Have just bought one of these instead of a Malu awning, to use with my bell tent. It seemed like a bargain. Now I just have to figure out how to put it up.

wow that looks fab. me thinks a little trip to lidl this afternoon, although my daughter will freak as aparantly she 'cant cope' with Lidl

what kind of monster have I created!!!

Caerlaverock · 19/06/2012 13:12

I just bought one this morning!

Carla123 · 19/06/2012 14:13

It is slightly yellowy cream, in comparison to the bell, but looks fine. Pack size is small enough.

I m sitting under mine right now!

DaftMaul · 19/06/2012 14:56

Caerlaverock, how high/low are the edges when it is set up?

Can you stand under it?

Caerlaverock · 19/06/2012 16:07

In have improvised but attaching to garden wall, otherwise it is quite low. You couldn't really stand up

Carla123 · 19/06/2012 16:40

The poles are only slightly higher than the A frame of the bell, so must only be about 5'8". For sitting under or as a porch it is fine. Not as versatile as the Malu unless I can get hold of some taller poles. It may have to go back while it is still unused Sad. That said, Im not sure whether I would stand under it much anyway Confused.

How small does it pack up?

Caerlaverock · 19/06/2012 18:24

62 cm long 20 high ish

MNP · 19/06/2012 18:54

Looks ideal to use with a tent.

Carla123 · 19/06/2012 19:00

Mine is 50x20x10. I haven't unfolded the whole thing yet (just took the poles out briefly) so its still packed neatly. I am going to keep it as the poles are actually a manageable height and If need be I will get a 210cm king pole set at a later stage. I'll pitch the bell and try the tarp out properly tomorrow.

aaargh! On Sunday I bought the Decathlon tarp, reduced to £25.
Would this be better?

Caerlaverock · 19/06/2012 19:16

Yours is cheaper blu

Carla123 · 19/06/2012 19:19

The Pole height on the Decathlon one is exactly the same as the Lidl one, at 180cm. I feel better now, as it must be a standard size (just not as tall as the Malu). The length & width of the Decathlon tarp are a bit smaller. Other than that, they look more or less the same, just different colours.

Carla123 · 19/06/2012 19:22

I would probably have bought the Decathlon one if I had seen it first, as the size may be more practical as a porch Smile.

Caerlaverock · 19/06/2012 19:23

Lidl one is much more enormous than I expected but it is nice

Blu · 19/06/2012 19:27

You can do a cunning thing with the Decathlon tarp - a windshield with a roof over the top, if that makes sense - like a little bus shelter. like this, look at the thumbnails Can you do that with the Lidl one?

Caerlaverock · 19/06/2012 19:30

Nope you only get 2 poles with the lidl one. Does that make you feel better blu?

Carla123 · 19/06/2012 19:32

I think you could if you had extra poles. It only comes with two. There are plenty of eyelets and guy lines to play around with, so it should be possible.

sorry crossed posts

Caerlaverock · 19/06/2012 19:33

Lidl one is a prettier shape

Carla123 · 19/06/2012 19:37

Isn't it a rectangle? I haven't seen it unfolded properly yet.

OP posts:
Caerlaverock · 19/06/2012 19:46

Nope more deformed hexagonal, bastard shape child of a hexagon and a diamond

Blu · 19/06/2012 20:07

It does make me feel a bit better as I like the shape and colour of the Lidl one. But probably the Decathlon one is less glamourous and more my style.

Caerlaverock · 19/06/2012 20:25

Yes whereas I am all glamour!
