Not a pop up.

Must have a porch are where we can leave back packs.

As many vents as possible.

As many doorways/openings with mesh screens possible.

Good HH

Need link of vair spacious trolley hold all. Do sncf trains have big luggage racks like we do? Surely they must.

I'm joking about taking the Cobb btw. That would obviously be utter madness. Trolley talk has excited me as I had concluded that I would have to leave beloved thermarest behind and would have to sleep on pisspoor low up with mouth air bed, but maybe not...

hmmm, Cobb.
I am a bit of an overpacker despite camping by train. But I need the 5 books, attractive rug, candles, incense and various nik-naks.
Now if I could figure out a way to take my bike too, that would be awesome. You reckon the train will wait while I go back and forth from taxi?

Tomjoules · 13/06/2012 18:23

No no no slubber, you just need a trekking sim. Will share ours soon. It is knee length so comfortable in the right places.

Yum at car tent.

Will you be trying this:

How do they go to the toilet?

Slubberdegullion · 13/06/2012 19:04

With due care and attention I would imagine.

Grin @ attractive rug, are you a minimalist-glamper Kal?

Tom I cannot buy more thermarests. Then we would have 8 thermarests which st deffo into the realms of crazers. I did lie on one a while back, tiny it rolled up, seriously tiny, and yet was akin to lying on cocooned angel farts when I got down on the floor. Amazeballs.

this was it. The NeoAir XLite. Chech out all the trade mark signs and bullshit tech speak. Lordy I love a bit of all that. They've missed a trick by not showing it rolled up next to an inanimate object for scale purposes. Think butternut squash (small one)

Dur. There is a movie with a buff Kiwi sorting it.

I wants one but I think dh (who is not a camper) might divorce me if I have another gadget. Just bought a foldy up washing up bowl and an awesome knife/fork/spoon foldup gizmo (which I have lost the instructions for and the buggery thing wont fold the extremely sharp knife back down)

KalSkirata · 13/06/2012 19:16

and a solar charger for my phone Blush

Slubberdegullion · 13/06/2012 19:23

They were £108 Kal. Dh had a constipated look on his face as I lay on the thermarest and then brightened spectacularly as go outdoors chap revealed the £12 bargain blow up beds that I just know will puncture/leak and almost certainly do not reflect your body heat back at you or come with a video of a bearded man in a beany hat.

Arse at unfoldownable knife. Can you google the instructions.

I have just bought a folding salad chopping board that doubles as a sieve.

Multipurpose tastic.

I also have an insulated mug that has a coffee plunger thing incorporated and keeps coffee warm for four hours.

Gets badge for geek convention.

KalSkirata · 13/06/2012 20:38

Its a Sigg. Just unpacked everything to find it. And did some hating on stupid sleeping bag which is too large.
oooo, cup n cafitiere combined. I have packed my turkish coffee pot Blush
As I have a trangia, it comes with a chopping board/seive combo

oh bugger. It says dont open knife first here

Have put a pic in my profile that shows the tent. No large man :) but do have three (sometimes cute) kids in front which might give you a better sense of proportion. I would say the porch is about 1/3rd of the total space, though the walls slope quickly so much of that space is suitable only for storage. I think a trolley would be possible at the highest end of the porch (but then you could lay it down?) Maybe a crate system on wheels would work better- doubling up as tent storage and furniture when you get there?

like this

Caerlaverock · 13/06/2012 21:05

Old teacher you need tonmakenyour profile public. Hurry up I am gasping to see yourntent

FannyBazaar · 14/06/2012 20:52

I'm a train (or bus or someone else's car) camper. I pack all my stuff into a wheeled hold all which folds down almost flat and goes under my camp bed. Unfortunately the camp bed is 3kg... Could put it under DS's SIM as he's only little and the sticky out bit would be by his feet.

YellowDinosaur · 14/06/2012 20:55

Asda direct have a folding trolley for a tenner...
