site let us know. If others have had better experiences of the same site they can always post too.

Ukcampsite have published my negative reviews. Not that there are many (only two) - but they did get published.

Tripadvisor! A lot of campsites are reviewed there and bad reviews definitely allowed through!

Please name the site, we use C&C club sites and I'd prefer to avoid one if it's bad!

UKCampsite routinely edit people's posts and reviews and ban people without telling the reason!

There's quite a lot of people who used to post on that forum that can't access it any more (some for such bizarre reasons as asking what had happened to a frequent poster who didnt seem to be on the forum anymore).

Oh I'm disappointed now, I always look on campsite uk for ideas on where to go, I thought it was giving a true picture . Although it might explain why this year we thought we were going to a 'working farm', expecting something fairly rural, and ended up next to a dual carriageway crammed in like battery hens Working farm might have been there somewhere, there was a distinct smell of silage could have been the loos and I saw one lone hen that had obviously escaped! Was probably behind the masses of keep out signs that we saw on a gate as we turned in. Not a site we will be returning to!

I'm disappointed too, Pixel, I find cool camping a bit too limited and ukcampsite is always my first port of call...

I dunno though - I am sure there were some critical reviews on UK campsite about Eweleaze. And I am sure I have seen similar for other sites. Interesting about their mad banning policy!

I've seen critical reviews on UKCS for campsites and tents. I know that campsites have to pay to be listed on UKCS so imagine they have the power of veto. I have also seen that some campsites refuse to allow reviews (which is worse that having a bad review in my opinion).

Can you give more detail about what the issue is and maybe the collective wisdom of MN can put together a review that would pass UK Campsite's criteria?

ukcampsite DO publish negative reviews - I submitted one after last weekend and gave it four stars and a less than glowing report, and it has been published.

Have you read back your whole review??? Is it ALL still there??

It is - I was as objective as I could be, and explained I was describing it as I found it but I covered elements such as the 'very, very smelly toilets' and insufferable signposts ordering everyone about. The whole review went in.
