9wk Holiday Countdown - Half a stone to lose - join me?

TerroristToddler · 20/05/2025 10:07

I’ve got 9wks until my summer holiday and want to lose 7lbs before then. I calorie counted from Jan until April this year and lost 9lbs but some family events, a holiday and general life has meant I’ve been off plan for a month now and need to get back on it.

im short and weight loss is slloooww for me so 7lbs in 9wks is actually going to be really tough and I’ll need to be super strict!

anyone want a holiday countdown thread with me? I’ll be weighing in on Tuesdays!

I've just joined the other thread but happy to join here too - my aim is a stone by the end of July when we go on holiday. 6lb down so far!

Good luck with it

Edit - Yikes! Just realised that's also 9 weeks!!

2000trees · 20/05/2025 18:44

I’m in !!

TerroristToddler · 21/05/2025 16:19

Stuck to 1,200 cals yesterday.

In the office today and there are cakes and biscuits everywhere! A real test of willpower!

well done , me too so far

@TerroristToddler I literally could have written your original post myself! I managed to get 8lbs off from Jan to end of March but then April came... Easter... life..... old habits and I stopped. So count me in for this!!
I started back on Monday and my plan is basically to eat less and move more. I'm aiming for no more than 1500cals and 10k steps everyday.
I also tried to weigh myself this morning and the scales broke 😂 but I won't be surprised if I've put 4 or 5 lbs back on since the end of March. (I have brought new scales this afternoon!)

Well the way I see it is; even though I went a bit off the rails and have gained some back I still weigh less than I did in January which is a success!

We can do this - just takes a week to get my head properly back in the game!

I'm away this weekend with DH and the kids, but should still be able to calorie count and will just have no fun

Yeah that's a good way of looking at it @TerroristToddler
Enjoy your time away... life's too short to not enjoy it. I always find myself out of control though on those days lol... I have zero restraint. We are away the back end of next week & I've already said to myself to not go over the top. It's okay for one ice cream but we don't need an ice cream, fish and chips, bakery for brekkie and a pizza takeaway in one day 🤣🤣

TerroristToddler · 26/05/2025 09:14

Back from my weekend away and safe to say I did NOT calorie count at all and seem to have morphed into a human snack-dustbin. Must be something in the sea air 😂

anyway back now and stepped on the Sad-Machine (scales) today. Am gonna do some 5:2 days this week to try and help shift some of the weight I’ve added to over the weekend!

Morning - I’d like to join please. I lost 4.5 stone after quitting drinking which I’m very proud of. However I broke my arm a few weeks ago & have put on 5 pounds. It’s not a lot in the scheme of things but I can notice the difference in my tum particularly & my trousers are a bit tighter. Ideally I’d like to get to 11 stone which will mean losing 12 pounds. My downfall is biscuits (if I buy chocolate Hobnobs for example, I can easily demolish half a packet in one sitting), crisps & Hellmanns mayo. God I love that stuff! Tried half fat but it’s nowhere near as good. I definitely need to move more as obviously I’ve been much less active since my accident.
Hope you enjoyed your weekend away OP 🙂

TerroristToddler · 26/05/2025 19:20

Welcome @RabbitsRock
don’t be too hard on yourself - you broke your arm and are allowed to give yourself a bit of comfort.

i did a 5:2 day today so kept calories around 500 as it’s a “fast” day. I’ve had half a Huel shake, bowl of soup and a small bowl of porridge.

At work tomorrow in the office and trying to plan my meals for the day. It’s a normal diet day tomorrow so I’m gonna stick to 1,200 max.

Tues is also my weigh in day so I’ll get on the Sad Machine tomorrow morning and report back!

TerroristToddler · 27/05/2025 16:32

Tuesday weigh in:

Start weight (20/5/25) - 131.4lbs
today weight - 129.6lbs
BMI - 23.8

Target is 124lbs by my holiday in 8wks time!
Doing a mix of calorie counting and 5:2.

OP posts:
carrottopper · 27/05/2025 23:36

can I join? I have 9 weeks to my holiday and was hoping to lose about 10 lb. Completely gone off the rails tonight. Back on cc tomorrow

start weight (160.7)

RabbitsRock · 28/05/2025 10:07

Bugger - missed the Tuesday weigh in! Last time I got on the scales they were on carpet rather than hard floor so I’ll have a quick wee then step on whilst I’m in the bathroom. Watch this space!

RabbitsRock · 28/05/2025 10:39

Back to 11.5 stone so very chuffed! 7 pounds to go although depending on how I feel, I might then aim for 10.5

TerroristToddler · 28/05/2025 12:30

@carrottopperwelcome! Come on ladies, we can do this and soon we’ll be on holiday sunning our lovely bodies!

well done @RabbitsRock!!! What have you been doing to lose this week? I’m always keen on tips or recipes!

Im on another “fast” day for 5:2 so trying to keep to ~600-700cals (the old 5:2 diet used to be 500cals only on fast days, but I’m going for a run this evening so need a bit of fuel!). So far I’ve had 1/2 a Huel shake and a bowl of porridge for lunch. Dinner is soup and a yog.

OP posts:
RabbitsRock · 28/05/2025 15:35

@TerroristToddler not entirely sure! I have missed a few meals, which isn’t ideal, although at least I haven’t been tempted to snack on crap instead!

TinkysWinky · 29/05/2025 10:08

10.5 lbs off now - my weekend away didn't do any damage which was a miracle. Creeping off slowly. I still have a long way to go overall (approx 4 stone) but it's nice to feel in control of things. Aiming for 1 stone by my holiday at end of July but I might increase this to 1 and a half stone. Keep going everyone!

