Is anyone going?

I've never been before and have questions...

Do we need camping plus?
Will the showers be a nightmare?
How much does food cost?

Any tips?

It would be cheaper with a 5 week old. Grin

My 6 year old costs us a fortune everywhere we go.

ifancyashandy · 24/07/2012 22:27

Ooh, am going for 1st time! Have gone over the top for Boutique Camping though. Someone else putting the tent up & down on Monday is going to be worth every pretty penny! Just me & a mate & I cannot wait!!

sailorsgal · 24/07/2012 22:30

I've got dh to put up the tent and set up on Thursday, am arriving after work hoping the wine is on ice. Grin

FoxSake · 24/07/2012 22:32

5 weeks is a good age for camping, they don't do much and sleep alot, hopefully. Grin

IHeartKingThistle · 24/07/2012 22:39

I'm going to be wandering around wondering which ones are the MNetters! We should put (subtle!) signs on our tents!

StarlightWithAsteroid · 24/07/2012 22:40

Can anyone tell me where I should aim to put up the tent? It's a 5m bell.

I can't be doing with bunfights over space or guy rope duels and whilst our intention is to arrive when campsite opens we never managed such tasks before we got ourselves a 5yr old with ASD never mind now.

FoxSake · 24/07/2012 22:46

i'll hang my MN scarf outside.

fivegomadindorset · 24/07/2012 22:47

Definitely not camping, but if you pass a farmhouse B&B on your way to the Yellow entrance, that is us.

DontCallMeBaby · 24/07/2012 23:06

Starlight you should put your tent on a 30 degree slope, it's fuuuun, honest ...

I will be aiming to camp somewhere reasonably flat which is not downwind of the loos. That is all.

We will have a 4m bell (phoebechicken), red and grey dome tent (me), three DDs in a selection of Boden frocks, loadsa solar fairies, very home made bunting in rather odd colours, and a non-pimped garden trolley (wheels off after dark for security purposes). Oh, and the flag of Gloucestershire, subject to remembering to take it (I have at least found it now).

fivegomadindorset · 24/07/2012 23:15

Good luck with the reasonably flat bit Grin i have knackered myself over the parkland over the last 40 years.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 24/07/2012 23:16

Ooh, I'll look out for you. We'll be in a boring bell tent with no bunting or lights and the inside will resemble a jumble sale. We will be putting in bent pegs withour feet in the twilight (most likely) using a bike light and arguing about whether the centre pole is vertical (which will be a whole lot more interesting if on a slope) Hmm

We're fun people - honest Grin

JollyBear · 25/07/2012 21:56

We've just packed and I have no idea how we are going to fit it all in the car never mind lug it from the car to the camp site. Stories of the big hill are scaring me!

Is it worth getting a trolley or is it too far from the car park to the trolley hire?

StarlightWithAsteroid · 25/07/2012 22:13

Still packing here!!!!!

Know nothing about trolleys but since I'll have Ds in a buggy and two other kiddies DH will have to do most of the lugging.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 25/07/2012 22:14

We're packing for 3 weeks too as are going on afterwards.

DontCallMeBaby · 25/07/2012 22:17

We're packed. Few bits left to go in, then off to phoebechicken's to get her and the girls, and we'll be off.

The fun bit will be unpacking the ENTIRE car in order to get the trolley out. Hmm

Also must set satnav not to take us through the centre of Bristol this time. Stupid contraption.

IHeartKingThistle · 25/07/2012 22:18

Still packing here too!

HilaryM · 26/07/2012 00:23

Mmm. Still packing, on my lonesome. It's laaaaaate but I want to finish tonight.

thrifty · 26/07/2012 07:27

Ooooo, excited much, me? Absolutely :) car packed, at work currently, leaving around 2ish, I can't wait :)

DontCallMeBaby · 26/07/2012 07:49

Apparently I have a choice of going through Bristol or Bath! What joy! This whole journey and setting up thing is not my favourite thing in the world ... it'll be worth it!

StarlightWithAsteroid · 26/07/2012 12:59

Planned to leave at 5am. Started engine at 10:30.

DontCallMeBaby · 29/07/2012 19:10

Hello!

I am in a tent!

Having a late siesta before heading out to look at the kids garden after dark, catch the last of the Happy Mondays set, and watch the fireworks. Or you could say I am hiding from feral children.

Oh - pitch IS fairly flat, by Lulworth standards, but DD still managed to slide ALL the way out of her bed this morning. Grin

StarlightWithAsteroid · 29/07/2012 20:49

I'm in tent trying to get warm. Damn all this outside stuff!

Kids with me. DH with asbestos legs and arms out to wander the end of the festival and bring me back chips. If kids still awake will set up chairs outside for fireworks.

Brrrrrrrrr

StarlightWithAsteroid · 30/07/2012 13:36

Ah well, just met the Happy M

StarlightWithAsteroid · 30/07/2012 14:01

Ondays in a petrol Station. Well 3 of them anyway, Inc Bez.

DontCallMeBaby · 30/07/2012 15:22

Ooh, exciting post-festival experience!

Meanwhile, we are in Blandford Tesco, force feeding the children fruit and marvelling at the flush toilets.
