so I am fed up with the rest of MN (this whole mamazon shite really is the ,last straw), so I am assuming that if any of you are trolling you are showing extraordinary persistence by delving into the thrills of iceytec and are worth chatting to.

So anyway, hi, I am SeaShells, I have 2 dc and have been camping and trapsing through the Great Outdoors all my life. I hang out here as my love of camping is more a love of the countryside and life, and you lot have a similar outlook.

Hello I'm back too. Am slightly sulky at the fact that you are all going off and ^doing^ camping, whereas I'm just talking about it (story of my life....).

Bet the sales of moon chairs has dramatically increased as a result of this thread, or at least interest on websites!

My next lot of camping isn't till 11th August, so its got loads of time to completely climate change and turn monsoon like. And this was my big trip to convince DH that camping is fun, not wet. I even bought an aerobed. Actually, I've just paid my credit card this morning and am absolutely horrified at how much I've spent this year, although a huge chunk of it was a roofbox and all the fixtures and fittings.

Come and cheer me up. Please.

MisSalLaneous · 04/07/2011 12:41

Ah don't worry, August not far off (what on earth happened with the year??). And, seeing as we're camping this weekend = Thunder and rain guaranteed, a change of seasons might just be good!

Stalker warning: Just clicked on your profile, the description of where you lived made me laugh!

notwavingjustironing · 04/07/2011 12:45

Mind you I am going to Spain for a week before that, so maybe any sympathy is a bit misplaced.

But where's the fun in going on a plane when you can be rearranging the contents of your boxes?

Slubberdegullion · 04/07/2011 12:49

well done on new tent procurememnt scary.

i am sorting out travel insurance. This is THE MOST boring morning I have had in a long time and that is saying something.

notwaving, hang on a jiff and I'll upload the pics of the death socks.

Slubberdegullion · 04/07/2011 12:58

SeaShellsAndTheInlawInvasion · 04/07/2011 14:21

Christ, don't let s and b see those pics Slubber!! Sandals look kist the job though :). And liking the tent.

I wish we'd camped this weekend, it beautiful again today. Shame dh is so busy at the moment.

Lawks a mussy!

That's a bang on trend you're rocking there lady!

Your tent I covert, your socks, maybe not quite so much.

Feeling much better, have just been out for a Mcdonalds business lunch, and have created a "how many more sleeps till camping" countdown sheet for me the boys.

So was it beachy Welsh Wales, or middle of nowhere Welsh Wales at the weekend?

Slubberdegullion · 04/07/2011 14:44

Don't you think SeaShells? tell you what though, not only were feet bite free, they were fresh as a daisy after 3 hour tramp up and down Moel Famau yesterday. Coolmax technology that is, IN MY SOCKS.

notwaving it was weirdy mid NWales with people who quite patently did NOT want us staying at their empty, weed-ridden hard standing of a site. I went early with dd1 to set up and when dh appered all he could say was "Why are we camping in a car park?".

but the view, oh the view...

a trip to chalk up to experience and 'do yyou remember when....' rather than fabulous.

MisSalLaneous · 04/07/2011 15:02

Sweet vs sweat smell good, Slubber. You know the weird thing though? I think the socks makes the sandals look better, in a weird "Yes, I planned this look" way. I'll deny this if ever repeated, but I kind of like that look, with the trousers, for a proper walking type of trip. Should you of course ever wear that with a dress / skirt, I'll have to come over and shoot you myself. And I'm not even stylish.

Lovecat · 04/07/2011 15:22

Serious sockage going on there, Slubber :o

I am torn between Envy about your Iceytek and :o at your description of the campsite. Was it recommended or did you just turn up on spec?

I've discovered that there is a campsite on a farm park near to DH's DB, who has been bullied into it by SIL also loves camping, so am considering suggesting a big family camp-out one weekend in the summer. That way if the weather's crap we can all pile back to DB's place... According to the UKCS reviews it allows campfires, but it makes no mention of it on the actual site's website. Still, we could always bring our portable firepit along - given it's about 40 mins drive away we could even take 2 cars and really glamp it up (well, we are in Essex :o)!

Lovecat · 04/07/2011 18:48

Ahem.

My name is Lovecat and I'm a campinggearaholic.

Today a package arrived at my work. I'd forgotten I'd even ordered it. Thank God DH is away on business so I could bring it home and hide it so I can pretend I've had it ages... (this really isn't good, is it?)

And it's not even something I need.... (look away now, Slubber), it's a tea-light chandelier from the belltent people. Oooh, it's pretty!

I need help, don't I?Confused

winefairy · 04/07/2011 18:50

Slubber, I am actually really loving the death sock/sandal combo. You wear it well!

SeaShellsAndTheInlawInvasion · 04/07/2011 18:51

Doh!! Im sure he'll unserstand its an essential bit of kit :)

Funtimewincies · 04/07/2011 18:51

Tealight chandelier Shock! How big is your tent Shock?

Slubberdegullion · 04/07/2011 19:04

Sal, I have reached a point in my life when I am comfortable in my decision to embrace the sandals and socks combo. I think it looks fine, on a campsite or a rugged jaunt obviously. No one to my knowledge guffawed openly as I passed them going up the mountain. And if they had I would have pushed them off.

Lovecat I picked it by getting all the c&cc certificated sites within 25miles up on the computer, shutting my eyes and stabbing the screen with my finger. To be fair to my method the site description didn't say 'this is a weedy car park with right nowty owners'. The view was worth it though.

Oh and tea light chandelier

Notwaving, what gaiters? I want some gaiters in the autumn when I am back to walking boots Grin

Lovecat · 04/07/2011 19:04

5m bell tent. There's no excuse, really, is there?Blush

Lovecat · 04/07/2011 19:05

I told you to look away, Slubs!

Slubberdegullion · 04/07/2011 19:06

I think I do winefairy, I think I do.
[sartorially deluded]

Slubberdegullion · 04/07/2011 19:07

me ! Me deluded not you.

Slubberdegullion · 04/07/2011 19:09

Oh Lovecat, Lovecat Lovecat Lovecat.

[you've let yourself down and your tent down emoticon]

MisSalLaneous · 04/07/2011 19:30

Hey Lovecat, I've got something to make you feel better:

I'm itching to get this: disposable picnic basket I don't-think-I-will won't, but I've got visions of little girls in fairy dresses skipping around, boys chasing ants and parents eating rustic breads and cheeses, then strawberries and champagne whilst birds sing in the background... It is pretty, isn't it?? (Happy) sigh.

PS: Those chandeliers are really pretty!

PSPS: Make sure you have fire extinguisher in tent, and make sure they're all out before you go to sleep. Says she with a wood burner, I know.

MisSalLaneous · 04/07/2011 19:37

Hmm, should probably not introduce you to this if you haven't seen yet, but having spent a good hour browsing this site this afternoon, I'll spread the pain joy: Vintage style camping and gadgets. Nothing we haven't seen before, really, but was fun reading.
