I know the mumsnet camping threads like Dutch tents. There is proper canvas galore here, some have bunting. I feel like a pretender with our Outwell magic. I'm lusting after them all.

We are on the island of Texel. It's lovely. Massive thunderstorm on Sunday but dry and warm since then. Fantastic family cycling routes. dd and I are on a tandem! It's a great place to camp, thoroughly recommend it. Not another British family in sight...people keep thinking I'm German.

It was like this when we were on holiday in the Vosges (eastern France) last month. Hardly another British family there either. Pyramides, fold-out trailer tents and sturdy canvas tunnels in every direction. The Dutch so know how to camp properly!
