Just curious as I know the range is huge.

I'm on 1500-1600 and have lost 11lbs since January 4th. Slow and steady and I'm not depriving myself so it feels sustainable.

Menora · 30/03/2022 09:06

1200-1400 a day
I don’t eat back what I exercise but I also try not to panic if I eat 1500 on a weekend

I have been unwell this week and eating a lot less (no appetite) and lost more quickly but that’s not going to work long term

I’ve lost 13lbs in 4 weeks but that’s going to slow down soon

SuckIt · 30/03/2022 21:50

2300

230lbs

10,000 steps plus exercise

1lb-2lb a week loss

Bigoldhag · 03/04/2022 16:49

I have a lot to lose, my calories are1845 a day, so 500 below my tdee.

I average between 1.4-1.8 pounds a week but weigh everyday - which has been instrumental in understanding my body when hormones flux and I gain slightly etc.

I have not adjusted my calories since starting losing weight but will re-evaluate my tdee once I start plateauing.

It’s been a slow loss - when ever I have been on a diet, its been quick - i could’ve lost that stone in two weeks previously. But it never lasts, so i figured i had to try low and slow to conquer my binge eating and change my habits for good. Its still early days but feeling pleased so far, and aside from the initial first couple weeks of hunger, my body has adjusted well to the reduced intake. I would never had survived this length of time on a very low calorie diet.

Bigoldhag · 03/04/2022 16:50

Oh, ive lost a little over a stone so far, and am classed as ‘sedentary’ -doing under 5000 steps a day. I am increasing this slowly, my knees are impacted by my weight so dont want to over do it and hoping it will balance out my calories as i drop down.

Gigia · 04/04/2022 21:51

I'm currently 61kg and aiming to get back to 55kg. Have already lost 2kg on between 1250-1400 a day. I am fairly active, regularly do more than 10,000 steps often nearer 20,000 and go to the gym 5-6 days a week doing strength training. I am also doing 16:8. I am hitting really hard as I gained this weight quickly after a period of illness and therefore reduced activity. Several years ago I lost over 20kg on 1800 a day.

onelife22 · 04/04/2022 22:48

1900

Hatinafield · 04/04/2022 22:55

1200 gives me a steady loss of 1 a week abd sometimes too.
It’s a bit rubbish compared to others but the best thing I’ve ever done for myself is make my peace with that and just make it work.

Hatinafield · 04/04/2022 22:55

Sometimes two

MidnightMeltdown · 04/04/2022 23:01

These answers are meaningless unless you know the persons weight

Fat people need more calories to maintain their weight, so an obese person could lose weight on 2500 calories, while a thin person would gain weight.

Scottishflower65 · 04/04/2022 23:45

65kg. 2500 cals approx per day (don’t really count but did a tot up for today to answer the question and that’s typical). However burn 800 exercise so net 1700. If I want to lose up the exercise by 200. Full fat everything, no processed food, no sugar, no simple carbs. Eat what I want apart from those constraints.

HowIsItMarchAlready · 20/04/2022 18:22

how many calories UNDER your TDEE do you need to be to lose weight? I'm eating around 250 under atm but losing slowly.

Bubbles2022 · 20/04/2022 18:58

I'm losing 1-2lbs a week eating 1950 calories.

Some days I eat less, some days I eat more.

Muppetlove · 20/04/2022 19:08

About 1800. I use flexible dieting which is basically food + exercise allowance all in one averaged out. I love food and we eat well. Flexible dieting is basically about flipping the old eat as little as you can - 1200 calories - WTF!! on its head. It's much more sustainable.

CornishGem1975 · 20/04/2022 19:18

I need to keep to about 1200 to lose 1lb a week.

CornishGem1975 · 20/04/2022 19:19

Oh and I know that sounds nothing but I'm a shortarse and I have a very sedentary lifestyle.

picklemewalnuts · 20/04/2022 21:46

I don't count. I prioritise food with low calorie density and good nutrition. I limit food that's high in fat or sugar.

If you eat nutritious low density foods foods, along with protein, you're not particularly hungry when you get to the calorific foods. I'll have a biscuit if I still want one, after I've eaten a hard boiled egg and an apple!

ncwithme · 20/04/2022 22:19

Can anyone share what they eat or any websites they use for food? I'm finding figuring out what to eat so I don't feel hungry difficult.

wanderingscot · 21/04/2022 06:47

1500 with exercise and walking

Roguebludger · 21/04/2022 06:59

I've lost 9lbs in 3 weeks on 1400 calories a day but I am hugely overweight.

User48751490 · 21/04/2022 07:03

1600-1700 calories a day. Minimum exercise at the moment. Losing 0.5 lb a week, similar to a PP. I find this long term very slow weight loss sustainable and it does stay off.

purplesequins · 21/04/2022 07:05

below 1500
to hold my weight I need 1700-1800

absolutelynotfabulous · 22/04/2022 11:44

I maintain at around 1500.

To lose very slowly, I eat 1200. I'm old and sedentary though, and eat back exercise cals.

Protein stops hunger

I have salad with either tuna, boiled eggs or chicken breast for lunch and am not hungry again until dinner time.

As a pp said, if you crave a biscuit have a apple and boiled egg and then if you still want the biscuit have it.

I am using Noom. It’s made me be quite creative with food and really reconsider what I thought was ok to eat - basically undo all the stuff I learnt on slimming world!

I eat between 1200-1400 a day
i wasn’t losing anything on 1500
I am 14st 3
I was 15st 4 end of Feb
5ft 5

sometimes I can get hungry but I won’t let it get to severely hungry (like the shakes and feel ill) as you want to be at the satiety scale 3-5. Hunger feelings are cyclical so you can often ignore the first one but I won’t ignore the second one (like 30-45 mins later?)

in a day I will eat lots of low calorie dense foods and I don’t eat cows dairy at all where possible

keto is not for me so I do eat carbs

breakfast:
Vegan protein powder with almond no sugar milk (139 Cals)
bowl of fruits (apple, banana, kiwi, strawberry
OR I might have scrambled egg (no milk butter or cheese) on whole meal toast

lunch - usually always a nice soup. If I didn’t have wholemeal bread at breakfast I will eat 2 small slices with the soups

snacks: carrots, peppers and cucumber with a tablespoon of reduced fat houmous. Alpro fruit yoghurt/10 calorie jelly/satsuma/a corn cake with marmite or a marmite rice cake

dinner: something with a protein - quorn, salmon, chicken - any meat
brown rice or cous cous small cup sized or sweet potato wedges (baked)
veg
this is usually my biggest meal
