i tried rothiemurchus but they said they didn't think they could fit my tent in (gelert horizon 8), which is a shame :(

which rothiemurchus? there is the camping and caravaning one and the forestry one.

DuplicitousBitch · 19/02/2011 20:23

and when is it for?

thisisyesterday · 19/02/2011 20:24

You could also try Boat of Garten or Grantown, both nice. Can help with local pointers if you like :)

DuplicitousBitch · 19/02/2011 20:36

your tent is tres enorme!

meala · 19/02/2011 20:37

Another vote for Glenmore. A short walk takes you to the beach at lovely Loch Morlich.

Boat of Garten is also nice.

DuplicitousBitch · 19/02/2011 20:43

and you have to go here for best cake in britain

chipmonkey · 19/02/2011 20:46

I am surprised they couldn't take it though. I mean it's a big tent but surely no bigger than a caravan! They take caravans, right?

thisisyesterday · 19/02/2011 20:48

yeah it is rather large! got it in the sale at the end of last year.

OP posts:
DuplicitousBitch · 19/02/2011 20:49

the gelert 8 is bigger than alot of caravans

doricpatter · 19/02/2011 20:52

The Mountain Cafe in Aviemore gives those cakes a good run for their money - as for their bagels . You'll have a fab holiday :)

thisisyesterday · 19/02/2011 20:52

best cake???? i am so totally there already! will book now

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 19/02/2011 20:54

yeah the tent didn't look so big surrounded by all the other tents at the camping place Blush

still, there are 2 of us, and 3 (growing) boys so i think we'll appreciate the space Grin

dp's reservations have been quashed with news of cakes, cakes and bagels

OP posts:
DuplicitousBitch · 19/02/2011 20:56

honestly doric platter no where is as good at this place.

thisisyesterday · 19/02/2011 21:03

Mmmm i do love cake...

now, the last thing to worry about... the drive from the south east all the way up there with 3 small boys in the back

the cake better be worth it! lol

OP posts:
DuplicitousBitch · 19/02/2011 21:04

yes where are you going to stop en route?

doricpatter · 19/02/2011 21:06

I will concede that they're very very good Grin. Either way, TIY, get up here and get pitched, what on earth is your DP thinking having reservations?!

DuplicitousBitch · 19/02/2011 21:07

well doric it could piss down for everyday they are there and they could be bitten to buggery by midgies

Bideyin · 19/02/2011 21:08

I agree that the nursery has the best cake :D and a lovely viewing area for birds and red squirrels.

thisisyesterday · 19/02/2011 21:09

that's ok, ds1 likes rain!

thinking of stopping around blackpool/lancaster type way.
will prob stay in a travelodge or something on the motorway

OP posts:
doricpatter · 19/02/2011 22:14

DB you've either been before or you live here Grin

DuplicitousBitch · 20/02/2011 08:45

doric i would love to live there! we love rothiemurchus

doricpatter · 20/02/2011 08:58

It's fab, isn't it? I hate Aviemore (bit like Blackpool IMO!) but the area's the bees knees. We're really lucky - but I often think it would be cool to live somewhere else because I'd love to come here on holiday Grin
