Just curious as I know the range is huge.

I tend to lose if i'm eating between 1500-1700 - but its quite slow.

PostThenGhost · 31/01/2022 15:32

Work out your tdee (amount of calories to stay as you are) then reduce by 20% to get a weight loss target.

tdeecalculator.net/

I lost around 3 stone on 1,400-1,600 per day.
Do you log on My Fitness Pal or similar so you can keep track? If so, don’t log your exercise as it gives you extra calories to eat. I didn’t lose when I did that!

Mrsmch123 · 31/01/2022 22:37

I loose around 3lb a week on 1600

SmallThingsEverywhere · 01/02/2022 10:32

Losing a pound a week on 1300-1600

nirvanaviolet · 02/02/2022 13:11

I'm consistently losing 1-2lbs per week on 1700 kcal per day.
I know it could be quicker, but I'd rather eat more and have a gradual, sustained weight loss rather than a quick fix.

upanddownandupanddown · 02/02/2022 21:15

Losing about 1kg a week (2.2lb) on 1800 calories. I am tall though (6ft) and very active

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/02/2022 21:16

A pound / pound and a half a week on average of 1850

@SmallThingsEverywhere

Losing a pound a week on 1300-1600
Same. Though it’s only been 2 weeks so far. I’m aiming for 1300 ish but sometimes it’s up to 1600. I’m trying to make it feel sustainable while adjusting my brain to what I actually clearly need (or don’t need!).
ineedsun · 02/02/2022 21:25

I’ve just joined Noom, I promise I’m not on the payroll but it’s brilliant. I’m on about 1500 a day and hardly ever actually eat that much but have never felt so full and energetic. I’ve lost 8lb in about a month. I usually give up on diets but stuck with it (mainly because I’m tight and I want to get my moneys worth) but I’m so glad I persevered through a slump as I’m seeing lots of benefits.

SmallThingsEverywhere · 03/02/2022 09:58

@Talipesmum I’ve only just started as well and need to increase my exercise to lose more.

Talipesmum · 03/02/2022 10:52

@SmallThingsEverywhere my exercise is pretty much nil hence the low calorie amount. Definitely need to start doing something (problem is I’ve never enjoyed exercise at all, I get no mental benefit from it and never felt any endorphins etc. When I do do it, it’s because I like the people I exercise with and I know it is good for me. But I don’t enjoy it. Have tried several things. It’s annoying!)

ShittyFingers · 05/02/2022 08:11

I eat between 1300 and 1600 calories a day. It probably averages out to around 1500 calories through the week.

I aim for 10,000 steps a day and drink shit loads of water.

I’ve lost half a stone since New Year’s Day.

Pitstop1986 · 05/02/2022 11:19

If I eat less than 800 kcals, plus do over 10,000 steps per day plus a gym workout, I loose 3lb per week. I generally end up binge eating after a couple of weeks as this is not healthy or sustainable.

If I eat 1200 kcals plus walk 10,000 steps I loose about 1lb per week

On 1500 kcals plus activity I loose about 0.5lb per week, but I've found this way of dieting way more sustainable and I can stick with it for months and the weight stays off when I go back to eating normally. if I want to and on that amount, I can include treats as part of my diet, so although I'm always consciously aware that I have to control myself, I don't feel so deprived.

I have a long history of disordered eating. I'd fast and deprive myself only to send up binging later down the line, so I always fluctuated and lost and gained the same 10lb or so. Took a long while to realise that if I want to really change my body (and not impact my mental health) slow and steady wins the race.

I just eat intuitively now, although I'm breastfeeding at the moment so intuitive eating = eating everything in sight, but I'm maintaining my current weight.

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/02/2022 11:22

Kilo or so a week on 15/1600. Can’t do the cotttage cheese an apples thing, love my food Grin

Gained weight because of lack of opportunity to exercise as I used too, CEV husband.
Will start distance walking again quite soon and will be able to eat more then. Should be back to my normal by Easter Smile

Snailhaterz2 · 15/02/2022 11:47

MFP told me that to loose 1lb a week I needed to eat 1400 calories a day (which is pretty much what the tdee calculation mentioned by @PostThenGhost advises). I'm trying to eat slightly lower than that for part of the week and am losing weight at closer to 2lb a week rate, which makes me think that 1400 calories a week would probably have the right result.

goldenbag · 15/02/2022 22:41

1200

2DogsOnMySofa · 15/02/2022 22:52

Between 1400 and 1600, it's roughly about 1lb a week

HeadingForHome · 22/02/2022 08:03

To actually lose at any kind of pace around 1200. I've been aiming for between 1200 and 1400 since mid January and lost 15lbs.

I'm quite short though, not doing much exercise and also breastfeeding.

Stellaris22 · 22/02/2022 14:13

1600-1800, I've been losing weight since April 2021 with gym/PT sessions. Doing lots of strength training so you need fuel to work out properly. Lost 35kg and aiming to lose another 20kg. It's coming off more slowly now but a higher calorie allowance means I'm less likely to binge from being hungry.

countydown1989 · 11/03/2022 13:41

I am 5'2 (just!) and I have been doing 1200 the last two weeks and I have lost about 4 lbs. But I have gone up past this about 4 days - my maintenance is 1700-1800 so I haven't gone above that any day. I started at 9 stone 6 and my aim ultimately is around 8 stone 10.

countydown1989 · 11/03/2022 13:42

Might I add I don't really do any exercise but regularly have 8000-10000 steps a day due to work and family life

Leftleg · 18/03/2022 23:00

I'm eating about 1400-1500 per day and walking 10,000 steps to lose 1 pound per week.

ilovebagpuss · 24/03/2022 07:31

I am currently 98kg and eating 1200 week I loose 3lb give or take. I'm thinking of having a bit more Friday/Sat so that might slow the loss but I'll see.

RiverSkater · 24/03/2022 07:54

Some of these are quite generous!

How do you know how many calories?
I'm feeling down about my tummy whichI can't shift.
