I’m going to be starting calorie counting from tomorrow, with the aim of losing around 2st (28lbs).

Would anyone else like to join me and hold each other accountable here on this thread?

I’ve tried so many ways of losing weight (Keto, Vegan, Low Carb etc) and none of it works long term.
So I’m quitting the fad diets and starting something that I can stick to.

I’m 5,5 and 12st. My aim is 10st, and I’ll be eating 1600 cals a day.

Hello all

I was wondering if I could please join, I’m 5ft4, and 13st 6. I’d love to be 10 stone by Christmas even though it may be a pipe dream.

I work away a lot staying in hotels etc so I’ve always found that slimming world etc doesn’t work as I need to be able to grab food while I’m out that isn’t always home cooked.

I’ve downloaded the buteacheck and will begin tomorrow- weighing myself weekly.

Well, I'm back to where I was before holiday!

49lbs total down and ready to pass that milestone next week.

We do have a bunch of things coming up though, our 10th wedding anniversary and my husbands birthday and we also moved Fathers day since our daughters birthday falls then. And then, of course, the school holidays. Possibly going away in then to inlaws caravan in Wales.

Today:
B: kidney bean burrito
L: Bang Bang cauliflower and stir fry
D: Roast vegetables and fresh cornish sardines
raspberries and iced protein coffee for snacks

WeirdPookah · 25/06/2023 12:38

Talking to myself in here!!

Yesterday was a bust, was planning on Sunshine bread to celebrate the Summer Solstice anyway, but then gave up on the rest of the day and had snacks in the evening too. Feeling hot, annoyed and stressed. There is just constantly so much going on.

Today is ok so far
B: banana waffles, mixed berries, yogurt
L: rice free poke bowl (under 200 calories to balance the big breakfast)
D: arepas, pulled jackfruit, roast peppers/tomatoes

Kind of bored of salad things to be honest, I really hate summer and being bored of food doesn't help.

👋 hi @WeirdPookah , I’m still lurking! I’m on a few threads and I get confused about what’s going on if I post on too many! Your food sounds lovely as always!

WeirdPookah · 27/06/2023 12:43

Done great yesterday and today is on track too.

Though nearly had a disaster yesterday, put eggs on to boil while I had coffee after getting home from school run and quick Lidl shop, then was planning on walking to another store. So, on my way back, wondering how to change my planning to fit in the sourdough bread I'd bought... realised I had left the eggs on! Thankfully my husband had found them 20 mins into cooking and taken them off!!

Yesterday:
B: Black bean burrito
L: hard (very) boiled eggs, slice of sourdough and salad
D: Quorn southern burger, sandwich thin, mayo, salad, padron peppers
iced protein coffee

Today when I finally got home (roadworks on major street, blocking the prom as well) I did a Jenny Ford workout on YouTube, then I re-inventoried the chest freezer in anticipation of running it down over the summer to defrost before batch cooking for winter etc. (can't wait for that!)

B: Black bean burrito
L: peanut butter in celery, slice of sourdough, few pickles
D: Lentil bolognaise, broccoli, cheese
iced protein coffee

WeirdPookah · 29/06/2023 10:58

I've lost 4lbs this week, 53lbs down total!
Went past that 50 milestone!

How is everybody else doing? Summer is a busy time, but how are you all trying to keep going? What difficulties are you facing?

Doing ok with food, feeling really hungry thanks to hormonal cycle, which is also giving me a horrible headache, but been for a walk this morning.
Having a takeaway this weekend as my husband and one of my children have a grading for the sport they do, my husbands is very high level and he deserves it!

Yesterday:
B: Yogurt, strawberries
L: Salad, Indian seasoned not-chicken strips
D: Mango almond chickpea korma, cucumber
Protein iced coffee and a rice cake as I was just so hungry

Today:
B: Pinto bean burrito
L: Poha
D: Roast vegetables and chicken.
Last couple of rice cakes as they are definitely getting stale!

Well done @WeirdPookah thats awesome 👏

Weallgottachangesometime · 03/07/2023 07:58

Popping back on after a gap.
moist 1.5 stone and have gained 5lb after a weekend away (eek). So back on the calorie counting!!

Weallgottachangesometime · 03/07/2023 07:59

@WeirdPookah - wow that is an amazing loss and amazing motivation needed to get there no doubt.

I find it so handy seeing people’s meals for the day. Gives inspiration when I can’t be arsed to think of another low cal meal!

WeirdPookah · 03/07/2023 11:06

@Weallgottachangesometime thank you!!

I had a bad weekend and need to get my head back together. The 2 gradings were pretty long and loud. I wear noise cancelling earphones to classes, but didn't think it appropriate for grading. My husband and daughter both passed!
Then we had takeaway that night.
Sunday my head was all over the place, then whispers of who my child is not getting as a teacher heading out of Reception, has really disappointed me.

