Asking as this is what I really want to have a companion on.

I'll happily go first though:

5 ft 2, 10 stone 1, 1200 calories a day, lose approx 1 pound a week

5’3. 9st 13. Start weight was 13st5.
On my sixth and final attempt at weight loss, I started at 1700 cals a day. I lost 1/2 lbs a week on this.

I'm now on 1400-1650 and lose 0.5lbs a week. I've maintained my initial loss for around 7 months. Now I'm aiming towards 9st 7 by August. I have a balance with this, some days off. Gained half a stone over Christmas and lost in two weeks.

peachgreen · 21/03/2023 19:35

5’7”. 15st 10lbs. Starting weight was 22st. When I first started losing I could eat up to 1500 calories a day and lose around 2lbs a week. Now I eat 1000-1200 a day and lose 1lb a week. Slow going, but still going.

gaggiagirl · 21/03/2023 19:39

I'm 5ft and 10st and am currently eating 1500-1700 and losing half a pound a week. I'm over 40 and always hungry so it's working for me. I do a lot of exercise if that makes a difference. I certainly couldn't eat that amount if I was sedentary it would have to be 1200.

YerAWizardHarry · 21/03/2023 19:41

You’re starving yourself. I lost weight consistently at 14.5 down to 10 stone eating 2400 calories a day

Fallin · 21/03/2023 19:42

I'm 5ft4 56kg I was previously at 61kg eating 1300 a day and losing 2lb a week also going to the gym & walking.

I am now maintaining at 1450 & less exercise, I would double check your calories if at 10st on 1000 kcal you are only shifting a lb a week you may be overlooking some sauces oils etc.

Whatalovelypair · 21/03/2023 19:44

I'm feeling a bit self conscious at the moment so won't give stats but age has a role as well and whether breastfeeding or not. I couldn't lose weight for love nor money when I did.

Wannaloseastone · 21/03/2023 19:45

I'm 52, 5'4" and 11s1lb. Having been eating between 1200 - 1400 a day, low carb, for two months and have not lost a thing. Been going to gym doing light weights under PT 3xweek for those 2 months too. I'm blaming menopause/HRT or am I just making excuses

I'm very similar, 54 12st 2lb, 5ft 4". On HRT. 1450 cals, as worked out by a PT. Go to weights class x3 weekly, yoga, pilates, always mobile since end of January and it's been very hard work to lose the lbs; ultimately I have lost 6lbs but that's pretty pathetic given the effort put in. I don't think you're making excuses. It's just bloody hard but what's the alternative? For me it was watching the lbs go on every month, so that at least has stopped

Hubblebubble · 22/03/2023 13:18

5 ft 3, 11 stone and I've been losing a pound a week on between 1400 and 1700 a day. Also a lot of exercise.

MoominFeatures · 22/03/2023 23:18

Gosh, I can’t get over how low an intake so many of you are doing! I feel pretty wiped out (and ravenous) on anything less than around 1800kcals! I guess everyone is different but I find that I lose at a rate of about 0.75kg per week if I consistently eat 2000kcals (tracking EVERY SINGLE THING). I’m a very intense exerciser though (x5 hours of resistance, x3 hours’ Pilates and x1-2 hours cardio weekly plus dog walking) and muscular, so that will be super-relevant. I’m 168cm and 67kg, cutting with a target of 61kg. Sigh - it’s not fun, I seem to be hungry all the time and I find the whole thing a massive test of willpower! Why do we do this?!!!

Hubblebubble · 23/03/2023 13:36

@MoominFeatures are you using whey or cassein at all? Cassein with coconut milk 30 mins before bed helps your muscles recover and feeling fuller.

Essexexile · 23/03/2023 13:53

5’ 0”, started last August at 68kg, 1500 cals per day, now at 53.5kg, steady loss of around 2lb per week. I work with a PT, I try to walk for an hour every day at a brisk pace, 3 workouts per week, which have been changed to more challenging ones during this time. Nutritionally balanced diet and calorie counting using MFP. I still go out socially and have alcohol in moderation.
My mindset around weight loss and body shape has completely changed, it’s been the best thing I’ve done in 20 years (I’m late 50’s).

ilovewispas · 23/03/2023 21:25

Thank you everyone! This is really interesting.

To answer a couple of questions, I track EVERYTHING I eat, I even weigh salad cream and count milk in my coffee and one cal oil!

Someone said I'm starving myself, to be honest I'm not hungry now I've sorted out what I can eat when. I only have high carb food one meal a day (pasta, cereal, potatoes, rice).

I honestly think if I eat more, I'll lose less or near to nothing.

I wfh sat down all day and struggle to fit in exercise so am very sedentary.

Please do continue posting!

@Hubblebubble Hey, yes, I do use whey/whey isolate (and, in terms of protein booster, also collagen powder with vit C) and various other bits to try to help, though actually I haven’t tried a pure casein supplement - thank you so much for the suggestion and I will have a read around!

DisneyMillie · 25/03/2023 09:01

I’m 43, 5’6” and currently 13st 1lb. Started at 13st 13 at end of jan and properly dieted from 13st 9 three weeks ago. Eating around 1200 cals a day but v v sedentary except for 2 exercise classes and one walk a week.

MistySkiesAreGone · 26/03/2023 19:48

5.6.

If I am sedentary, I can lose on about 1,250 -1,500 cals a day. I'd prob lose about 2lbs a week.

I'm currently doing Fast800 i.e. 800 cals a day e.g. 75-80g carb, 60g protein, 40-60g fat, and losing about 4lb-6lb a week, but it will plateau.

Theredjellybean · 26/03/2023 20:05

54
5ft 3
72.8 kgs
I will only lose if i am on 1200 cals or less, and one day slip up and i gain immediately
also have to really restrict alcohol now even if it is calorie allowance
exercise is less than i used to due to prolapsed discs

Wheretheskyisblue · 01/04/2023 09:23

5'5", 57.5kg, losing 0.5kg a week on estimated 1200 calories a day.

Fitbit says I am using 1700-1800 calories a day so deficit of around 500.

Low carb and not eating after 5pm. On HRT, exercise levels not great atm, about 7000 steps a day and some weights at home 2x a week. No cardio as it just makes me hungry.

Theredjellybean · 01/04/2023 13:30

@Wheretheskyisblue if that is your weight and height your bmi is just tipping into the underweight range .
so seriously worrying you want to lose 0.5 kgs a week.

Wheretheskyisblue · 01/04/2023 13:45

Bmi is middle of normal at 21.7 but only just getting into size 10. Small frame and limited muscle mean I have quite a lot of fat. Will lose another 4kg to get to bottom of normal bmi and then build muscle.

Theredjellybean · 01/04/2023 14:53

i hate to disagree but 50 kgs is start of underweight for your height and 4 kgs off will get you well into the underweight category

Theredjellybean · 01/04/2023 14:54

@Wheretheskyisblue ..ignore me ...i cannto read without glasses and read your weigth as 51.75 kgs

mackthepony · 01/04/2023 14:56

5'5, weigh around ten stone.

Have to eat no more than 1400 cals to maintain this