RabbitsRock · 29/05/2025 11:43

Not a good day so far - 2 figrolls & 2 multi pack bags of Walkers ready salted! I’ll let myself off the figrolls as they were to line my tum with the ibuprofen I took & they’re a bit healthy I guess! Over the last few years I’ve got out of the habit of having breakfast. For a while I’d sometimes do bacon & eggs with wholemeal toast & that was great as it really kept me going.
Lunch will be Double Gloucester & coleslaw sandwich then tea is chicken kievs with frozen jacket spuds & petitpois. Definitely need to go for a walk today!

TerroristToddler · 29/05/2025 13:45

Amazing @TinkysWinky !!! You've got this 💪

I'm on a 1,200cal day today. Going ok, but am in the office and ordered a salad from canteen which I genuinely can't even begin to estimate for calories... all I know is there was a small amount of prosciutto(sp?) in it, bit of bread and a LOT of olive oil!

Brek - 1/2 Huel shake (200cal)
Lunch - Salad (noideahowmany cals... shall we say 550-600?)
Dinner - Bean chilli (260cals), Alpro yog (81 cals)

Have got an event this weekend for a family birthday, involving a posh afternoon tea so somehow need to damage control that...

OP posts:
TinkysWinky · 29/05/2025 19:25

@TerroristToddler that salad sounds amazing 🤩 I'd just forget about it and move on lol.

I have resisted the takeaway with the rest of the family this evening and instead brought out my secret weapon.... Itzu frozen chicken gyoza. I air fry these and dip in a small amount of hoisin. Only 30 cal each and feel like a real takeaway item!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/05/2025 20:48

Me me me!! I’m on so many of these threads ffs 🤦‍♀️
I’m away this week but when i get back I’m on a ten week countdown to my first abroad holiday in 10 years! I’ve lost a very slow 7-8lbs this year and after this week I’m guessing I’ve put a few back on, but I’m pretty much 10lbs from target so a pound a week is spot on. I lose weight so slowly, I have the metabolism of a rock and despite daily exercise and calorie counting, basically if I don’t hit around 1200 max a day I will not lose.

my plan is:

  1. calorie cycling- something I’ve never done. Alternating 800 calorie and 1600 calorie days
  2. running lots (have a half marathon on 15th June)
  3. I’m putting together a 15 minute strength workout with dumbells to do 5x a week
  4. loads of veg (I don’t eat enough), water and protein
  5. sleep x lots
  6. cutting out the crappy UPF rubbish and sugar that I find myself eating and never even want.

in addition to this, I need to spend a bit of time taking care of myself- keeping on top of my roots, eyebrows, feet and using a whitening paste on my teeth.

TerroristToddler · 30/05/2025 07:24

Welcome @thenewaveragebear1983 ! I’m the same, and must have an absolute max of 1,200 to lose anything and even that very rarely will give 1lb a week loss - more like 0.5lb loss. So it’s always a very long process for me! i have been doing 5:2, but I’m adding extra lower cal days into my week alongside so kind of doing calorie cycling too (just didn’t know there was a name for it!). What’s your go to menus for the 800cal days?

Went over cals yesterday a bit as had a snack I hadn’t planned for when visiting a friend 😫 Ended on about 1,450 cals.

Today’s a low cal day - aiming for no more than 800.
Brek- Porridge (140 cal)
Lunch - Huel shake (240 cal)
Dinner - Seabass And veg (no idea on cals yet!)

OP posts:
TerroristToddler · 30/05/2025 07:27

@TinkysWinkyomg we often get the frozen Itzu gyoza and me and DH share the bag. They’re v good for the calories I think! Did you have anything else with it? They’re lush but don’t fill me up much so have to team them with a soup or lots of stir fry veg!

well done on resisting the takeaway! I find it so tough.. DH is trying to lose a bit of weight, but still manages to eat a takeaway for dinner each week and endless supermarket meal deals so barely even tries.. this week he lost 5lbs ffs. So annoying when I’m sat here wondering if I have enough cals to have an apple 😂

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/05/2025 07:38

Morning @TerroristToddler, I have done fast800 before and I think I’ll be veering towards that kind of menu really, and skipping breakfast. It’s the only way to actually get low enough for me. I work from home which is a devil for dieting, so I’m just going to have to get myself in the zone. I have tried shakes before but not huel, how are you finding those? I will be weighing on a Monday as I do a diet club on WhatsApp that has Monday as weigh day, my plan is to do 800 cals Monday, Weds, Thursday, and Friday. Then have higher cals Tuesday (as it’s my go to the office day) and the weekend. We have such a busy month ahead of us as well, sometimes that’s a good thing but sometimes not (alcohol) but I’ve got to try. None of my nice summer things fit me anymore!

we’re climbing snowdon today, I’ve been anxiously watching the weather but it looks okay, clearing up later so hopefully although we may start in cloud we should have a bit of a view from the summit. However, the food will be largely sandwiches and snickers bars 🤦‍♀️ which will undo any calorie benefits unfortunately

TerroristToddler · 02/06/2025 10:38

I can't say I'm looking forward to weigh in day tomorrow AT ALL!

This weekend I had an afternoon tea for a family member's bday and it was so gorgeous and a lovely day, but totally off plan for diet. I also ended up having a last min day off work on Fri with the kids and DH and whilst I didn't go crazy, I did eat a LOT of popcorn as we did a fun film evening and I just wanted to join in with them all. I'm so terrible at this!

On plan yesterday and today. Got up and did 50mins brisk walking on treadmill today with my weighted vest on, with 15mins of it being steep incline. Hoping to do a short mile run later too (am trying to hold myself to doing min of 7miles running per week, and easiest way is often just a short, quick mile per day!).

How did everyone else find the weekend?
