Slubberdegullion · 15/06/2011 23:11

just wanted to say goodbye to all the lovely folk in this topic.

My time on mn is up. It really is time for me to give up for good.

The camping topic is the reason I have stuck around here for so long.

Take care, and happy camping Smile

Phew, this thread started so horribly but ended up nice again.
Glad you're staying, or at least returning after your epic trip. :)

needanewname · 16/06/2011 20:24

Can understand why you'd want to go. Been a bit mad on here recently.

Is camping the only topic where people don;t have a go at each other (apart from bunting and fairly lights of course!)

MisSalLaneous · 16/06/2011 20:32

ah, but at least with bunting and fairy lights it's just banter - rest of MN seems to have been taken over by idiots who think it's very Big and Clever to behave like drunk teenagers in a dodgy club in a rubbish town. And that's me being tactful.

For what it's worth, Style and Beauty (neither of which I have) seems to be normal too, so might be an option for some.

The way it's going now, it might even be worth getting chickens just to join those lot. I haven't actually visited them, but can't imagine they'll go around swearing at all and sundry, throwing insults. Throwing eggs maybe, but at least it'll be organic.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 16/06/2011 20:47

As I have neither style nor beauty I'll have to get chickens

PredictableDullard · 16/06/2011 20:49

who will look after the chickens when you go camping?

needanewname · 16/06/2011 20:51

Can you not take them with you? Grin

PredictableDullard · 16/06/2011 20:52

they will shit on the sig

needanewname · 16/06/2011 20:53

Agreed MisSal - I got very het up and annoyed last week and have been thinking of stepping away. But where else will put up with me alking non stop about my lovely bell tent!

MisSalLaneous · 16/06/2011 21:01

True, but you will have fresh eggs. This chicken-camping is growing on me...

Lovecat · 16/06/2011 21:49

horses is fairly safe too... they would create more poo than chickens, but at least you could use them to transport your camping gear...:)

Lovecat · 16/06/2011 21:49

Aargh, that looks like I can't punctuate!

The topic "Horses" (aka the Tack Room) is fairly safe.

There, that's better.

Lovecat · 16/06/2011 21:50

Can't punctuate? I mean can't do grammar.... Christ, I'm not even drunk!

MisSalLaneous · 16/06/2011 21:55

That, Lovecat, might be the problem! Didn't even know there was a Horses topic. Always knew rough camping is the answer - and here we're halfway to having a farm of our own.

PredictableDullard · 16/06/2011 21:57

cruises! there is a cruising topic

scaryt · 16/06/2011 22:06

I had no idea that the rest of the forum was going off track, not really been on it the last few years. Got lured back with all the lovely camping talk and it seems thoroughly pleasant and often amusing here!

Peachy · 17/06/2011 09:34

Ah sal I SO know what you mean about the forum elsewhere: someone actually said the way a poster was behaving towards her (SN mum) made her feel suicidal and the bloke kept going.

I eman why bother?

Camping OTOH.... ah bliss.

And we took the Bell End out for the first time at Whit, bloody fabulous. Had to cancel trip for today due to weather )(boo) but daring to go abroad in summer (armed with a card saying 'Sorry he's autistic' in French Wink) and can't bloody wait. Passporta rrived today- yay!

Sn is still OK and safe but even they had their own trials recently with an influx.

bilblio · 17/06/2011 09:51

I think the Arts & crafts board is nice too, although I'm usually a bit too daunted to post because people actually do stuff, whereas I only seem to find time to think about it.
About the only other places I go are my antenatal thread and the SPD one.... so how come I can spend all evening on MN? Confused

MisSalLaneous · 17/06/2011 11:28

Peachy, that's awful.

On a happier note, yeah! re bell tent! I wondered how you liked it. I love it soooo much. Hmm, with all you lot bu**ering off to mainland Europe, I'm starting to feel like the unadventurous cousin. I require research and a list of suggested campsites if you go!

Hmm, not so sure about Arts & Craft. My last project was a robot from a children's magazine, it was premarked/folded, had all the bits with pictures, and it still ended up like looking like a robot after it has had a major accident...

Peachy · 17/06/2011 12:47

A&C used to be lovely when I was there but haven't had time to make anything in ages, woudln't know where to start now! Was in part what got me hooked on MN.

Sal those magazine things ALWAYS look awful LMAO. But YY to bell Tent, only took 10 minutes to pitch- fab.

midnightexpress · 17/06/2011 12:57

Oh slubs don't go! I'm not a camper, but will miss your posts. You should get a medal for services to food retailing.

MisSalLaneous · 17/06/2011 12:59

Phew, that makes me feel a bit better, thanks even if you had to lie which i am grateful for.

It's probably bad that we only properly started our camping life with a bell - I've looked at other canvas tents before, thinking they'd be great if we ever need more space, but then seeing how much schlepp it is to pitch, and promptly return to thinking I'll keep the bell until I'm too old to go camping! We did buy a Quechua Base Full pop-up as utility tent, which means a lot of our things can go in there, so space not so much of an issue, even when there will eventually be more of us.

Peachy · 17/06/2011 13:43

We need some kind of utility tent as we are doing the festical (feast?) of lanterns thigummy thisbeyar and toilets facillities are not fab so we will get something in place for overnight.

We went to our usual Pembrokeshire site at Whitsun and the owner has installed a teepee and two yurts. He was grinning as we pitched and kept going on about how beutiful 'she' is! Feel like I have joined some lovely club now LOL

MisSalLaneous · 17/06/2011 13:50

Hehehe.

Do you have a Decathlon near you? We've got this (but got it about half price last year, luckily). A bit tricky to put down at first until you can get your head around it, when it's minutes. Excellent reviews too.

chipmonkey · 17/06/2011 16:02

Slubber must stay. Fact.
