I chickened out at Easter so we're determined to go tomorrow. But it will be cold Sad

Yes, make sure you have plenty of insulation under the beds - they've forecast -6 in some places overnight Shock

lesstalkmoreaction · 03/05/2012 16:07

Where are you going? and yes the forecast is wet and cold.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 03/05/2012 16:11

I'm working so we can't but I'm missing campingSad

This time last year we had already had several camping trips, what turned out to be the hottest weekends camping we had all yearHmm This year, it's wellies and thermals.

We are definitely going jubilee weekend and are hopeful of a trip before then. I am getting desperate for a trip.

Heavymetalmater · 03/05/2012 17:20

Thinking about it but worried it is a bit cold. Desperate to try out new kit we have bought though. This weather is so frustrating.

Grockle · 03/05/2012 17:28

We're only going down the road to Wareham so if it's awful, we can come home. Have lots of insulation and am hoping it will not be -6! The forecast doesn't look too wet nor does it say it'll be below freezing.

Have warned DS that we may well come home. I'm sitting at home with the heating on, shivering so it doesn't bode well!

We are!!! the forecast is for nightime temps to be zero but it will by dry and not windy!! (it is always windy normally where i live). We are very excited as it is a mini family friendly festival we are going to

issyocean · 03/05/2012 18:01

We are off to Cornwall at least it won't be freezing!

Grockle · 03/05/2012 18:24

Oh good - am glad it's not just us!

NonnyMuss · 03/05/2012 18:42

Us, Scotland, fourth camping trip of the year.

I suspect the kids are going to remember this year as 'the year we went camping every weekend in the freezing cold'. :o

Grockle · 03/05/2012 18:43

Nonny, you are hardcore campers! I'm impressed My poor little DS is very excited but has only camped in good weather so far (purely luck!). This will be a shock!

We are! Group of 12 of us altogether and we are going to Wowo in East Sussex. Weather forecast is pretty dry for the moment but we have a gazebo if it gets nasty. I will be taking lots of bedding for warmth though.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 03/05/2012 21:01

We are too!

4 families meeting up in The Forest of Dean.

Could be cold but I'd prefer that to wet!!

Our ds's (3 and 6) are extremely excited!!

YellowDinosaur · 04/05/2012 08:54

We were meant to be going with 10 other families in Wales but the weather forecast was just too dismal :(

About 8 of us are camping for just sat night now, we're cheating in a heated camping pod but it feels like a good compromise especially for my camp hating dh!

Aboutlastnight · 04/05/2012 08:58

We are going with several families to mull of kintyre. Am just off to buy Teflon suits more insulation!

dotty2 · 04/05/2012 15:03

We have a site booked in rural Lincolnshire, near enough to come home in the middle of the night if it's truly freezing and go back the next day to get the tent (that's my fantasy back-up, which is keeping me sane at the thought of freezing temperatures - though suspect you might not actually be allowed to drive your car out of the site in the middle of the night). Only been camping in weather that's at least warmish before.

ChippyMinton · 04/05/2012 15:06

I'm off as soon as the DC are home from school.
Have usual SIMs, bags, fleece blankets plus survival blankets and a couple of down duvets Grin
DH, sensibly staying at home, is laughing his head off (but has lent me his lovely sleeping bag Smile.

Also plenty of Wine and cocktails-in-a-can for sundowners!

Have a great weekend everyone!

issyocean · 05/05/2012 07:57

Right! We are off to Cornwall after D has been to ballet.H and I are arguing about what we need to take (as unusual,he is very basic).
Oh and the fact that he has just remembered that he lent our airbed and pump to his mate!! Angry

Fuctifano · 05/05/2012 09:55

Only managing one night, but as soon as DH brings the DDs back from their training we are offski. Sunny but cold, bring on the rosy cheeks and snuggling up. Breezy St Andrews for us.
As Dotty said "have a great weekend" hoping it's the first of many.

AngryFeet · 05/05/2012 16:54

Have been at campsite. It has been horrendous. I have gone to my parents to get clean and dry and am planning to stay the night and go back for the final night tomorrow. My friends are all still there but none of them have kids and dh is not around so what with the constant rain, mud and freezing cold I can't cope anymore Sad

AngelsWithSilverWings · 05/05/2012 19:38

I'm in my tent as I type. It's really cold but the kids are having the best time ever playing with all the other kids in the play park. They are refusing to come in for bedtime!

Thermals and a fan heater have saved this trip but I think we will pack up and leave on on Sunday night instead of Monday morning.

Also camping during the jubilee weekend and hoping the weather improves as no electric hook up at the site we are going to - just a campfire to keep us warm!

Milliways · 05/05/2012 20:50

We were away last Mon-Wed and then again Thurs till today. Have had a lovely time. :)

Grockle · 05/05/2012 21:25

Urgh, it was so cold, we came home. I wanted to get the tent away while it was still dry-ish and it didnt look good for tomorrow or Monday so we gave in. Although it was cold, it wasn't unbearable at night - 2 10 tog duvets and 4 hot water bottles made it manageable. We had a fab time but I'm too old to rough it for more than one night!

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 06/05/2012 06:53

:(

everythingtodo · 06/05/2012 07:03

I'm still waiting for that magic 10C temp - I won't go camping until the forecasted low is at least that Grin

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 06/05/2012 17:39

We are in Woolacombe where they had forecast snow/sleet this weekend! We have had some glorious sunshine today - the only thing we didnt plan (and pack!) for.

A little shower has almost put pay to tonights BBQ but that seems to have passed so I think I am going to brave the elements! Forecast is not good for tomorrow (rain!) but we've had a great time so I probably won't grumble....
