Centerparcs too pricey - hate tents - what else?

Well that's it really. We've been to centerparcs a few times but we always end up spending too much money and it gets a bit ... tired.

What else is there for a young family? Pontins?!

go to a nice b&b somewhere!

flutterbee · 02/02/2006 22:57

Why don't you just hire a cabin or cattage etc and then make your own activities during the day.

JanH · 02/02/2006 22:57

Centerparcs are outrageous! I just priced 4 nights at Feb half-term and it was over £700!

When, mp? And where? Give us a clue! There are lots of UK cottage complexes which have pools, games rooms etc and if you can go outside school hols they are quite reasonable.

morningpaper · 02/02/2006 22:58

south west of england

late may perhaps? warm weather

House swap??

There is a thing I've seen advertised called Cornish Tipi Holidays which looks like great fun.

SorenLorensen · 02/02/2006 23:02

Caravan? Now is a good time for deals - I just booked a week (summer half term) in a caravan in Cornwall with Parkdean Holidays - there was £30 pw 'Early Bird' discount (extended til the end of February) and another £20 discount for booking online. Came to £300 altogether. And if you can go in term time it's even cheaper.

ShaysMummy · 02/02/2006 23:04

we have a caravan, thats how cool i am!!! its very sweet and cosy. it is coming back into fashion apparently.....
every time we go away we meet more and more young peeps.

morningpaper · 02/02/2006 23:05

I looked up the Cornish Tipi Holidays but they were Centerparcs pricey

How about a portacabin in the woods somewhere?

JanH · 02/02/2006 23:06

Check this out - 7 nights from 20/05, £612 a week (over £1000 at half-term, avoid school hols at all costs!)

SorenLorensen · 02/02/2006 23:07

Those Cornish Tipi holidays look fantastic, don't they? Too pricey for us either, sadly.

morningpaper · 02/02/2006 23:09

spidermama you are not helping! :p

Wow that place looked FAB JanH, hmm maybe I should persuade some friends to come too...

JanH · 02/02/2006 23:13

Also £612 a week

There are loads like this, many sleep 8-10-12 so you can go with a gang and it works out much cheaper.

SorenLorensen · 02/02/2006 23:14

Not tempted by my caravan? The site we're staying at has Butlins stylee 'entertainers' (barf )

morningpaper · 02/02/2006 23:18

The caravan is tempting

but Jan's been teasing me with her castles

SorenLorensen · 02/02/2006 23:39

OK, last ditch attempt to persuade you...

This will be dh and I in June

(This is a genuine pic from the brochure btw )

expatinscotland · 02/02/2006 23:41

Tents are great when you're young, single and childfree. And it's warm out.

Self-catering cottage all the way.

JanH · 02/02/2006 23:41

Oh moo, I recognised you instantly, with the blonde hair and everything!

They are v nice, aren't they, mp? Loads to do. Defo recommend rounding up a gang if poss. (Also recommend booking by phone rather than online )

JanH · 02/02/2006 23:42

NB I don't think you actually get the castle bit

SorenLorensen · 02/02/2006 23:50

No, you get a portakabin in the grounds.

handlemecarefully · 02/02/2006 23:53

I second starlover's b&b suggestion; you get real 'character' on a budget

Surfermum · 03/02/2006 00:02

\link{http://www.stmoritzvillas.co.uk\St Moritz Villas are nice. I've stayed there lots of times.

Surfermum · 03/02/2006 00:02

morningpaper · 03/02/2006 20:46