Today is the date my now husband and I first met, so having for dinner the same thing we had for lunch that day, baked potatoes (we were both broke!), and strawberries and cream, so quite high calorie day.

Just done a Jenny Ford workout. Raining here, so not walking outside.

B: Black bean burrito
L: Mixed vegetables, fried eggs with togarashi
D: Baked potato, salad, tuna
watermelon for snack

Looking to join here for some friendship and accountability!
Lost 2.5 stone about 10 years ago using MFP - took about 2.5 years, but I did it! Unfortunately, I got married, job changed to a more sedentary role and I've had a baby since then, so I'm back to my original starting weight.
Currently 5ft 4" and about 12st 10lb I think. Not weighed myself in a while - will do so tomorrow morning after my first wee of the day (sorry if TMI!) I'm also 34 years old so my body's definitely different from my 20-something body and lifestyle!

Couple of girls at my work are doing 16:8 intermittent fasting and made a last minute decision to try that today...don't think it's going to work for me though. Calorie counting worked for me previously and I'm going to try it again dammit!

Sisisimone · 10/07/2023 10:39

Hi KeepSmiling89. I think if calorie counting worked for you you should definitely just do that. I'm so annoyed at myself for only trying the faddy fasting/keto/low carb diets that worked for a bit but were just unsustainable and left me heavier than before. I've always been a bit sniffy about calorie counting and thought it old fashioned but it just works. I don't weigh myself but gave gone from a 14 to a 10 in 6 months and am so much happier with how I feel and look. And it's just so easy to just set a limit, log with mfp and no restrictions on anything I eat as long as I keep to a limit. Any blow outs I just adjust accordingly in the week. So annoyed with myself I haven't done this earlier! So good luck. I think I was the same height and similar weight when I started ( but unfortunately nearly 20 years older😊)

KeepSmiling89 · 10/07/2023 10:52

Thanks @Sisisimone !
I know! There really is something to be said about the traditional methods of weight loss - THEY WORK!
I'm following influencers on Instagram encouraging intuitive eating instead of calorie counting and measuring and saying there are more important things than our weight. The funny thing is...they're already at healthy weights and look amazing.
I can already tell 16:8 won't be for me - I've just had my later than normal breakfast and I'm still starving! If I'd had my breakfast first thing this morning and just had my regular banana mid-morning, I would be feeling fine! I just want to scoff the bag of mixed nuts I bought myself now!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/07/2023 12:50

@KeepSmiling89 i totally agree, it’s very easy for someone to say ‘eat intuitively’ but I find that very hard. If I have a set calorie target I either stick to it or not, but i at least have it as a guide for what to eat and I can trade out/in different items to stick to my target. I also find fasting doesn’t work for me, because it only really works if you are good at only eating when you’re hungry. If you override the ‘I’m not hungry so I don’t need to eat’ and eat, even if it’s keto friendly, you won’t lose weight. I do like the Mediterranean diet, keto ish, lowish carb, keep the fats and proteins up- but I still have to be especially aware of my calorie intake because those foods are so calorific.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 21/07/2023 05:35

Hi,

Can I join you?
I started calorie counting about 2.5 weeks ago using mfp. The first 10 days I lost about 6lb. This week has been harder. I haven’t lost or gained
I know my menstrual cycle impacts on it so I’m going to keep plodding on.

I want to up my exercise too but am trying to get established first because exercise always makes me really hungry.

Miathecat · 01/08/2023 09:49

Can I join please, I’m 5’3” and weighing in at 10 1/2 stone. I’m very lucky that I’ve never had to diet before but now at 51 the weight is creeping on and I want get back to 9 1/2 ideally. I have absolutely no idea how to lose weight (all on my tummy) so calorie counting seems like a good start. I swim 3 times a week, Zumba 1 time a week and stretch/weights class once a week. What should I concentrate on doing? Have been doing 1300 calories a day for about a week and lost nothing.

Miathecat · 01/08/2023 11:56

Also getting headaches how long do the last?

flutterby1 · 01/08/2023 13:34

I'm using ' lose it' 1400 calories a day. Anyone else same calories ?

flutterby1 · 01/08/2023 13:41

Fab, How many calories do you eat a day ?

Are you drinking enough? Being dehydrated can give you headaches.
Goes back into lurking mode. :)

Miathecat · 01/08/2023 19:07

Been drinking loads of water, felt better this afternoon it’s just a low level headache not worth taking ibuprofen for

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 04/08/2023 09:54

Are you getting enough salt? I find I get headaches if I don’t. It’s a balancing act as they’re always telling us too much salt is bad for us

Sisisimone · 04/08/2023 10:20

flutterby1 · 01/08/2023 13:41

Fab, How many calories do you eat a day ?

I'm eating 1300 a day but you need to calculate your TDEE and work from there. Everyone is different, depends on age weight, exercise level etc

flutterby1 · 04/08/2023 10:33

Thanks sissimone
