I can't decide if she should go and give it a try over at the lakes where we are booked. DH doesn't want to but I want to try my new tent out. I just don't know what to do?
Anyone else braving it? or has anyone chickened out?

Also have a new tent to test out, am very determined to get out there!!!! :o

PurplePidjINRE · 05/04/2012 17:25

Off to Cornwall next week to a VW Show to celebrate a bunch of mad bastards mates who are doing JOG to LE this week for charity on 49cc mopeds.

Will be in a camper, though Wink

We're still going!!!! (But we are heading further south to Exmouth. Weather looks ok until Sunday then rain on Monday).

We last went to the Lake District in July and it rained ALL week - even the dog refused to go out in it! (Go on cosysocks - get your wellies out, you know you want to!)

DesolationAngel · 05/04/2012 19:10

My site cancelled on me, too much snow and no electricity Sad. However today I have managed to book us into a wigwam down South Grin

IllegitimateGruffaloChild · 05/04/2012 19:20

We just got back.

It was SO cold. We're glad we went, but wouldn't do it again in April.

No matter how many layers you have on, it can't protect you from the pain of breathing cold air.

Grockle · 05/04/2012 19:24

I really felt that I'm a wuss it is too cold to be camping with a bad back and DS is recovering from tonsillitis and, and, and...

Sad
IllegitimateGruffaloChild · 05/04/2012 19:30

We're in good health and it was HARD work.

Slightest twinge and I'd be off too.

cosysocks · 05/04/2012 19:34

Well we have def decided, However we are going to take tent to field to put it up and see how to do. Been looking at booking up for may. Its not the rain as the cold and the rain.
Desolation lol I was just saying to dh about wigwams but I think they will all be taken for the weekend.

May I jump in here and say the weather forecast for Cornwall this weekend is lovely so get yourselves down here not sure I'd camp though.

IllegitimateGruffaloChild · 05/04/2012 19:39

HaHa Ariel - love it Grin

MrsMc82 · 05/04/2012 19:39

Hmmmm I meant "above" freezing!!!

cosysocks · 05/04/2012 19:47

Ariel I'd love to do Cornwall but since were in north east it costs the same to buy a small island to drive down (done it two years ago)

Grockle · 05/04/2012 19:59

I've always wanted to go to Cornwall & I live in the southwest so it's doable... just not this weekend

hels71 · 05/04/2012 20:08

WE went last Friday and came back yesterday ( day early but the tent was dry and rain forecast) I was most worried about being cold over night but we were lovely and toasty in sleeping bags, layers and duvets. However going to and from the loo and shower and being out in the day was not so good. DD kept moaning she was cold.............we have decided not to camp this early again, we will have to save up for a static caravan or cottage or something if we want a holiday at easter next year............

IllegitimateGruffaloChild · 05/04/2012 21:04

We had caravan envy. They all looked proper snug.

No wresting wet canvas for them. Envy

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 06/04/2012 20:55

Well I am very glad we braved it ...... we have had a glorious days sun and its not too nippy now. There are only 2 tents here and the rest are smug caravaners ..... our neighbours kept looking out at us eating outdoors as if we are nuts! (They may be right!)

Hope you all enjoy your easter!

CroissantNeuf · 06/04/2012 21:01

A friends teenage daughter went to a camping party last night -apparently the temp went down to -1 and a few of them phoned parents or taxis during the night to go home.

Friends DD lasted til 6am until she cracked and phoned for a lift!

(Midlands area)

IllegitimateGruffaloChild · 06/04/2012 21:06

It was quite nice here today (at home).

Thoughts for Holmsley campers

here

We've camped there before - it's lovely. Not sure if they'll recover well from this.

So, so sad.

cheerup · 06/04/2012 21:08

We're off to Beekse Bergen Eurocamp safari tenting tomorrow. Forecast for tomorrow night is -1 so we're taking thermals, fleecy PJs, sleeping bags and duvets although I'm honestly more worried about rain than cold.

IllegitimateGruffaloChild · 06/04/2012 21:08

Sorry - that looks like such an insensitive post.

I think I was trying to say that people had a much worse night than the one I was whinging about. My DCs came home safe and well.

When things like this happen, I always wonder how the businesses take the hit.

Like That place in Portugal where Madeline McCann went missing. Does everyone get afraid 'by association'?

cosysocks · 06/04/2012 21:33

So sad to see what happened. Sad

cheerup - we had a family holiday with Eurocamp over 20 years ago - I have such fond memories of that holiday as it was in the south of france and lovely and hot in August
