Always had an unhealthy relationship with food - really struggled with eating disorders in the past.
Had my little girl 2 years ago and put on so much weight! Did slimming world last year and lost 4 stone but have found I've had such an appetite since then that I've piled weight back on.
Started a calorie controlled (1500 per day) diet 2 weeks ago and I've lost 9lbs!
So so so proud of myself especially given my history, I've done it sensibly and feel very much in control!
Not sure what the point of this post is, a bit of bragging I suppose but also happy to swap meal and food ideas?

Well done Mama and you have every right to be pleased and proud.

I'm thinking of starting again tomorrow, going to use MFP to log everything and keep track.

I seriously need to lose a stone by Christmas, and my motivation has been zero. So your thread is very timely.

My number one tip is to cut out alcohol entirely, the calories just aren't worth it.

MamaBearThius · 13/10/2018 16:33

Thank you 😆
I don't drink anymore (gave up when pregnant) but I can imagine there's a lot of empty calories in alcohol!
I've made a cardboard box full of 100cal or less snacks in it (and written the calorie figures on the front of it 🤓) the Halloween Cadbury treat bags are amazing! Mini crunchie is 81 Cals! Hula hoops puft are 72!

Funnily enough, I do the same with snacks Mama. Walkers French Fries and Penguin biscuits, give me something to have in the evenings when my willpower is failing.

MamaBearThius · 14/10/2018 15:05

Skinny cow mint choc ice creams are gorgeous too!! I have one every evening when I've done bedtime

Thanks for the tip. I've put today's meals into MFP and around 1300 cals, which I'm pleased with. Had Weetabix with milk and an apple, several cups of tea, one with a chocolate biscuit treat and beef stew, mash and loads of veg, which was lush

MamaBearThius · 15/10/2018 07:21

Sounds good! Do you miss out lunch? I've been having fresh soups! 150cals for half a tub, worth it!

NewLampsForOld · 15/10/2018 07:34

Hi Mama, the stew was a late lunch / early dinner, as we had breakfast late. I would normally have had a supper of cheese and crackers, but decided I wasn't that hungry.

Soup's a great idea! I like carrot and coriander the best.

MamaBearThius · 19/10/2018 17:32

How are you getting on? I weighed yesterday (sticking to Thursdays) and I'm down 11lbs now since 3 weeks ago Grin

Great loss, Mama!

I'm going to weigh in on Monday, so will update then. Trying to cook more from scratch this week, I find that helps too.

yogima · 22/10/2018 08:07

Well done mamabear. Brag away, it can be inspiring.

I lost 2 stone this year through calorie counting and the stress of starting a new business. But since Autumn started i have struggled with motivation and I am eating badly again.
I started drinking (moderately ) after a year and a half off so maybe that's related.

I just seem to have lost my healthy eating mojo.
I weighed myself a couple of weeks ago and had regained half a stone. I've not been brave enough to weigh again since.
I desperately need motivation so hoping your post will inspire me today to get back on MFP.

MamaBearThius · 14/11/2018 08:53

How's it going?
1 stone 2 lbs for me so far!
Relaxed a bit with calorie counting this week as I've had a dental infection (all sympathy welcome)

So glad I've come across this thread as I started calorie counting yesterday. Well done! You've inspired me. I've got three stones of baby weight to lose - three kids under four and my youngest is four months old. I'm trying to stick to 1,440 calories a day. Can I join you on this thread?

MamaBearThius · 14/11/2018 15:48

Of course you can! How are you getting on today?

MrsHarveySpecterV · 14/11/2018 16:27

Doing well so far, got 780 calories left for dinner tonight. How has your day been?

SilverDoe · 14/11/2018 16:33

Huge congratulations!! You should be proud - and brag at every milestone! I love the motivation that being able to tell a community that you’ve lost weight, it’s great Halo

I have started brutally logging after a huge lapse in my self control where all good habits have been lost :( have managed to not put on much back but it’s 11 months into the year and I have only lost a stone side starting in January :(

But writing this, I’m shocked at how fast the year has gone and I’m going to use that as motivation for days where I’m struggling to stick to my calorie goals - a year seems so long away when you say it but in reality it goes so fast!

Your post has motivated me OP Star

MamaBearThius · 14/11/2018 17:43

Oooh 780...what will you have? I've not counted today as only just recovering from pesky tooth!
Really lovely to have inspired people! We've got this!! Wink

Blimey! 9lbs that's some achievement.
Bloody well done. I think it's fab you are back in control so that you don't pass any disordered eating habits to your dd.

MrsHarveySpecterV · 14/11/2018 18:40

@MamaBear I had a chickpea and sweet potato curry with rice and a mini ice cream for dessert.
What kind of things have you been eating for breakfast?

MamaBearThius · 14/11/2018 19:08

Thank you, she's my inspiration for life - she's absolutely amazing and changed me for ever.
I sometimes have poached or boiled eggs with a slice of low cal toast but mainly have a porridge pot. Aldi golden syrup pots are 115cals I think and so tasty!!

boomboo · 16/11/2018 08:23

Joining you! Just downloaded MFP and walking the school run this morning. Little changes but it's a start.

MrsHarveySpecterV · 16/11/2018 12:01

Well done @boomboo :)

LadyRochfordsSpikedGusset · 16/11/2018 12:09

Congrats OP, takes effort to do that especially given your past relationship with food. Well done!

MissKummerspeck · 27/11/2018 09:57

That’s amazing mama bear! You have given me hope. I have just downloaded the my fitness pal app to start logging my calories. I am currently at my heaviest weight I have ever been and so fed up! It’s very inspiring to see that calorie counting has worked so well for you!
